I'm starting to lose count of the occasions that I find myself somewhere and think "Should have brought the camera" - just because the light seems good and the view looks nice, and the efforts of you lot serve to help me realise the value of recording things; after all, experience tells us that however permanent things seem, They Won't Always Be This Way. Carrying the camera isn't a habit of mine though, and it only really gets used for family snaps; which is one reason I'm so grateful to you guys. Tony Sebo March 6th, 2008, 06:04 PM I went there as well Tony circa 1970. Oh.. I got expelled as well.. 73-74 I was there. Funny tale. I actually assumed it was in Everton when I made my preferences, only found out a few days before I was due to start that it was in sunny Woolton... put a real downer on things! Blabber II March 6th, 2008, 07:54 PM Can anybody advise me as to what exactly a healthy shit should look like? That Gillian McKeith harridan from TV, the one with a Phd in Shit, claims that it should be a kind of curled up log, that is chestnut coloured. Can anybody verify this? I have serious concerns about my poo. Thanks in advance. :toilet: Tony Sebo March 6th, 2008, 08:00 PM Here we go ... if in doubt, sort it out! http://altmedicine.about.com/od/gettingdiagnosed/a/stools.htm Blabber II March 6th, 2008, 08:09 PM Tony, Thanks for this. I might print that page out and take it to work with me. I want to adopt a scientific approach to this - observe, diagnose, treat - so may take a clip board and a pen with me into the mens. A white lab jacket would also be nice, but I don't want to look weird. I'm a bit confused though. How would anybody know that their poo sinks too quickly? Do I need to quickly jump up off the loo and watch it? How long is "too quick"? I suppose I could take a stop-watch with me as well. Anyway, cheers mate. I can report back if people wish. Toadboy March 6th, 2008, 08:17 PM You need the Bristol Stool Chart. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Stool_Scale Blabber II March 6th, 2008, 08:25 PM Toad, That is very helpful, thank you. I'm tempted to have a copy laminated and mounted in my favourite cubicle. Toadboy March 6th, 2008, 08:28 PM McKeith always makes her victims cack in a tupperware container and examines the contents from there. Blabber II March 6th, 2008, 08:31 PM How disgusting of her, not to mention unnecessary. :toilet: Tony_sw March 6th, 2008, 08:50 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HalD12wJ2_s Blabber II March 6th, 2008, 08:54 PM So how does the Bristol Chart classify that condition? Awayo March 6th, 2008, 09:47 PM I find that, as with so many things, in poo, variety is the spice of life. Depending on what I've eaten or drank the previous day, whether I've gone for a run or the gym, sat in the office or whatever, the colour and consistancy of my poo can vary enormously every day or even from one poo to another during the same day. Gillian McKeith is a charlatan and enemy of the truth about poo. Maybe if one ate exactly the same meal every day would one's poo remain constant in all its attributes. In reality, our diets and lifestyles vary and so should our poo. So long as one is not chronically diarrhoeic or constipated, Blabs, I would not worry about your poo not corresponding every day exactly to this mythical poo that has come out of McKeith's head. Toadboy March 6th, 2008, 09:53 PM Was that poo shouting "Accy"? Too right, poos are all about the here and now - today conker coloured and torpedo like...tomorrow lumpy and smelling like a nappy. Sausage dinners make a fine stool, too much guinness makes a gruesome mess. Tony Sebo March 7th, 2008, 12:56 PM Thinking about it now, I feel being the first city to reach the 100k benchmark is a nice thing for the Liverpool sub-forum to achieve. "Fuck You - We Want Your Money" is what that call was all about. Mr Carter is probably dead now, of a heart attack, killed by BT and their ilk. BT are verminous fucking scum. I fucking despise BT with all my soul. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with and I wake up every day happy in the knowledge that I'm no longer trapped in their rip-off of a contract. Their customer service is dire. I have been tricked into paying for repairs I was promised would be free; I have been entered into long contracts even when I've told them I didn't want to be (and was then subjected to investigations); and I've spent literally days worth of time waiting on the phone for some Indian or Geordie to pick up the fucking phone. They aren't good value for money compared to other companies, and I have been lied to and messed about on so many occassions I hope they go bust. Typical post-nationalised company - SHIT. Bravo to that man for telling them to fuck off. Frankly, I find that call slightly suspect. Those comments at the end make me wonder whether they hadn't called, and annoyed, that customer earlier on and then called him back to record him. I wonder whether he got into any trouble. Martin S March 8th, 2008, 04:07 PM Mr Carter's behaviour there can only be justified if he had been continually pestered by BT and asked them on several occasions not to ring him. Saying that, it does show the total contemptuous way that modern organisations behave. The man was absolutely furious, threatening personal violence against the caller and shouting and swearing like a maniac but he still got the 'thank you for using BT' line. It's like the 'your call is important to us' rubbish you get while you wait ten minutes for someone in India to get round to answering your call. Awayo March 8th, 2008, 04:19 PM Is it a hoax? A group :grouphug: is in order Damon March 8th, 2008, 10:19 PM Just to clarify after my somewhat optimistic post on the previous page, there is no way I qualify as 'young', 'younger', 'youngish', 'mid-twenties', 'mid-thirties', or even 'late thirties'. Alas. Chris B March 8th, 2008, 11:14 PM Hmmmm, well "youngsters" are teenagers; "younger" are up to mid twenties i think. I'm 25, so does that still qualify as 'younger'. I hope so. It already irks me that I now have to tick the 25-34 age box when filling in forms, rather than the 18-24 one. liverpolitan March 8th, 2008, 11:59 PM What's so good about being young though? You have to die one day no matter what, and the older you are the more days of life you have "banked". When you are 20, you don't know if you will live until you are 21, indeed, some 20 year olds, sadly, will not make it to 21. But when you are 22, you've had 21, so you are better off than a 20 year old. That is, if the length of life matters, which some people don't seem to agree with. I've never personally liked the "life is a span" thing trotted out a funerals for people who die young, but I suppose it's true. I feel I belong to the age group that does worst of any age group ever: - we didn't benefit from the vast increases in property prices where you bought a house for Three Shilling and Six Pence - we didn't get the early retirement bonanza of older people and now have to work until we drop - we didn't have all the wealth and opportunities that young people have, with nearly full unemployment and the ease of travel and having fun (oh no, fun was FAR TOO EXPENSIVE in the old days) - all these so-called breakthroughs that will cure illnesses and delay ageing will not come about until it's too late for us, so we still face diabetes, heart disease and cancer in our 60s if we are lucky. - whinge, whingey whinge whinge etc And we have to tick boxes that go up to age 75. Except Woody, who has to tick the 75+ box. woody March 9th, 2008, 12:24 AM And we have to tick boxes that go up to age 75. Except Woody, who has to tick the 75+ box. Sorry for bursting your bubble but isn't the whole idea of a skybar on a site like this is, but, to get away from the mundane issues of stating fact after fact of what goes on in this big urban world of ours? Maybe Birmingham posters are more sociable than any others on this forum and like to start threads (similar to the UK Skybar and every other skybars on ssc) which endear folk to be more friendly and approachable rather than just a name on the other end of a post. Customers paid VAT for 20 years before the authorities accepted the product was a cake, which does not command VAT. UK tax officials acknowledged that chocolate teacakes had been wrongly classed as biscuits in 1994, prompting M&S to launch a legal battle to have the wrongly-paid VAT returned. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7340101.stm Tony Sebo May 12th, 2008, 12:57 PM Sorry for bursting your bubble but isn't the whole idea of a skybar on a site like this is, but, to get away from the mundane issues of stating fact after fact of what goes on in this big urban world of ours? Maybe Birmingham posters are more sociable than any others on this forum and like to start threads (similar to the UK Skybar and every other skybars on ssc) which endear folk to be more friendly and approachable rather than just a name on the other end of a post. I remember when Liverpool overtook manchester's count and the amount of spam posts created in that attempt will never be equaled. I should know I was the one - much to most many's disgust - who's post overtook them. As Telfordboy says too, most of our catch up work has been through quality photographs by Feltip and many more not by what goes on on our Skybar I think that you're wrong there! I agree about the more social stuff, one of the reasons why the Liverpool forum gets lots of posts is the nature of debates we seem to have here that do not go on in other city's forums... but then there is the terrible 'Beebo' sort of childish 'social' threads that have gone onto the brum forum over the last couple of months! Debate, craic and outright bargies are one thing... Dr Who threads is quite another? T0M May 12th, 2008, 01:42 PM I think that you're wrong there! Fair points Tony, but it does beg the question... who was the best doctor? :dunno: yoshef May 12th, 2008, 05:07 PM Fair points Tony, but it does beg the question... who was the best doctor? :dunno: Scottie Road's finest, Tom Baker, by a mile. He has even appeared in The Simpsons! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/03/Simpsons_Doctor_Who.jpg/180px-Simpsons_Doctor_Who.jpg  Tony Sebo May 13th, 2008, 12:33 AM  I'd go with Tom Baker too.. though I did like worzel pertwee as well! Joe the red May 15th, 2008, 11:08 PM If proof were needed - The opening post of the Favourite City thread :ohno: To get the post count up I am going to start making lots of threads, ok so for the first one what is your favourite city, and plaese actually say ones you have visited and not just seen pictures of. :bash: Then the excitement of "Ice cream" thread "What time do you go to bed and what time dou you get up", "How old are you?". FFS. Chris B May 15th, 2008, 11:26 PM I wouldn't worry about it Joe. I just view it as different strokes for different folks. We prefer to have the majority of the topics in the Skybar to still have a link to Liverpool. The Birmingham forumers prefer to use their Skybar for more general topics. If that works for them then fine, I prefer the more focused attitude towards the Skybar we have on our forum, but that's no slight against the Birmingham Skybar or it's users. I don't care if the Birmingham sub-forum has exceeded the number of posts we have (which it has by around 500 or so currently). I'm a firm believer in quality of posts (not to infer that the Birmingham sub-forum doesn't have quality posts). To rack up as many posts as we have, with surprisingly few off-topic threads, for me just highlights how much there is to discuss in Liverpool, and how varied, interesting and engaing the discussion is on our forum, and that's what's important to me in a forum, not who has the most posts. Tony Sebo May 15th, 2008, 11:33 PM oh, the diplomacy is just oooozing out there Chris  Most of the Brum forumers are great. Still, it IS silly to try to bump up the forum's position by resorting to 'how many times do you fart in a day' type threads! Damon May 15th, 2008, 11:33 PM And the Liverpool forum opened way after Brum and Manchester of course! Tony Sebo May 15th, 2008, 11:36 PM That is true, but I think the post count now only goes from after the great...er, I can't think of the word..anyway, some twats destroyed the site by making it crash and it lost everything. So, well done to the brumbs for being the biggest thread. Chris B May 15th, 2008, 11:40 PM oh, the diplomacy is just oooozing out there Chris :lol! I'm afraid I just can't get worked up about something as wholly insignificant as who has the most posts. There are much more important, and interesting things to concern ourselves with. I'll defend Liverpool's honour as much as the next person, but not over trivial things like this. I just view it as different strokes for different folks. Not worried at all mate. I know some Brum forummers make decent contributions here and doubtless on their own bit. I find it sad that to artificially bump up their post total, they talk about shite. Must have even sadder lives than me. Chris B May 16th, 2008, 11:09 AM wasn't being sarcastic mate, just having a chuckle. :) No probs Tony. :) |
