The Derby QUAD is coming along nicely now, eternally its pretty much taken shape with just the limestone cladding to put on pretty much. The multi coloured box above the entrance looks much better then in the render - its made of glass with vinyl shapes and patterns.

(Note the metal box on top, and its bigger brother in the distance!)

QUAD is due to open in Summer 2008. There's a webcam on the Assembly Rooms which has photographed the building during its development.

Look on the website - tell you everything you need to know. The Derby moaners hate it but its probably more useful then characterless shopping centres and yuppie blocks.

Interestingly Derby Dance Centre has a building called the Cube...

An ugly turd of a building that will no doubt lurch from one financial crisis to the next.

QUAD is nearing completion, with the limestone cladding now being put in place. Its meant to reflect Derbyshire's rock layers.

A very unusual building. Will it be a theatre and/or art gallery sort of place?

Its an art space and independent cinema, a merger of the Q-arts and Metro Cinema organisations.

I see. It's similar to our Digital Media Centre concept.
