Since there isnt a thread for just photos to do with sport of any kind, I thought I would start one.

My first photos are football stadiums.

St Andrews (from where I sit).

The old stand at Blues is pretty abysmal. Shame because the rest of the ground is pretty good.

Although its shabby , I think the stand gives a lot of character to the ground . If all four sides were like The Tilton and The Spion Kop I think it would be another insipid standard stadium .I imagine its days are numbered though .

More pics .Good one of the Spion Kop terracing as it was .

When i first used to go to St.Andrews - that was the best stand in the ground. In fact, i used to sit pretty close to where this picture was taken. (In the old Railway end of course)

But back then Villa Park wasn't much different. The North stand was the only impressive part of the ground.
In fact Witton Lane was more pathetic.

Not exactly to do with greater birmingham but I took these when i was in Melbourne in 2005. I went to an Aussie Rules game at the MCG (Melbourne cricket Ground) and it was an awesome experience. The stadium is huge (100,000 all seater) though it was being rebuilt when I was there in time for the forthcoming commonwealth games

Ahh the infamous "shed."
So many times this stand has been the subject of ridicule from rival fans. It just looks old, small and takes away from rest of the stadium. Good seat there in the railway end! :)
My favourite view of St Andrews is when walking into it from Big W. Then you see a step in the ground where the stadium goes down and surrounds the pitch.

Yeah, it is a good seat, hence why I am one of the 5,000 who renewed for next season.

What I can never get my head around is the fact that the Main Stand has some of the most expensive seats at St Andrews. :ohno:
