I'm not an expert... just sharing my comments..

The Japanese style building has just been renovated in the recent years.(New paint and new roof tiles.)
I think it actually looks too "new" to me.

The new Japanese roof tiles are like this now, but did the renovation reveal the building's original color? I was wondering if the original color of the frames is in black or brown/wooden color when it was first built.

The 2nd TW style building looks fine to me. I don't find it "dirty". It is actually very tranditional looking temple with no modern look(tiles, bricks, decorations...etc). Maybe, it looks dirty because of it's fancy coloring.

the enseign panels're a bit too disordored..
