LeB.Fr March 6th, 2008, 05:29 PM From Beirut | Projects & Construction (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=409080)
This was posted today by a new member...
Apparently it's going to be the world's most expensive and biggest hotel.. 10 stars, and it's going to cost around $3 billion. Supposed to be built facing the new marina in Beirut, and it's going to be officially announced in August of 2008. Construction beginning in 2009, taking 3 years.

Hassoun March 6th, 2008, 08:30 PM ^^ So is this a new thing or this is old news ???
lebgurl March 9th, 2008, 07:02 AM Here's some more info i got in an email about the 10 star hotel
The biggest and most expensive hotel on planet - 10 STARS premium
This is so real, this concept Hotel is turning for reality,
Location: Beirut Lebanon
Area: Facing Marina & Saint Georges Beach , middle of the sea - Beirut
Starting date of construction: June 2009 Estimation time: 3 years
Cost of project: 3.6 Billion US Dollars
Official announcement of project August 2008 in Beirut ( If no war declared and the American warship “Cole” left that area as the Hotel supposed to be build where it anchors right now)
Beiruti March 9th, 2008, 09:11 AM ^^ I strongly doubt the U.S. warship is that close! It is in international waters, whereas this proposed hotel is just facing the marina.
Anyway, what was the source of this e-mail?
Jayme March 9th, 2008, 10:15 AM woah, a 10 star hotel in Lebanon..... what ever to that "7 star" hotel that was planed 4 years ago.....
It dose look amazing.
houssam March 9th, 2008, 12:36 PM ^^ I strongly doubt the U.S. warship is that close! It is in international waters, whereas this proposed hotel is just facing the marina.
i guess it was just sarcasm
crazyeight March 9th, 2008, 12:59 PM That's the 7 star Apeiron island hotel designed for Dubai. Here is the link http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=525031
houssam March 9th, 2008, 01:26 PM ^^ that's just sad
i knew it was too good to be true :ohno:
:badnews:
Jayme March 9th, 2008, 02:22 PM meh... I doubt it would have been built anyways.
Qatar Son 333 March 9th, 2008, 03:18 PM yeah it looks just too fake to be truw i mean a hotel thats littrily in the water and not on an island is just to much....
Hassoun March 9th, 2008, 05:37 PM I guess we have to wait till August 2008.
Beiruti March 9th, 2008, 07:51 PM That's the 7 star Apeiron island hotel designed for Dubai. Here is the link http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=525031
Maybe it wasnt approved for Dubai, so they are re-designing it for Beirut? It seems they have upgraded it to a 10-star hotel and increased the cost to over $3 Billion from just $350 Million. We will just have to wait and see...
Beiruti March 9th, 2008, 07:58 PM Although I highly doubt this project will get approved - nevermind be built! - according to the original poster, it appears that this info came from an inside source and is therefore worth speculating about...
Actually, it was apparently leaked by one of the people working with the architects, and was sent to my cousin, who forwarded it to me and other ppl. Heh, I don't know about the name, but I think they're going for something called the Hotel Beirut. Not very original, but I like it.
rleb2005 March 9th, 2008, 11:09 PM hmm this project seems to be bogus. A massive 3 billion dollar hotel on an island off the marina in Beirut that someone mistook for the site of the USS Cole seems a bit far-fetched. Kinda sad thou...it looks amazing. Imagine looking at that strolling down the corniche
Ramazzotti March 10th, 2008, 01:09 AM this project seems too good to be true !!
Jayme March 10th, 2008, 02:22 AM I cant picture this building off the Lebanese Coast.
john2890 March 10th, 2008, 03:02 AM ...then comes me (who's naturally negative about everything) and says: thank god it wont be built. it wouldn't have "fit" in with the rest of the city. i mean, it looks nice in the render, but it doesn't match the Beirut style...at all. i knew the second i saw it that they had mistaken Dubai with Beirut. besides, its probably a self-claimed 10 star, just like the other self-claimed 8 star hotel in Dubai, whats it called again?
BinDubai March 10th, 2008, 03:05 AM this hotel was proposed for Dubai , check the UAE proposed section
Beiruti March 10th, 2008, 08:00 AM ^^ Yes, but has it been approved? If not, there is a chance it could now be proposed for Beirut...
Jayme March 10th, 2008, 09:40 AM ^^ thats exremely wishfull thinking
AmeriLEB March 10th, 2008, 10:54 AM i dunno i don't think anyone would be planning that big a project when tourists are decling, nationals are told not come, and we don;t even know if the country will exist next month...who would risk that kind of money and announce it at this time???
Beiruti March 10th, 2008, 03:06 PM ^^ Well it says that it wont be announced until August 2008. I am very doubtful about this but I am still interested in knowing the full story behind it and what the plans really are...

well who sent you this email Lebgurl?? Maybe they would have more information about it, because it seems that this hotel was proposed in Dubai according to the threads, but where did this information come from?
lebgurl March 10th, 2008, 11:10 PM ^^ Random forward .. sorry im not sure what the source is and i can't even find the e-mail :S
besides, this thing wouldn't stand up to winter surges and earthquakes that lebanon has ... although if it were in the shape of a cedar tree it would be cooler ... but as it is, its not going to work
sargon March 12th, 2008, 11:01 AM http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=1389
lebgurl March 12th, 2008, 04:17 PM ^^ thanks
DingoBingo March 12th, 2008, 07:07 PM 10 stars, ROFL!!!
ZOHAR March 12th, 2008, 09:48 PM amazing one!
houssam March 12th, 2008, 10:07 PM should we delete this thread ?? i guess it is sure now that it is planned for Dubai
Chucky.LB March 12th, 2008, 10:14 PM Yes because its just depressing lol, id really like to kno where the person who first posted this got his information from
Jayme March 13th, 2008, 12:14 AM I know , get rid of this thread ITS STUPID !
Beiruti March 13th, 2008, 01:16 AM should we delete this thread ?? i guess it is sure now that it is planned for Dubai
We cannot be 100% sure. Maybe it was planned for Dubai but it wasn't approved and now is proposed for Beirut (or will be in August).
Remember, this isnt an official project thread -- this subforum is for general discussion about projects and development (whether it is just speculation or not).
john2890 March 13th, 2008, 12:37 PM ah come on, its obviously a spoof-thread. i mean, the original poster isnt known! i'd say delete it and put it back up once you have proper info.
Jayme March 13th, 2008, 01:55 PM because some people think this project will be for Lebanon.....
LeB.Fr March 13th, 2008, 02:06 PM John is right...This project is really nice but does not fit well in Beirut...
houssam March 13th, 2008, 05:16 PM ^^ yeah but it's too bad really ............
other than that it doesnt fit in beirut , when projects r being halted and foreigners r fleeing the country (the situation isnt that bad but it's like that in the media) a mega mega project like that is kind of an impossible fantasy
and besides 3.5 billion ?? this could end world hunger
DELETE IT ..............
Jayme March 13th, 2008, 05:25 PM 3.5 billion for a hotel is not worth it, Houssam said it could end world hunger ... maybe
but there is alot more better things it go can towards.
Beiruti March 13th, 2008, 09:03 PM The people have spoken... for now I will close the thread and will consult Nadini to see if it should be deleted.
:lock:
P.S. The reason this topic was pulled out of the Project Gossip thread was because it had enough responses and drew enough attention that it could stand alone as its own thread.
Beiruti March 21st, 2008, 01:25 AM According to AmeriLEB, this project is a reality!
-- therefore this thread is re-opened!
Beiruti March 21st, 2008, 01:27 AM AmeriLEB - please post the original article as well as an English translation (if possible). Thanks!
LeB.Fr March 21st, 2008, 01:28 AM I'm really confused...how come there's a real project, and we don't know for what city is it planned???
Beiruti March 21st, 2008, 01:33 AM ^^ It will be in Beirut.
LeB.Fr March 21st, 2008, 01:35 AM ^^Are you 100% sure?? Then what about Apeiron Island Hotel in Dubai??
Beiruti March 21st, 2008, 01:37 AM ^^ Please translate:
LeB.Fr March 21st, 2008, 01:47 AM ^^It means:
The Sea Hotel...just a dream!

This project is planned for Dubai (bla bla bla) There are many gossips for new projects in Lebanon in a time lebanese need hope..etc
See!! This project is for Dubai, not Beiut!!
LeB.Fr March 21st, 2008, 01:55 AM Actually, the rticle says "this project was proposed to dubai but "3adam woujoud jadwaho al éktisadiyya" (what does it mean) brought it to beirut"
*confused*
Beiruti March 21st, 2008, 01:56 AM ^^ Hmm... so maybe this really is a hoax
AmeriLEB March 21st, 2008, 04:15 AM That was in todays Nahar
Nadini March 21st, 2008, 04:15 AM its impossible to build such project off the coast of Beirut, the sea is too rough for such projects and it will sink in a matter of years so i'm not to excited about it bcuz I know it will not happen
AmeriLEB March 21st, 2008, 04:20 AM Heres the link:

As far as the waves...the design shows a lagoon which would act as a natural wave breaker. It is possible to engineer this....Guess we have to wait until August....These investors must have major Faith that Lebanon will overcome its problems...I hope it happens...they still need aproval etc...so lets see
Ok after writing this i just translated the bottom part.....Will see if its a hoax i guess...
Jayme March 21st, 2008, 04:38 AM Im a Realist... and I think This project will never see the light of day ... in Lebanon
Hassoun March 21st, 2008, 03:29 PM Well,If the Political crisis ends,I say this is definitely gonna be in Beirut.
AmeriLEB March 22nd, 2008, 01:52 AM I emailed the architects if i get a reply i wioll post it
Jayme March 22nd, 2008, 02:18 AM Well,If the Political crisis ends,I say this is definitely gonna be in Beirut.
You are far to Optimistic, thats not allways a good thing.
houssam March 22nd, 2008, 08:40 PM i really dream this would happen but the annahar article didnt add any thing, we know it was emailed to everyone ............... enno come on we "live" on gossip here .............i donnu we shall wait and see

CharoogAjram December 5th, 2008, 02:35 AM http://sharkride.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/Aperion-island-hotel.jpg
Remember back a couple months ago the Aperion Hotel which was going to be built off the coast of Beirut? It was the said it was a hoax and it was actually a project for Dubai.
Well I guess they were wrong. The project is real, and this time for Beirut!
Check it out here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyDCk0nY3oI&feature=channel
Rabih December 5th, 2008, 02:40 AM ^^ that means absolutely nothing
CharoogAjram December 5th, 2008, 02:44 AM no at the end of the video it shows something how it was converted over to beirut
Beiruti December 5th, 2008, 03:18 AM Whoever made this video is clearly a forumer/lurker here at SSC.
As Rabih said, it means absolutely nothing because it has no official source confirming anything. There is no new information either. This is basically a continuation of the hoax. Just because some anonymous person says something in an amature youtube video doesn't mean it's true.
AmeriLEB December 5th, 2008, 07:08 PM I saw that..who knows..until we see something more concrete...i think it would be cool if placed right..but now with the current world economy who has 3 billion?
melkart June 13th, 2009, 05:57 AM I think this project is definitly a hoax! and I hope it stays that way!
