As I guessed, it seems that Paris is heading the wrong direction...direction Dubai.

Langur March 12th, 2008, 02:01 AM The yellow one is nice (though I wish it wasn't yellow). That one at least is better than the other two 300m towers proposed for Paris. Nouvel's design is really disappointing.
Minato ku March 12th, 2008, 02:35 AM This time, Foster design is good. (the orange)
It is my favorite for this project. :ok:
Don't only look these bad renders, it is better to look the offical site with videos etc...

Manuel March 12th, 2008, 09:27 AM Thanks Minato.
Seems like the Nouvel tower, which is dated before even being constructed, has some good features. The cladding is quite interesting and the internal space is very adventurous considering that it is corporate architecture after all.
eklips March 12th, 2008, 11:23 AM The Foster and Libeskind towers are the best, the Ferrier one is really mediocre.
tonkster March 12th, 2008, 12:08 PM Too many wacky designs. They are trying too hard to rival The City of Londons new towers. Its a shame, La Defense is very promising.
ParisianStyle March 15th, 2008, 06:05 PM It's a shame for La Défense if towers like Ferrier one or Foster one are built
I think the better is the Libeskind one, because of its design and its location near the Grande Arche and in mirror with Phare; I'm lookin forward to know the chosen project
Sorry for my bad english :)

I agree, the Libeskind tower looks really promising, the others look ok except for the Nouvel tower, which looks awful.
And your English isn't that bad, it is much better than my French! :)
delores March 27th, 2008, 12:57 PM the foster building is ok, clever yes, but on the skyline it will look very bland. The Libeskind tower will look far better.

Its what you get when you plonk all the new tall buildings into a segregated district completely seperated from the old, it becomes basically what Dubai is, an international resort.
clarky March 28th, 2008, 11:39 PM Nice collection of scrapers for Paris i like them all except the first one:)

Exactly. I always though that historic city centres are much more challenging for contemporary architecture.
La Defense and CW may have advantages on numerous criteria but in the aesthetic department they fail.
ParisianStyle April 14th, 2008, 09:59 PM Final project will be choosed on may 26th instead of April, they "need more time"
:) more time to choose the ugliest, as usual... (no I'm nasty, Phare is great)
DarJoLe April 14th, 2008, 11:38 PM I think they're all more exciting than what London is getting to be honest. That's not to say I would want them in London, because London isn't Paris. But I definitely think they have a real sense of French vision that if proposed for London would simply be watered down by nimbys to an unsatisfactory conclusion.
TallBox April 19th, 2008, 01:16 PM Urgh. The Ferrier looks like something from China... or Belgrade. The others aren't too bad...
