I'll try again some other time. ^^Work's now,Sorry! shane453 November 28th, 2010, 09:41 PM Been a while since this thread was updated, here are a few shots from the "Skyscrapers Under Construction" section thread. Russian Sam is a scale model maker from St. Petersburg who posts on SkyscraperCity. He was recently invited to Oklahoma City to take part in the Creativity World Forum because of his work on a tiny paper model of our downtown, which you can find here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1088789 While he was here they gave him a helicopter ride around downtown, and he got some really great photos of the Devon Tower with our skyline- here are a few of the best ones of the tower from different angles, but check out the rest of his photos on his Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44533223@N08/ Over Bricktown, looking Northwest (You can even see the Lake Hefner/NW Expressway skyline on the horizon) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5125/5204448717_2819cf78e4_b.jpg Over the Film Exchange, looking northeast http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5204/5205043046_be2c567af9_b.jpg Over the Film Exchange, looking east http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5206/5204451487_5d989fa2eb_b.jpg Over Midtown, looking southeast http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/5205944505_7cb6955404_b.jpg TU 'cane November 29th, 2010, 03:18 AM I know I ask this all of the time and it probably drives you nuts, but are there any further rumors or speculations of the proposed mid or high rise residential tower by Rick Dale(?) was it? shane453 November 29th, 2010, 06:07 PM No additional rumors about Dowell's project, but now the attention is on the downtown Ford dealership site which spans more than 3 full blocks. The dealership is closing and the developers are going to build a mix of retail and residential there, and the Core to Shore planning study recommended a high-density structure on that site. ein okc! November 30th, 2010, 11:44 AM okc has some relatively interesting density that surrounds its downtown along the west flank. you never really notice it in person though. it would have naturally made more sense to revitalize that area in the 90s than bricktown. but who cares about naturally making sense. TU 'cane December 1st, 2010, 04:30 AM No additional rumors about Dowell's project, but now the attention is on the downtown Ford dealership site which spans more than 3 full blocks. The dealership is closing and the developers are going to build a mix of retail and residential there, and the Core to Shore planning study recommended a high-density structure on that site. Seems like the Dowell project may be scrapped or held off completely for a few years, at least considering the current economic climate... And is the Ford dealership closing have anything to do with the Ford Center negotiations? Where is the current location by the way? shane453 December 2nd, 2010, 06:51 PM The Ford site is quite large, adjacent to both Myriad Garden and the arena, and will benefit from proximity to new Devon Tower and its location along the future boulevard. I believe the naming rights and the downtown dealership were somehow connected. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/eyeblink/dealershipsite.jpg TU 'cane December 3rd, 2010, 03:19 AM Thanks much again Shane. What does it have? About 20 more floors still to be added? Yeah, it made it to 29 floors before the storm and will surpass the Chase Tower soon! dmoor82 February 15th, 2011, 12:02 AM Here is The best collection of Devon Energy Center photos IMO! http://www.flickriver.com/search/devon+energy+tower/recent/ shane453 March 7th, 2011, 02:22 AM Well, this tower is very quickly establishing itself more and more as the tallest building in town. Seeing it is an awesome experience, and now that it is the tallest, it is kind of jaw-dropping every time I go by. It's hard to imagine the skyline without Devon now. Here are some photos that caught my eye recently. This photo is taken from the Lake Hefner dam, a 9 (!) mile crow flight from Devon Tower. Foreground highrises are residential and office buildings are part of the NW Expressway business district. Downtown buildings peek over the ridge, and Devon is going to soar into view over Lake Hefner. From Mrktguy29, Photobucket. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l527/mrktguy29/Devon%20Tower%202%2027%2011/IMG_4645.jpg This one wowed me too, by OURulz2000 at OKCTalk. The canyon on Harvey is pretty dramatic now, with the view terminated by the public rotunda of the Devon Tower. The street will be a new "view/pedestrian spine" for downtown, which will extend through a new central park south to the river via a high-design pedestrian bridge over I-40. http://i56.tinypic.com/2z6b9n5.jpg desertpunk May 6th, 2011, 05:21 AM A shot from April http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5131/5582187745_6ec96f51d5_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5582187745/) Devon at 38 Floors (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5582187745/) by Paul L McCord Jr (http://www.flickr.com/people/plmccordj/), on Flickr dmoor82 May 6th, 2011, 02:38 PM OKC skyline at sunrise from 15-20 miles out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PnFi4UZSgbc desertpunk May 20th, 2011, 10:00 PM May 19 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2356/5737773111_3e1420e293_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5737773111/) Devon Energy Center (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5737773111/) by Paul L McCord Jr (http://www.flickr.com/people/plmccordj/), on Flickr desertpunk June 14th, 2011, 11:00 PM Devon at 45 floors, June 1 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2011/5787862503_f7382a2d4e_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5787862503/) Devon at 45 floors (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5787862503/) by Paul L McCord Jr (http://www.flickr.com/people/plmccordj/), on Flickr desertpunk June 16th, 2011, 10:18 PM June 15 - 47 floors http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2434/5837815820_4502c7f286_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5837815820/) Devon at 47 floors (http://www.flickr.com/photos/plmccordj/5837815820/) by Paul L McCord Jr (http://www.flickr.com/people/plmccordj/), on Flickr desertpunk July 5th, 2011, 01:55 PM July 4th http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6053/5902608928_27063538c8_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9014442@N05/5902608928/) Oklahoma City Skyline - July 4th, 2011 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9014442@N05/5902608928/) by sseiyah (http://www.flickr.com/people/9014442@N05/), on Flickr StevenW July 5th, 2011, 05:08 PM very nice. ^^ dmoor82 July 11th, 2011, 01:48 AM A month or so from being Topped out! It's a taste of things to come for OKC. :) Unfortunately, Chesapeake Energy is ensconced in their low-rise campus of 3-5 story buildings which they are adding to so a tower for them is very unlikely. Sandridge Energy has a site downtown for a tower rumored to be 20 floors and may build at some time in the near future.
