Wilmington has several neighborhoods that are small in size, being only a few blocks big. Trinity Vicinity, Midtown Brandywine, and Happy Valley are three neighborhoods that are small in size. All three neighborhoods help to encircle Center City, the main office and business district in Wilmington. Despite being right next to Center City, these neighborhoods are quiet. These neighborhoods also have some architecture which can't be seen in other neighborhoods in the city.

Trinity Vicinity is a small neighborhood south of Delaware Avenue, between the edge of Center City and I-95. The houses in Trinity Vicinity were mainly built in the mid-1880s, after the land became desirable with the opening of the Cool Spring reservoir to the immediate west. The neighborhood gets its name from Trinity Episcopal Church, located in the northwest corner of the neighborhood on Delaware Avenue.

Midtown Brandywine is a neighborhood in between the Brandywine River and 12th Street, with Washington Street to the west and Orange Street to the east. Center City borders Midtown Brandywine on the south and east, and Wilmington Hospital borders the neighborhood on the west. Due to the neighborhood's proximity to the Center City business district, the area has seen more interest in the last decade. Condominium projects have been proposed for the neighborhood, but residents do not welcome any increase in people and want the neighborhood to remain a quiet retreat from Center City.

The church was built in 1740 and was originally located at 10th & Market Streets, before being moved to its present location to make way for nwe developments next to Rodney Square in the 1918. The church was used by the British as a hospital as they marched towards Philadelphia during the Revolutionary War.

Happy Valley is located northeast of Delaware Avenue and northwest of the Wilmington & Brandywine Cemetery. The Brandywine River runs along the northern edge of the neighborhood, and the Trolley Square neighborhood is to the northwest, up the hill from the area. Happy Valley is a small neighborhood that was torn in half when I-95 was built starting in 1962. Many people who lost their homes are mad at the city, state, and national governments to this day because of losing their homes.
