Anyway the new Moscow-City cluster is awesome, but still pretty small (area-wise). Anyone know if there are any plans for a wider cluster? Also I think Moscow should stick to the newer type glass and steel scrapers, instead of the neocommie type Triumph-palace buildings...imho. Any thoughts?

"Best skylines in EE" can be interpreted to include photos of cities/capitals with a variety in size as well... for a city its size (600 000) - Prishtinas "skyline" is not that bad (with many interesting projects coming up ;) )

If you wanted to have a thread with only the very best skylines in it: it should be named "Top 5 skylines in EE" or something like that..

However, to me, Warsaw is not only the best in EE, but the most beautiful skyline in all Europe! Even after the supertalls are built in Moscow it will never look like this...

Istanbul is very nice (the old town is gorgeous), but for me some of the skyscrapers are too flashy and I don't like how there are "twin" skyscrapers right next to each other. However, it does have a lot of nice ones too.

Warsaw Financial Center can be divided into two sections. The lower part corresponds to an average height of surrounding low-rise residentials, while the upper to western center's high-rises.
- The tower's core is made up of two solids: the first, a cuboid and the second, two storys higher, three-side in projection and slightly bulged in the southern side.
- Every second pillar in the exterior of the plith part is a dummy. However, their aim is to strenghten the impression of the pedestal's solidity.

The terraced retail and entertainment levels rise into upper-level office towers,while culminating below in a lively park built just below-grade, making it easily accessible from the adjacent Warszawa Centralna train station and existing pedestrian tunnels. To reconnect the urban fabric, Jerde designed Zlote Tarasy with a pedestrian network that links the train station with the historic city center, as well as additional entrances that restore the urban grid lost during the war. Prishtinas current skyline, is certainly no match for Sarajevo now... But, this can be radically changed within the next 5 years or so, if Sarajevo doesn't keep up coming with new projects :D

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (also known by the acronym KPF) is an international architectural design firm located in New York City, providing urban design and master planning for public authorities and private companies. The firm's designs can be seen in commercial skyscrapers such as the Shanghai World Financial Center. In 1990, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded KPF with its Architectural Firm Award.

After several designs, the firm’s first major building was 333 Wacker Drive (Chicago, 1983), a 36-story green glass office tower whose sculptural curtain wall imitated the bending Chicago River along its triangular site. The structure exploited the sheer reflective mass of the curtain wall by minimizing individual windows through tinting gray green the vertical aluminum window mullions. Green marble and gray granite octagonal columns at the base level made a subtle reference to the Merchandise Mart’s octagonal towers across the river. It's quite weird since Eastern Europe in this thread is a political term(former communist countries) and have nothing to do with geography or culture so Turkey on the Nato side during the cold war doesn't really fit here...

It's not our fault if the other essential Nato countries don't build skyscrapers in the region:D

Now the tallest are Palace of Culture and Science (297 m), Warsaw Trade Tower (208 m) and Rondo 1 (192 m).

In future it will be ORCO Tower (350 m), Lindleya Office Corner (330 m) and Kulczyk Real Estate Tower (282 m).

I love the Moscow City cluster, but you cannot say Moscow has a better skyline than Warsaw, because it is still only one cluster--the other buildings in Moscow are butt-ugly, you cannot deny this, unless you are a fan of communist-type architecture like the 6 sisters. Warsaw already has several clusters that are up and growing (in śródmieście and wola).

I would be interested in seeing some pictures of Moscow like this, because to be honest, I don't think there are any with a similar feel--which is why I think Warsaw beats Moscow--and also most of the latest pictures of Moscow City seem to be from quite a distance, so you can't fully appreciate the buildings. You know this is just matter of angle you take the picture from. It doesn't have anything to do with skyline. On the first picture you see a lot of commies and midrises which fill the picture and give you a dense feeling and the second picture is just random. So it's the photographer that is good in this case not the skyline.

Why do Russians say that Moscow is better, with just one cluster??? Istanbul and Warsaw both have a far larger skyline than Moscow, because they have more than one cluster. So the ranking should be 1. Istanbul 2. Warsaw 3. Moscow...however, I personally like Warsaw more because of the style of architecture, but I can understand how someone would say Istanbul is #1. You're right about one thing, there are a lot of commieblocks in Warsaw, but thats' because we were in the Communist Bloc and that's what was built back then. The modern skyline of Warsaw does not have any commieblocks, so that whole discussion is OT.

What's bad with having one dense cluster instead of a scattered one? Mascow has a planned CBD wheras Istanbul and Warsaw grow naturally, that's the difference. Beside this Moscow's skyline is very young, I'm sure we'll see many new buildings added to the sklyine which will make it look much wider.

Lol, whats this bullshit about only one cluster in Moscow? Spread out skylines only have advantage over dense clusters whe they are really large, like hundreds of towers of NY, or at least dozens of them. Claiming that your skyline is larger, when it only have 2 or 3 towers more is absolutely retarded.
100 or 50 scatered towers can form a better skyline than great cluster of 10 towers
12 scatered towers can not.

Don't forget that developers have been hit very hard by the crisis, chances are that many project in Moscow/Warsaw/everywhere will be put on hold for some time (if not completely canceled)
