View Full Version : Seattle City/Bldgs/Harbor and Bellevue cpm_seattle March 23rd, 2008, 10:54 AM Just a handful of pictures I've taken over the past few months... Puinkabouter March 23rd, 2008, 06:02 PM Beautiful! One of my favourite North-American cities. I love the skyline combined with the mountain range in the distance, and then with the water everywhere... Brilliant setting. I even know it from playing a couple of videogames. When I was a little boy I was a real airplane-fanatic and I used to play a flight simulator game called "Flight Unlimited III", in which you could fly a couple of airplanes, only in the Seattle area. And the PS1 game of the X-Files was set in Seattle as well. Really loved that game too. If I ever get to visit North-America, Seattle is definitely high on my A-list of places to visit. Ow, and I almost forgot: very good work! -KwK345- March 23rd, 2008, 06:12 PM GREAT photos!! Love the "old" WaMu tower. AMAZING photos of the cascades in the background! I couldn't really see the cascdes when I went to Seattle last summer. I really want to go to the Cascade Mountains now! Anyway, two thumbs up! mhays March 23rd, 2008, 11:06 PM You've GOT to be kidding! Maybe it's a religious day after all! In particular, the January Bellevue shot is possibly the best Bellevue shot ever. Black Box March 24th, 2008, 12:00 AM That panorama shot is hard to beat. I'm dying for the day when 5th and Columbia is completed. Until then, keep showing off our spectacular skyline. cpm_seattle March 24th, 2008, 04:03 AM puinkabouter -- I have some friends in Oostakker! kevin_k, mhays and blackbox -- thanks for the look and the comments. XiaoBai March 24th, 2008, 08:55 AM You've GOT to be kidding! Maybe it's a religious day after all! In particular, the January Bellevue shot is possibly the best Bellevue shot ever. Yep. I nearly soiled myself when I saw that shot. Sick set! Keep it up! guinessbeer55 March 25th, 2008, 06:25 AM probably one of the best sets of photos Ive seen!! pwright1 March 25th, 2008, 11:40 AM These are absolutely beautiful of our beautiful Emerald City. Wow. philadweller March 25th, 2008, 08:08 PM Great camera, great lighting and great eye. Bellevue is looking sexy these days. AJphx March 28th, 2008, 12:00 PM impressive, i especially liked seeing the photos of the port, which always interest me, and the bellevue night shot... thats a view i havent seen before, it looks good. Aaron W March 28th, 2008, 06:22 PM You've GOT to be kidding! Maybe it's a religious day after all! In particular, the January Bellevue shot is possibly the best Bellevue shot ever. I agree! I was just sitting here and upon seeing that photo I literally yelled out "OH MY GOD!" It is an incredible photo! But these are all great. I've said it before, but I'll say it again - if I were to ever move away from Chicago, Seattle would probably be my #1 choice. Puinkabouter March 28th, 2008, 06:27 PM puinkabouter -- I have some friends in Oostakker! The world is such a small place :) Seattlelife April 7th, 2008, 07:55 AM The Bellevue Sunrise and Bellevue January 2008 shots are spectacular. Thank you for sharing!! cpm_seattle April 8th, 2008, 06:14 AM Thanks for the look, Seattlelife. Alibaba April 8th, 2008, 12:15 PM very good.. beautiful city mhays April 9th, 2008, 08:38 AM Another masterpiece. KidGibNick April 9th, 2008, 09:08 AM what are the different areas around Seattle like to live in....Bremerton, Bellevue, Tacoma, etc? guinessbeer55 April 10th, 2008, 03:08 AM ^^ The eastside suburbs are by far the most affluent. The cities of Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Issaquah and others. Bill Gates and Paul Allen live on the eastside. However they do not come close to Seattle in terms of entertainment, nightlife, restraunts, shopping, culture etc. Tacoma is kind of iffy. Its downtown and certain areas are nice but as you go south its gets kind of bad around the tacoma mall. Bremerton and the Kitsap Penninsula are lovely!! lots of natural beauty. In my opinion Seattle is the best place to live!! The eastside would be next preferably in Kirkland or Bellevue. mhays April 10th, 2008, 06:17 AM Bremerton is utterly dominated by the Navy, with multiple huge bases. It's a scenic hour ferry ride from Seattle. It's historically been blue collar and cheap with a half-abandoned downtown, but in this decade its downtown has been getting an infusion of waterfront housing, parks, small office buildings, and tourism. Tacoma's downtown was also horrible 15 years ago. A series of localized upgrades since then is starting to create some cohesion and prosperity. These include a theater district (early 90s I'm guessing), a new University of Washington branch campus, a very successful new museum district next to the UW, a revitalized waterfront, probably 1,500 (wild guess) units of new housing in the central-most square mile but generally not in the CBD proper, a new convention center, a new hotel or two, a few small and mid-sized office buildings, a new free streetcar, and so on. As for the rest of the city, everything north and northwest of Downtown is great and the rest is generally low-rent, at least by Seattle standards. The Eastside is ok as suburbs go. Downtown Bellevue is on the verge of being a legitimate second downtown for the region. More and more Seattle suburbs are getting good lowrise downtowns, and Kirkland is one of the best and largest of these. stupac April 10th, 2008, 11:51 AM Awesome city and fantastic photos! AltiusAltiusAltius April 12th, 2008, 03:04 PM :applause: cpm_seattle April 12th, 2008, 09:23 PM Thanks for the looks and replies. mhays April 13th, 2008, 03:43 AM Holy crap that's awesome. Pano especially. cpm_seattle June 14th, 2008, 09:38 AM I took these several weeks ago (late April or early May) bobtron June 14th, 2008, 01:15 PM Very nice!! So want to live there, it's actually so much bigger than i thought, lol i guess Grey's Anatomy shows only part of the city! It's very Sydney meets Vancouver, meets Tokyo (because of the red and white cranes) mhays June 14th, 2008, 09:55 PM Thanks for the pics cpm seattle! Funny, I know cpm types who live in Leschi... bobtron, even though I love (obsess about) this city, we have a long way to go to reach Vancouver's or Sydney's density. But we're heading in the right direction. It's good to hear compliments in any case! We have a similar spirit to those cities in many ways. McGrupp34 June 15th, 2008, 01:08 AM I haven't been in Seattle since early april and looking at your shots almost made me cry, i miss it so bad. Beautiful pictures of our beautiful city... Thanks WESTSEATTLEGUY June 15th, 2008, 02:21 AM Looking through this thread this pics have surprised/shocked me in many ways! I love all your pics of the port and especially of your downtown Bellevue night shots. Also you seem take pics on the perfect days when the mountains are snow covered all the way to the hills. Those last batch of pics were exceptionally wonderful! I love the first one you just posted! Bring on more! cpm_seattle August 5th, 2008, 07:28 AM Thankfully, there are lots of photo ops in Seattle... mhays August 6th, 2008, 08:09 AM Dear baghwan! That's quality. I count 19 tower cranes in the pano. WESTSEATTLEGUY August 6th, 2008, 09:03 AM Beautiful pics! Great work! plcmat August 6th, 2008, 10:07 PM These photos are fantastic. I've been to Seattle three times and eagerly look forward to my next visit. Have to disagree on 1201 3rd Avenue though. My impression both in picture and in person is that the architect didn't know when to quit. I actually prefer 70's boxes to early 80's overly designed rococo skyscrapers (and Boston has some too). Quall August 8th, 2008, 04:22 AM Beautiful city. I would love to visit. :) Great shots. cpm_seattle August 11th, 2008, 08:18 AM ...mhays, westseattleguy, plcmat and trmd -- for taking a look and the positive comments. haldcottingham August 11th, 2008, 06:48 PM These are all amazing shots! You should consider posting these in the Urban Photo Contest. Seattlelife August 11th, 2008, 11:45 PM I love the shot of Bellevue with the boats on Lake Washington. Great photos cpm, feel free to update this thread at any time lol. Evan August 13th, 2008, 02:41 PM I've been lucky to visit Seattle(thanks, AT&T!) on many occasions, and it is by far my favorite US city. Oh, and besides being a stunningly beautiful city, the people are cool as shit! They take things a little easier up there, despite it being a major city. We used to love to get out and walk around and meet people. While the rest of the US is running around in this or that drama, Seattle is more like, "Yeah, OK. Whatever, bitches!" Awesome place. cpm_seattle August 13th, 2008, 08:39 PM ...and the looks. haldcottingham... I've spent a lot of time in SoCal... downtown (755 Wall St. in the old flower market); I-10 west to UCLA and Santa Monica; SF Valley and the area around LACC/Vermont (construction projects); Gardena and Manhattan Beach in the 1970's and 1980's (Japanese family friends); and a ton of time in OC on business. LAX, SNA, BUR, LGB and ONT -- of course. seattlelife... thanks for the permission to update the thread! evan... I spent a summer in Huntsville when I was working for Boeing in the mid-1980's -- and certainly know where Gadsden is!
