=============================
This Mosque since it started construction in 1996 underwent many many redesigns and ended up costing 10 times the original price. Tourists are allowed in with tour guides and also get the chance to learn more about islam and islamic architecture :)
Ill leave you with these amazing pictures taken by Osama, who happens to be an enviromental engineer with a very good eye !

clone54 February 28th, 2008, 07:14 PM It's amazing but I don't like the Roses or leaves what ever those are attached to the Whitle Marble Columns. It doesn't look good also the exterior Building Dome looks like the Taj Mahal which I don't like either. Makes you feel like your in India or something From the Outside. But other then that the Interior is amazing. Great Job!
smussuw February 29th, 2008, 09:31 AM the roses and the leaves are the things I most admired in the mosque decoration
smussuw March 25th, 2008, 07:35 AM Not by me

*UofT* March 25th, 2008, 08:43 AM Is it on Abu Dhabi Island?
smussuw March 25th, 2008, 08:57 AM ^^ yes at the beginning of the island
Halawala March 25th, 2008, 09:37 AM Mashalla its very grand and glorious! Inshalla I get a chance to pray there very soon. :D
BigDreamer March 25th, 2008, 10:12 AM omg, its sooo beautiful, I love it so much. one of the nicest mosques i've ever seen,
Is it open to the public? or do you have to be a vip to pray there ?
Thanks smussuw for posting
*UofT* March 25th, 2008, 10:28 AM How is it possible to have a mosque where you have to be VIP to pray there?
Do you need to be VIP to pray in Makkah?, LOL come on.
smussuw March 25th, 2008, 06:27 PM ^^ I think u insisted about many stuff regarding Islam in ur posts in different threads. Don't think that u need to do that here.
Beiruti March 25th, 2008, 08:15 PM I never thought I would see an escalator inside a mosque...impressive.
Hassoun March 25th, 2008, 08:51 PM THIS MOSQUE IS BEAUTIFUL !!!! MASHALLAH
Redalinho March 25th, 2008, 09:17 PM Beautiful architecture, the only thing that I didin't like are the golden chapters

BigDreamer March 26th, 2008, 01:52 AM ^^ I think u insisted about many stuff regarding Islam in ur posts in different threads. Don't think that u need to do that here.
surly you've mistaken me with someone else :bash:
*UofT* March 26th, 2008, 01:54 AM surly you've mistaken me with someone else :bash:
LOL, I think he meant me.
And No Smussuw, I wasn't insisting anything with regards to Islam.
I think its pretty much common sense that you wouldn't have VIP only in any Mosque or religious building.
*UofT* March 26th, 2008, 01:56 AM A lot of people dont' like the flowers in the decore, But a lot of old mosques have paintings or tiles of flowers its suppose to be a depiction of the Garden of Eden.
smussuw March 26th, 2008, 10:19 AM Neither of u, IDIOTS !!! It was for someone else whose post got deleted now.
*UofT* March 26th, 2008, 10:32 AM hahaha classic ssc moment!
CrazY March 26th, 2008, 11:48 AM the exterior of the mosque is a bit boring and unoriginal, but the interior is amazing with lots of beautiful colours and tiles
Dubai_Boy March 26th, 2008, 12:04 PM the interior is soooooooo over the top it would make anything look "normal" in comparison ..... and the exterior is beautiful and original.
smussuw March 26th, 2008, 12:36 PM my friend was saying that if the cost of Emirates Palace was 1 billion then the Grand Mosque must have cost 10 billions.
Sdare March 26th, 2008, 01:17 PM 10 billions.
are you serious!
Purple Dreams March 26th, 2008, 03:03 PM my friend was saying that if the cost of Emirates Palace was 1 billion then the Grand Mosque must have cost 10 billions.
Ameri would not give the total cost of the mosque, but Suleimani estimated it at more than two billion dirhams (545 million dollars).
Purple Dreams March 26th, 2008, 03:06 PM I don't know if it was worth spending all that money but I like this mosque
smussuw March 26th, 2008, 03:52 PM are you serious!no am not.
He was just saying that it was obvious that the mosque looks way more luxurious than Emirates Palace.
Skyprince April 17th, 2008, 06:34 AM It's bigger than Grand Qaboos Mosque in Muscat / Will definitely pay a visit there once im in Emirates again !
Afghan April 17th, 2008, 06:57 AM omg, its sooo beautiful, I love it so much. one of the nicest mosques i've ever seen,

Thanks smussuw for posting
What non sense??? No one needs to be a VIP to pray in a Masjid. In fact Masjid is the only place where VIPs and commoners can congregate together standing shoulder to shoulder with each other. Take Makkah Mukarammah for example, there you can see all races of the world standing side by side to each other and Islam emphasizes on equality therefore you dont need to be a VIP to visit any Masjid but yes you have to be a Muslim to Pray in a Masjid standing next to a VIP or a common person like me.
Thanks for attention.
Afghan April 17th, 2008, 07:05 AM Salaams all,
I had heard that this grand Masjid was contracted to an Italian firm and as such, one can easily see an Islamic kum Italian style in the interiors. I personally feel the interiors are artistic and simple. It is for sure that given the chance, Islamic artists would have made it much much creative and more intensive than the current marble facades with rose pattern inlaids which is very basic and simple. The golden touch is typical Arabic preference. Nonetheless, the whole building is marvelous and elaborately bright and artistic but of course could be more creative.
Thanks

Dubai_Boy May 7th, 2011, 05:24 PM What were YOU doing at low class cheap wedding halls aye ? ;)
I would never in a million years do my home up this way , but it looks really good when the building is a few villages Big. You can get away with a few interior design No Nos :D
You will love it when you visit it.
p.s mosques should be simple and serve its purpose only.
Imre May 7th, 2011, 05:25 PM Well done Imre , what did you think of the finishing of the interior ?
