CHI3 March 26th, 2008, 06:18 AM So it's been downsized ?
Information from my direct contact with the developer Nov 2007:
The first tower is 62 floors (which would be height around 210m + spire/ornaments = around 230m. Scheduled completion is Dec 2009.
The second tower is now on sale and will be 89 levels (height around 310 m + spire = total around 340 m. Completion scheduled for end of 2010.
So possibly this is the highest project under construction now? (together with los faros de Panama)
Dale March 26th, 2008, 06:22 AM Sounds like the second tower will begin soon, seeing as how it has a 2010 completion date.

In terms of a building boom, yes, but Panama City seems more like a real city.

Their is another thread for this tower in Supertalls section. Unless the 340m/89 fl tower portion has been cancelled and nobody bothered to mention it.

BTW thanks for the posting the picture. Tremendous progress.
spectre000 June 20th, 2009, 01:45 AM ask: how many meters??? this project changed?
Not sure if your asking how high is it now or will it be when complete. But this section is the 230 meter, 63 floor tower. Supposedly their is another 89 floor tower to be connected to this one u/c... but could be cancelled, on hold, phase II...
No Change No Future June 20th, 2009, 02:18 AM the second tower has never been U/C, rumours are it'll begin after the first tower, or maybe not at all

Phase II, that thread should be removed from the supertall section as it belongs to the same 230m tower.

jonorati July 8th, 2009, 12:40 AM I am currently an architecture student at the University of South Florida and I am working on my thesis. My site is located in Punta Paitilla, Panama. I just currently visited the site and was in the central mall when I saw a model of the city and the new Megapolis tower. I would like to know if anyone knows the architect and also who built the context model. I am looking for images and or 3D model of the area to help me in building my context model for my thesis. Any information about the city will help tremendously. Thank you

Manitopiaaa February 11th, 2011, 05:27 AM To my more or less i like for the glasses jeje, since here in Panama there are many towers with this glass, uff all the place.
Every building in Panama is blue and white. There are no other colors. I remember the renders for Rivage showed the cladding being colorful and cool, then the real cladding begins and-blue and white. How annoying!

Nothing is happenning right now.....the field is full of scraps from the under construction one.....what we do know is that they want to finish this one first, and then start promoting the taller one. We look forward for the taller one being built.
Greetings!

We have a friend on the ground who recently said that the building doesn't look finished though, they are still putting windows in!

The construction on the building is almost finished, the spears are missing but in Panama you can get the occupation permits before the whole building is completed. The fire deparment makes sure everything is safe and give the go.
This pics are from May 14th.

Ni3lS May 24th, 2011, 06:11 PM The tower is actually starting to look nice with the sunshine on it. I hate the grey concrete but when the sun shines on it, it looks white. White is way more stylish and condo like, way better than the concrete commie look. I also like how the entrance/lobby turned out.

Geocarlos June 5th, 2011, 09:10 PM Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis, First Hard Rock Property in Latin America, Expected to Open December 2011
Marking its 16th property, and its first in Latin America, Hard Rock International today announced that the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis is expected to open in December 2011. The 66-story hotel, located in Panama City just a few miles from one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, the Panama Canal, will offer stunning panoramic views of the city and Panama Bay, with its yachts and sailboats. Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis, which brings the acclaimed "Hard Rock Hotel experience" to an ever-popular global tourist destination, is developed and owned by Megapolis Investment Group and will be managed locally by Decameron Hotels & Resorts.
Located on Balboa Avenue, and connected by bridgeway to the cross-street Multicentro Mall and the Megapolis Convention Center, currently under construction, Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis is situated on more than three-quarters of an acre, with lush landscaping and an oversized, free-form infinity pool with private cabanas. The hotel will have 1,499 rooms, including 796 suites, ranging in size from 462 square feet to 2,659-sq. ft. Rock Star Suites, a signature of the Hard Rock brand.
In addition to the existing Hard Rock Cafe in the attached Multicentro Mall, the hotel will offer eight food & beverage outlets, including an indoor/outdoor bar & club on the 62nd floor – an exclusive place to be seen, and to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the city and distant mountains – as well as a breakfast, lunch & dinner buffet. For those seeking relaxation, there will be a 7,800-sq. ft. Rock Spa® featuring 14 luxurious treatment rooms, and a Rock Shop® store for guest necessities and souvenirs. The hotel will also offer business travelers and special event patrons 24,250 square feet of flexible meeting space to accommodate gatherings large and small.
Throughout the hotel, guests will be able to see and experience an abundance of authentic rock memorabilia and state-of-the-art technology, including Hard Rock Hotel's popular amenity program The Sound of Your Stay®, which lets guests download complimentary music from distinct curated playlists.
The opening of Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis will allow guests to join Hard Rock's global network of hotels/casinos/cafes and participate in events, both local and global, such as its three-day music festival, "Hard Rock Calling," in London.
"We are proud to debut the Hard Rock Hotel brand in Latin America, a region with a rich musical culture," stated Hard Rock International Executive Vice President, Hotels & Casinos, Michael Shindler.
