It's an old tradition.
I guess if you really love somebody you put a lock on it. It shows your trully love or something.

Confirmed, there is one in Székesfehérvár. But it must be much less popular because there are much less locks.
I saw this in Pécs as well, there were some really funny things... There is a small carved plate on most locks with the name of lovers. I saw one saying 'Máté Ernő', another with 'Bibó István Gimnázium Kiskunhalas' and many with just the name of the producing company (one ironically saying BLISS - TOP SECURITY:)). It was really misunderstable seeing all this among the many locks with just two lovers' names.

Confirmed, there is one in Székesfehérvár.

I'm Vladimir and I'm from Croatia. Yesterday I have visited 'Sovsko Jezero' in southern part of Slavonija, where from I could see TV tower in Pécs and some other Hungarian hills, so take a look below.

I've been many times in beautiful Pécs but I have never believed that this is possible to see...

Atmosphere was very clear...I think that you could see Bosnia and Herzegovina from TV tower, from Pécs (because this place, Sovsko Jezero, is only 10-15 kilometers north of border with Bosnia).

It is pretty amazing, but if you think about it, from the TV tower on a clear day you can see Badacsony. I checked on Google earth, that's more or less a 100 Kilometers away.

Wow, probably the most brilliant collection of sightseeing pictures I have ever seen on Hungarian SSC (and there is a strong competition). Incredible!

Thanks guys, there are plenty of other sights that needs to be documented - maybe next time when I will go there! BTW: M6 is perfect: Budapest-Pécs 1,5 - 2 hours max.

I didn't know Hungary can be seen form that far away from the border. In Osijek we can see Nagyharsany even from the lower buildings, but I can't remember anyone mentioned seeing Pecs tower from taller ones. Amazing. So you can actually see Bosnian hills form Pecs tower in clear weather?

You guys have no idea just how lucky you are for having such a government that cares about his country and culture, so that your patrimony will be in its best care presented to delight even the most critical tourists. Instead, we've lost so much, and still we're losing our patrimony in favor of kitsch, shitie constructions. However, i want to congratulate those responsible for preserving your culture in such amazing way. I think we all derve to relax in a vacantion by visiting a place like this, once in a while. Don't we ?! :D :cheers:

However, we shouldn't even talk about the government we had for 8 years. Fortunately we finally have a real one.

I spent 2 days in Pécs on May 2009, and even if there were a lot of buildings and places/streets under renovation, I was really impressed to see the beauty of this little city. When I see these pics, it's clear that the city is even more beautiful since I was there.

And as 24days, I think it's great to see that Hungarian authorities take such care of their national patrimony.

I live in Pécs and it is amazing at night!!!!And the most beautiful is the Székesegyház Cathedral. The pictures are picturesque.
