Maybe it's just me, but I cannot stand this hotel. It looks so incredibly bland and boring, and blends in well with the clinical office parks next to it. It continues to screw up the urban fabric in which it is located, in that it is totally disconnected from its environment and, apart from Woodmead's value mall strip, is far away from any type of retail/entertainment offering. But I think the most ridiculous thing is that it overlooks the Buccleugh Interchange.

Surely Holiday Inn Express should be thinking more carefully about where it develops its hotels? Tourists are going to HATE Joburg if they end up staying here.

I can't agree more. Even buildings around it are better looking.

Well, it looks better at night with all neon lights on, it seems like it has opened doors for trade.

i agree. hotels need to be in an environment that is conducive to walking. they need to be in hub areas, where entertainment and all is right at hand. i have driven past this one a few times and it is yuck
