Porto Alegre has chosen another stadium (from Grêmio´s archrival).

They were reforming their stadium, but it has stopped and they are facing major problems. Because of that, Porto Alegre was excluded from the Confeds Cup today :ohno:

local politicians say FIFA doesnt accept a change of stadium after it was chosen initially. Very sad indeed that such a good stadium will not be used in the 2014 Cup.

1. Use the Gremio Arena for the WC2012.
2. Dont hold any WC2012 matches in Porto Alegre.

I doubt anything will come from the national government. Only FIFA and CBF can do something. But FIFA has been hearing excuses from Internacional since 2009, and never does anything. Contrary to what I first thought, they have the patience of an elephant.

probably. She ALREADY interfered in the process by speaking with Andrade Gutierrez representatives and asking them why they still had not signed the contract with Internacional, and saying "you know it my team, dont you??"

and of course, the threat tone is important, since Andrade Gutierrez has billions in contracts with the federal government.

Besides the Grêmio Arena be bigger than beira rio, it is a new and modern stadium.

Beira Rio is 42 years old, and have all the common problems to this age stage.

Even worse, the Grêmio Arena is strategically located, is adjacent to the airport, train station and an access to freeway (fastest and largest road to enter the city).

While Beira Rio is at the opposite point in the city, necessitating a trip around a city with narrow streets and chaotic transit to reach the stadium. 40 or 50 minutes.

In short, it is a shame and a waste of public resources the decision to make the WC in beira rio.

I believe everybody can understand that since it´s Brazil we´re talking about.

The best stadium, for the biggest club in Porto Alegre.

Looking at those pictures, seeing the quick growth of the Arena, it's kind difficult to find reasons to play the WC in the Beira Rio stadium, the only one I can see is POLITICS.

But the Grêmio is building it for its fans, not to "win" the "Who has the biggest/newest/better stadium" competition.

All I wanna know is about the ARENA... NOTHING ELSE! And that's my only issue with your pictures, since they are quite old, low quality and those arrows make them quite polluted (it's just too much). If you removed a few of them (including this strange filter) I wouldn't mind as much.

As for the statue, it COULD be interesting, even though I can't see where they would put it (as a matter of fact, you haven't informed us that either). I believe it can't be on top of the esplanade, due to structural reasons, so where would it be? Not to mention it would be quite expensive, so I can't see OAS doing it (it wasn't on the last amendment, either). So how would it be made?

tl;dr: I don't care about you, or orkut. I care about the Arena, so if you don't have anything to add to the discussion, please leave.

i am not against you or supportive, please, understand that.
My only interest is having updated news about how things are going in the Gremio Arena's development.
But i am really without that since the brazilian thread was closed. I do not have anything to do about your political issues about Gremio with this counselor or another. Maybe you are right, or not, i am not here to judge, but this is not the correct place to do it.
Maybe you should talk to them or debate this in the correct forum (Management Counsel or in the elections).
I think mostly of the people here do not have anything with this political matters. Most of the people here do not even participate in any Gremio's political group.
I had just joined the orkut community this week because i had to find out more information about the last developments in the arena, since the thread is closed.
So you are just pushing more people in that way. It had been times since i had last accessed orkut, i had just entered again because you did close the thread.
At last, what i am trying to say is, if the way things are discussed here does not attend your expectations, please do not bother the others who like that, or otherwise, you also can stay, but bring clever discussions and new photos and things like that (and maybe blueprints that we do not have and we are looking for for a while). I doubt that you would not be welcome if you act like that.
In time, i have also visited your community in orkut, and you do have good pictures and information, you can bring that. You do not have to deplore the others. Be superior than that. Act in a intelligent way, by being more clever and informative than the others.

So, in today's Zero Hora newspaper, mr. Zini Pires said that Gremio is still worried about the access roads to the Arena, since the government still hasn't invested enough. They were supposed to invest R$85 million, but so far only R$8.7 million has been invested.

This is a vital work for the Arena, and it's sad that our government is so sluggish (or even incompetent).

However, I have to say that dealing with traffic jams won't be anything new, since going to the Olimpico Stadium is a chore during match days. Still, I was hoping that this problem would be gone with the Arena.

So, guys, I'd like to ask a bit about the access roads to the Arena.

Since I don't usually drive through that area, I have no idea how it is during its busy hours... is it really that bad?

Plus, I've seen some newspapers saying that it's currently 'confusing' to get to the Arena, which is strange to me, because, basically, all you gotta do is go straight ahead through AJ Renner and then turn left when you reach the roundabout.

Another render with horrible taste, i think almost everyone will complain about it. The mosaic is an old issue, and now this waves all around the chairs... Seems the stadium of São Paulo FC.

its the BR-448 highway, which is the first part of a metropolitan road ring that will divert part of the traffic that jams, daily, the BR-116 road, right now, the only connection between most of Porto Alegre metro area.

Although the stadium will be completed in December 2012, it won´t host World Cup matches. Grêmio´s Arena Project was conceived well before Brazil was chosen to host the 2014 World Cup.

as you can see in some pictures, the 2nd ring of the stadium is not continuous. In the north sector, there are only 3 rings. The first ring has a large section there. THAT section wont have chairs (unless its an official FIFA match)... it will be terraces, and the avalanche is supposed to happen there.

Not that much. Here in Brazil we have an enormous amount of taxes. A Honda Civic here starts on a little bit more than US$30.000. It's really expensive!
