Carrerra March 30th, 2008, 06:06 AM Great stadium!!!!! BTW will this project go ahead whether or not it hosts World cup matches? I worry that Gremio might cancel the project if that gorgeous stadium fails to be a hoting venue for WC 2014.
Carrerra March 30th, 2008, 06:33 AM http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/899/arenainteriorex5.jpg
In this render it seems that the 1st tier on the left doesn't have a symmetry on the opposite - I mean it seems more curved and less steep than the opposite stand. Don't you feel the same?
ronin(POA) March 30th, 2008, 06:35 AM ^^
^^
Gremio is planning this stadium since 2006 and it will be built with or without World Cup in brasil
unlike other projects that came up only after FIFA confirmed the 2014 WC in brasil...
the good thing of the WC for gremio is if they select the arena to be porto alegre's venue, i think this project might have some improvements :D

Good! Is this the final render? I remember someone(maybe you?) said Gremio will announce the final design soooon - this week or next week?

the entire stadium seems too "round" for me... the distance from the seats to the field also seems bigger
Dreamlıneя March 30th, 2008, 07:03 AM I love the environment of the stadium.. How tall will be the tower?
ronin(POA) March 30th, 2008, 07:14 AM Good! Is this the final render? I remember someone(maybe you?) said Gremio will announce the final design soooon - this week or next week?
there was 2 proposals to build gremio new stadium:
TBZ
http://www.athcsm.com.br/gremionovo/imgdin/tbzhumaita.jpg
Cost: R$ 270 milhões
Annual Rent with the Arena: R$ 56 milhões
Profits Split: Grêmio 65% and TBZ 35%
Odebrecht
http://www.athcsm.com.br/gremionovo/imgdin/odb1.jpg
Cost: R$ 294 milhões
Annual Rent with the Arena: R$ 59 milhões
Profits Split: Grêmio 50% and Odebrecht 50%
TBZ proposal won but this is not the final desing yet, some changes still may occur on it.. but it won't be too much different from that
ronin(POA) March 30th, 2008, 07:20 AM I love the environment of the stadium.. How tall will be the tower?
i don't know yet, but it won't be very tall because there are height restrictions in Porto Alegre :(
Carrerra March 30th, 2008, 07:44 AM Does the estimated cost R$ 270M(=around US$ 160M) include other facilities such as shopping mall or convention center? If so don't you think it's too cheap? IMO the 50K stadium alone would cost more than that amount if it was built in Korea. Anyway the project is unbelievably cheap considering that labor cost in Brazil is relatively low...
BTW who owns the land for the project? Gremio or TBZ? or is it provided for free by the government?
ronin(POA) March 31st, 2008, 11:50 PM ^^
R$ 270 million is just the arena
i think that TBZ will buy the land for gremio..

He praised Grêmio’s supporters and said that all opinions are important, because they construct a big project. Football don’t live only of players, but also of the supporters and they are going the be beneficiary with Grêmio’s project, the stadium will have FIFA’s official recognition.
Antônio Monteiro also said that the next step will be a meeting in the town hall that will be on next Wednesday So that everything is within the rules

now it's confirmed that the arena will be built :D
BTW, yesterday there was a news saying that the whole complex will cost around R$ 1 bilion
Carrerra April 2nd, 2008, 12:53 AM What about the transportations around the complex? Is there any metro line or light railway nearby?

Thanks for the picture, Sangnaris. It doesn't look far away from metro station - less than 10 minutes from nearest station by walk, judging from the satellite picture. Besides that, it has another metro stations and good road system around it. I can tell you that Gremio Complex has fantasic transportation accessibilities.

here's a map of how should be the transportation in the next years
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5895/transportes2bb6.jpg
1- Airport
2- Bus Station
7- Olimpico Monumental Stadium (Gremio current Stadium)
9- Beira Rio Stadium (Inter Stadium)
"Portais da Cidade" is an express bus system and "Aeoromovel" is a kind of non pollution monorail

bernardo_j September 18th, 2008, 08:32 PM 7K increase from the original capacity? But how? Installing another tier to original plan? The Arena has 4 tiers.
The capacity with all seats is:
1st Tier: 20.096 Seats
2nd Tier: 7.008 VIP Seats
3rd Tier: 2.760 Seats in 130 Suites
4th Tier: 22.248 Seats
Total: 52.112 Seats
In the 1st Tier, behind a goal, don't have seats in Grêmio's matches, to the "GERAL DO GRÊMIO" (Grêmio's fans) make the "Avalanche (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=l5DnWDTFg0g)" ! ! !
In this sector the capacity without seats is approach 9.000 - 10.000 spectators, and with seats is 4.000 - 5.000 spectators. Then the capacity is approach 57.000 - 58.000 spectators in Grêmio's matches.

Just build the stadium, no need for the extra buildings.
the stadium will be built by a third party company. In exchange, the company will get a big area near downtown (where Grêmio´s current stadium is located), so it will demolish and build some big residentials there.
also, the company will build extra structures around the stadium to profit from them.

Well, I suggest you rethink your words because the stadium will be built, works for the placing of the mast which holds the flag of the Grêmio on the ground of the arena has started and are nearly finished in June or July to work for the stadium itself will begin until the land it already be clean.
And this bla. bla, bla all that you say is because of all the bureaucracy that exists in this country.
The mast will be 42 meters tall and the flag will be 94.7 meters square, 8.10 X 11.70.

Former club and hopefully future club ronaldinho well.
At least that's what I twist, our fans have the opnion very divided about it, but I'm on the side who wants him back and he already said he wanted to return one day.
AcesHigh September 24th, 2010, 05:11 AM Yes, it's a very nice project, ex-Ronaldinho's club deserves such a stadium!
also Anderson, Lucas and Carlos Eduardo.
with Mano Menezes as the new brazilian coach (Mano Menezes was Grêmio coach from 2005 to 2007) and the fact he coached these 3 players while in Grêmio, there is a big probability those 3 will be Seleção players till 2014.
Mano, Anderson and Lucas were part of the Grêmio team that played the most dramatic match in the club´s history.
after Grêmio fell to 2nd division in 2004 due to financial problems caused by some REALLY bad decisions of previous administrations, in 2005, the team was in a really bad situation, financially, in the 2nd division. The club needed to come back to first division to increase its recipes.
The 2nd division that year was decided in play-offs.
In the last game, played at Recife (Pernambuco state) against Náutico, in the Aflitos stadiums, Grêmio would be champion of the 2nd division if it won. It would be promoted if it tied. And would remain in 2nd division if it lost.
Then the referee started helping Náutico. A penalty against Grêmio in the first half, luckily went wide. The really bad part came in the 2nd half. The referee red carded a game player unfairly... and soon after, awarded a SECOND penalty against Grêmio, very unfair. The ball bounced in a GRêmio player´s arm that was COMPLETELY close to his body! And it was outside the box!
Knowing of the injustice, Grêmio players lost their head. One of them chested the ref and was red carded. Then the players went to argue with the ref and another was red carded. The cops came in and beat Grêmio players down.
After a while, the ref was taking the ball to the penalty spot and a Grêmio player punched the ball out of the ref´s hand :lol:
Another red card.
Grêmio was 4 players down. If one more player was red carded, the match would be suspended and Grêmio would lose automatically.
7-11 players.
Another player was yellow carded for digging a hole, with his foot at the penalty spot
After some 15 minutes, the match resumed... Nautico shot the penalty and the goalkeeper defended!! Nautico players and fans could not believe!
But how to hold the result when you are 4 men down?
ANDERSON (now in Manchester United) took the ball at our defense field and advanced towards Nautico´s goal. He was fouled and a Nautico player got the 2nd yellow. Before Nautico recomposed, Anderson dribbled several Nautico players and scored a goal for Grêmio!!!!!
A MIRACLE! Anderson became a hero. And so did the goalkeeper Galatto, who defended the 2nd penalty.
The match became known as BATALHA DOS AFLITOS (Battle of the Aflicts) and became a Grêmio DVD
INCREDIBLE!
you dont need to understand portuguese, just watch the images at this video

OBS: Quote do Sagnaris do Thread do Brasil!
Luka Loopy October 1st, 2010, 07:25 PM As a Spurs fan my Brazilian team is probably Intenacional (boo hiss etc) as they have a club partnership with Spurs, but I have to say I love the proposed stadium.
The standing area behind the goal looks great, subtley articulated from the rest of the bowl, but well intergrated with the rest of the arena (altot better than the proposed kop end at the new Spurs ground).
The exterior looks great, very simple athough not sure about the roof, surely there could have been a cleaner solution?
All in all very good. Im looking forward to seeing this one develop.
Arthurlp10 October 2nd, 2010, 01:46 AM ^^
Indeed, at what stage the project goes from the new stadium spurs?
AcesHigh October 2nd, 2010, 07:44 AM gee, that sounded like Yoda
AcesHigh October 13th, 2010, 10:27 PM FIFA and the Local Organizing Comitee just had a meeting with directors of Internacional (Grêmio´s archrival in Porto Alegre).
They didnt accept the financial garantees from Internacional and want revisions in the project, which would raise the final costs from $50 to $100 million.
With that, the 2014 World Cup gets nearer and nearer to be realized in the brand new and modern Grêmio Arena.

AcesHigh October 28th, 2010, 07:42 AM just to inform people... in the first seconds of the video above, what you see is the construction of a bridge that will connect a new road to the road where my car was travelling. The bridge will end exactly on the side of the Grêmio Arena. Thus, the Arena is right in the crossing of the most important roads in the state.
then, you see several piles. There will be a total of 2500 piles to support the stadium. The construction company is still hiring people (they plan to have over 2000 workers in a few months) and in a few weeks, 3 more pile drivers machines should arrive to increase the number of piles placed per day.
João Paulo October 29th, 2010, 03:33 PM This stadium is going to be great. Can´t wait to see it ready. Congratulations Grêmio.

GRÊMIO
Arthurlp10 November 13th, 2010, 04:11 AM "PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS OF SURVEY WORKS PROJECTS OF ARENA GRÊMIO.
According to the OAS, the schedule is better than expected.
.
The president of Guild Enterprises, Adalberto Preis, and counselors Krebs and Evan Saul Berdichevski visited early on Friday (12), the construction site of Arena's Guild. "We are pleased and even excited about the progress of works, schedule more than anticipated. Meanwhile, the visibility is small, because the stakes are hidden in the ground. Briefly, with concrete foundations, we will have much greater visibility to the public," evaluates Preis.
With a week to complete two months of work, the building now accounts for more than 200 piles driven and will soon be surpassed the mark of 5km long. The goal is to reach up to 54,000 meters. According to the OAS, the schedule is better than expected. Within about 45 days, will be running the patch of pre-cast, allowing the start of concrete foundations.
In this period, the cafeteria will also be constructed and the dressing rooms, with capacity for about a thousand people. The OAS also estimates that the construction of temporary substation, which will be used for energy supply of the work is completed in 20 days. In time, more than 70 people have been hired.

In 30 days, the bed will be ready for pre-cast concrete and start the foundation blocks. Gain greater visibility
@ Adalbertopreis Adalberto Preis
Soon we will have around 2000 workers working. There is no news of any of the stages referred to as advanced building.
Acoustic November 20th, 2010, 12:19 AM The capacity will actually be 57.000, since for Gremio matches there will be no seats on the stands behind one of the goals. This was asked by the fans themselves and it's to allow the most enthusiastic fans to move around more freely.
This will be a great stadium for us, Gremio fans, but yes, the exterior could have been better designed in my opinion. At the end of the day though, what really matters is that this Arena will be much better than the current stadium we have.

AcesHigh December 2nd, 2010, 05:50 PM ME GUSTA MUCHO EL NUEVO ESTADIO DE GREMIO. COMO VA GREMIO EN EL TORNEO ACTUAL? SALUDOS SIEMPRE SEGIDOR DE GREMIO
we had a bad coach in the first semester. Until about half the season, Grêmio was in the relegation zone. So we sacked the coach and hired Renato Portaluppi, the biggest idol at Grêmio (striker, made the two goals against SV Hamburg when we won the Intercontinental Cup in 1983).
Renato then took Gremio from relegation zone to the 4th place in the league in half a season. It was the best team in the league in the second half of the season... if we had Renato as coach since the start, we would be champions this year.
We are disputing the 4th place with Botafogo. This sunday, is the last match of the season. And we play against Botafogo in our stadium. We are two points ahead, so a draw will keep us in 4th place.
The importance of 4th place is that we go to the Libertadores... ASSUMING that Independiente can win over Goias in the Sudamericana final.
If Goias wins the Sudamericana, the last brazilian spot in Libertadores goes to Goias.

obviously, such a project is from Trensurb, not Grêmio. Grêmio cannot just build a public transport system passing over public streets, etc.

Yea I know, but, for example, the new bridges to the highway of progress, are presents in the pictures released. Besides, I did not find any image about this project in trensurb homepage. Because this I asked, this is a real project or something that they want to do in the future, this will be done for 2012?
AcesHigh January 20th, 2011, 12:39 PM oh, in this sense, its something they want to be done in the future. If the World Cup moves to the Arena, they will probably make the project as soon as that happens, since they are already making the aerocar connecting the airport to the trensurb station.

Eduardo, I got some info about the Aeromovel project, from the Gremio Arena Orkut community. Its in portuguese, so I will post in the Arena thread at the PROJETOS section of the Brazil forum.

@Everyone looking this thread
The aerial photos were deleted by the person who posted them. I still dont know the reason (he didnt explain, it seems he was asked to remove them). Until we know the real reason for the deletion, I have SOME (not all) of the aerial photos that were posted here before, hosted at Imageshack and posted at the Grêmio Arena thread in the brazilian forums. You can check them by clicking the link above.
Arthurlp10 February 5th, 2011, 07:13 AM Work Grêmio Arena has its first pillar
Construction takes place from the northern sector, where the bleachers will be
The first pillar of the 590 that will be erected on the ground has faded since the arena is built. On Friday, the new directors of Guild Enterprises made the first official visit on the site, neighborhood Humaitá, and could check the progress.
On occasion, the OAS and Plarq Planning and Architecture made a detailed presentation of the project and gave the monthly report of activities. In five months, are already 192 thousand square meters of built area, with 14,841 meters of concrete piles driven into and 1,320 meters of metal stakes.
Also according to the builder, the building process starts from the northern sector (where the grandstand will be). Further, the sectors northeast, east, southeast, south, southwest, northwest and west have the whole structure built by December 2012, according to estimates.
The president of Guild Enterprises, Eduardo Antonini, announced that from now on, every Tuesday will be marked by meetings of the executive board of the Guild with the OAS.
- This means an increase in work rate for the second half of the year be ready business plan of the Arena - informed.

Arthurlp10 February 5th, 2011, 11:54 PM Information of the President of Grêmio Enterprises
Antonini gave an interview on Radio Gaucha just now, following transcription of the staff of the community who heard Grêmio Arena:
the stadium (with space for general) has a capacity of 58 thousand people, those 60 000 who wants to increase the guild is only for games of the guild, or over 2 000 places in general.
the capacity of the arena with Caeiras everywhere will be 53 000 people (and will not change the design).
-
events center will be bigger and better than the south. and that (according to Antonini) can cause many companies to buy boxes of the arena.
-
Capacity for concerts of up to 75 000 people
-
theother behind the goalie, you can download a curtain where the stadium is transformed into an amphitheater for about 10 000 people
-
15 to 20 days to start concreting ........ may note that the stakes are around the country .... the vacant space between the pillars is the lawn
-
that part where the fans enter the stadium ... the common space (forgot the name now) will have only three floors of shops and bars and grills that will have two at once to the field and onto the freeway
-
Two steakhouses in the Arena;
-
training center will be in front of the arena across the freeway ... 3 fields, space for the press ...... Stephen Fry: Space is only for the professional, the base is in South Eldorado
-
but ct is the guild building, nothing to do with the oas
-
the guild will not have concentration .... the guild finds it cheaper to pay at the hotel daily doias days a week than to keep a hotel infrastructure only for the players to use twice a week
-
Memorial, membership, administrative part, Gremiomania Store, these spaces will be delivered by OAS empty, ie that the Guild will pay for construction, flooring, decoration, etc..
-
the acoustics inside the arena will be 5 times larger than the olympic, thanks to proximity to the pitch and the stadium roof.
-
price of 1 and 4 ring will be the same ticket price at olimpico (do not say if the same price from the bleachers or chairs)
-
general will epac of 10 000 places ... no chance to grow.
-
11 meters distance from the lateral line and bottom-line for a row of chairs.
in principle will not only pit ....... gap if there is a national policy and all the stadiums have not ditch ...... just the fear of losing home field guild to be pitch invasion
-
2 or 3000 parking spaces at the base of the arena''

This is an issue longer.
In Porto Alegre, there are two big clubs Grêmio and Internacional.
When the host cities and their stadiums were chosen arena Grêmio was still just a project and the project was the reform of international a stadium that already existed.
However, in recent months we have seen was that the International had no financial guarantees necessary for his project and is only now going after partnerships to make their retirement.
So there are still deadlocked over what will be the stage at the World Cup, but for now is still the official of the International.
In the end this is a much more political than technical, because technically this arena Grêmio will have all the most modern stadium can have.
This is the actualy stadium for Grêmio:

After about 15 days of stalemate, the workers working on the front of the Arena Grêmio, Humaita in the neighborhood, returned to give further service to the building, according to a spokesperson for the venture, is ahead. In a statement released recently, it was reported that 12% of the work was completed in February.
It is estimated that from April it will be possible to observe the structure of the stadium. At the height of the work, it is expected that about 2 000 workers are working. The OAS - a company that manages the building - and the Grêmio hope to inaugurate the new home gremista in December 2012.
On Thursday, the president of the Grêmio, Paulo Odone, the president of Grêmio Enterprises, Eduardo Antonini, together with the architects responsible for designing the arena, make a presentation to a group of wheelchair Canoense the Association of Physically Handicapped (ACADEF) to talk about areas designed for people with special needs in the stadium.

Porto Alegre will have 2 private stadiums with conditions to host World Cup games.
But Porto Alegre is not even Brazil´s main city, so no way would FIFA let Porto Alegre have two stadiums hosting matches. (and either way, we would have two stadiums, but the airport and hotel infrastructure of the city wouldnt be adequate to all the tourists that the city would get with two stadiums hosting matches).
Now... why did FIFA and the CBF chose Inter´s stadium instead of Grêmio??
Well, I really dont know. But when the cities were choosing their stadiums to present to the FIFA comitee, Grêmio´s stadium was still a project (since its a brand new stadium, the old stadium will be demolished).
Inter´s stadium on the other hand would be used... although it needs MASSIVE restauration and adaptation, including demolishing all the lower stands/terraces/tiers (??) and building an all new roof to protect all the crowd from the weather.
So, although both stadiums for the World Cup were "projects", Inter´s project would be above, a reform, of an existing stadium, while Grêmio´s project would be built from scratch.
Grêmio´s project was not even considered :|
But from the beginning, Grêmio made a partnership with a giant construction company... who is building the stadium with its own finances and in exchange will get a % of the revenue and also the area of the old stadium to build a residential complex and areas surrounding the new stadium where it will build a mall, an hotel and a conventions center. (the whole new area was bought with money of the construction company too).
Inter on the other hand said they would renovate their 70´s stadium by selling the area of their previous stadium (which they dont use since the 60s) and by selling the rights to 100 corporate suites and skyboxes (all would still be constructed) for 1 million each, for a 10 years period leasing.
Well... they were able to sell the area of the old stadium for R$30 million only (less than they wanted) and only sold 10 of the R$1 million corporate suites. (another 10 were exchanges).
Also, their budget skyrocketed... they sold their project to FIFA saying it would cost R$150 million... but the budget is already close to R$300 million...
And football clubs cant get bank leasings in Brazil. They are non profitable social clubs, and have debts, etc. No bank would lease money to a football club, because there is no garantee of return. Mortgaging the stadium isnt worth to a bank too because TO WHOM would they sell the stadium if the club didnt pay them??
A construction company DOES have garantees to a bank, so a bank does lease money for them. Grêmio´s partner has the banking garantees to build the stadium.
Inter does not have any. So FIFA is pressing Inter since last year for financial garantees. Inter was lying all the time for them, saying they had the garantees. But they dont and FIFA knows that.
The new Inter directorship was elected last year, and they said Inter didnt have the money to finish their project. And ONLY NOW they are going after a partnership with a construction company. But it will be at least 60 days until they sign a deal with anyone.
FIFA is extending their deadlines to Inter... I dont know how FIFA does accept that... first, it was october last year... then FIFA extended to december... then to march 2011... now Inter is asking for more time...
All the while, Grêmio´s brand new stadium is being built, smoothly. FIFA will be dumb if it doesnt choose a brand new stadium instead of Inter´s renovation.
BUT... its FIFA you know. Its much more political than anything.

Carrerra April 30th, 2011, 01:04 PM How about the location as a football stadium? Is it located on downtown or suburbs of the city? Will people have any troubles coming to stadium in terms of accessibility, especially does it have any metro stations or tram stops nearby which can carry a lot of people at one time?
Arthurlp10 April 30th, 2011, 05:24 PM ^^
The location of the stadium is at the north end of town.
It could not be in a better place.
All major roads in the city pass through it.
There are 4 entrances to the city less than 2km from the arena, one of which can be seen being built right next to the stadium.
Are two avenues that bring people from downtown until to the arena.
The airport is located 3.2 km from the stadium.
There is the possibility of building a light rail line from the airport to the stadium.
These are the main factors that make the location of the stadium be excellent.
This image represents well what I mean.

the WORST location to build a stadium in Porto Alegre would be in downtown. Plus, Porto Alegre metro has a pop of 4 million people, while Porto Alegre alone is 1.3 million people.
ALL the Porto Alegre metro area is north of Porto Alegre. And is connected to Porto Alegre exactly by the roads that pass by the side of the new stadium.

Will the Geral stand be strenghtened to allow people to do the avalanche as it was previously announced? Just asking and hoping they didn't change their minds on that one, cause that's one hell of a Gremio identity feature.

Yes!
The avalanche will exist!
The sectors in the area of the Geral does not have chairs in day of the match of Grêmio, thus allowing the avalanche.
Will used a system of removable seats, allowing in FIFA games have chairs in this sector.

too bad it didnt advance much during the brazilian winter months... it rained (and sometimes a lot) the entire winter here.
all the while stadiums in the rest of Brazil advanced a lot because in most brazilian states, winter is the dry season (they have tropical climate)
in the south however, the climate is not tropical, and the rains are sparsed throught the year, it can rain more sometimes in winter, sometimes in summer, sometimes in spring, sometimes in autumn.
it will certainly rain less here than in other states in the summer, so the Arena will get more advanced than the other stadiums from now on...

Sangnaris September 1st, 2011, 02:56 AM From 52,398 to 60,700?
The stadium will have 4,000 seats removable.
With all the seating capacity will be 56,000 seated and 4,000 without the removable seats will be 52,000 seated and 8,000 standing, making spectacle in the stands.
My English is bad, sorry ...
AcesHigh September 1st, 2011, 07:57 AM From 52,398 to 60,700?
no. The other forumer commited a mistake.
the stadium was previously setup to have 52,3 thousand seats, or 58 thousand PLACES in total, removing a few thousand seats from the terraces behind one goal.
Now, the stadium, when in an all seater configuration, will have 56 thousand seats. Or in the configuration with terraces, it will have 60 thousand places.
the terraces are only behind ONE goal, and just in the lower ring.
you can see it in this image... that part all in white, with the club´s shield painted on it.

politics. Most of these fans are against the current administration and will criticize anything. They say the original viability study made by AAA set the stadium to have 55 thousand people.
Well, ok, the increase is of only 1 thousand (56 thousand) in SEATS!!! Thats almost nothing. The other 4000 will be standing up on terraces, hardly a difference in costs.
furthemore, several of these new seats will be used for the CURRENT club associates who have rights to chairs without paying each game. Grêmio would have to pay its partner, AG, the full sum of their tickets! Over the period of partnership, that would amount to R$50 million. 2000 of these new seats will belong ONLY to Grêmio, thus, the old associates who had rights to seats will be put there, and Grêmio wont have to pay to AG. Since there is a cost of about R$20 million for the new seats, it will represent savings on the order of $30 million for Grêmio over the 20 years partnership duration! (most other 60 thousand Grêmio associates have to pay a monthly fee MORE half the ticket price)

oh, other problem that made some fans complain about the capacity increase, and I forgot here: they are simply UNINFORMED.
let me explain
this week it was voted an additive to the original contract, elevating the total value of the BNDES financing in 65 million.
the UNINFORMED fans, only heard about ONE of the several issues that increased the value: the capacity upgrade.
Thus they were complaining that it was ridiculous to spend 65 million to increase the capacity. Well, if all those 65 million was used for that, I would agree with them.
But NO.
Here are the other items that are included with this 65 million additive:
- LEEDS certification. $3 million/year in savings from reusing rain water, etc, also better deals in Naming Rights negotiations because the stadium has the certificate
- a second electricity substation, this one of 69kva (the 13 kva one was already included in the original contract). With the new station, not only the Arena will be basically "fireproof" against blackouts, as it will also be able to buy energy from the grid with greater discounts, resulting in great economy
- OAS will spend 5 million helping to build the new Gremio CT
- OAS will spend another 5 million in furniture of the Grêmio administrative areas of the new stadium. Under the old agreement, OAS would deliver those areas "naked", and Grêmio would spend its own money to furniture it all.
as you see, its a great deal.

AcesHigh September 22nd, 2011, 08:08 PM the other half of the stadium is going up (lots of new columns being raised in the north and west sectors)
http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/8755/143cksl.jpg
construction slowed down in the winter, because it was one of the rainiest winter in decades at Rio Grande do Sul state... but its still on track.
the stadium is huge because it has over 30 thousand sq meters for commercial areas (as much as many malls/shopping centres), besides all the football related stuff.

Gutovsky September 23rd, 2011, 04:03 AM Wow... I went to Porto Alegre some weeks ago and I can clearly see progress... I think this will be a serious candidate to take the place of Beira-Rio in the Cup... If not, Porto Alegre will have two amazing stadiums!

I think progress in the summer (which traditionally is dryer in Porto Alegre, although Rio Grande do Sul has no "dry and wet" season) will be much faster and smoother.
according to BBC Weather, the rainiest month is september, with average of 132 mm, and the dryest is november, with 79mm.
the difference is not that big, as you can see. This september has been kinda dry so far btw, but we had much more rain than usual in july and august.
João Paulo September 25th, 2011, 07:32 PM I said it already and I will repeat, this will certainly be the best stadium in Brazil. Can´t wait to see it ready!!!

haha, but this stadium, which is following UEFA Elite standart, will not be in the World Cup :ohno:
Porto Alegre has chosen another stadium (from Grêmio´s archrival).
They were reforming their stadium, but it has stopped and they are facing major problems. Because of that, Porto Alegre was excluded from the Confeds Cup today :ohno:
local politicians say FIFA doesnt accept a change of stadium after it was chosen initially. Very sad indeed that such a good stadium will not be used in the 2014 Cup.

Translate:
"The ring road and the overpass in the vicinity are being made by the consortium or the state?"
The ring road is a work of the state, it is part of a major new highway being built!
And the ring road is being built by the same business construction of the arena!

O anel viário é uma obra do estado, ele faz parte de uma nova e grande rodovia que está sendo construída!
E o anel viário está sendo construído pela mesma construtora da arena!
