i have few Ideas:

1. scale the Towers back to (left one 62-72 Floors, middle 49-59
Floors & right 36-46 Floors)

2. built all three Towers a little bit thinner &
3. scale the Podium back as low as possible (up to 5 Floors) &
4. let a few restaurants & shops (floors 0-5) in the Marina Walk-faced 'podium recover &
5. set the complete Podium back from the "Marina-Walk", look to the "Marina-Walk-Design"
of the Al-Mass, Fairaaz, Al-Murjan & the Mesk-Towers &
6. finally, use a Sky-coloured >blue-black< Cladding for the three Towers.

Further Ideas: :shocked::shocked::shocked:

7. built a 20-40 Floor counting "Marina-Sky-Car-Park-Tower" on these two
Plot´s between the Marina-Torch-Tower & Marina-Heights-Tower,
8. connect them with Skybridges at Floor 8, Floor 16, and Floor 24
with the Marina-Sky-Towers (this Idea reduces the Need for a too big
Podium at Marina-Sky Towers).

Then it was a real "Marina-Sky-Tower" with a supporting Parking-Structure in background............... :lovethem:

I don't think you need a carpark tower, the reduced podium would be enough with smaller towers. Basically, if something similar to marina phase 1 ends up there then that would be the best option.

The chairman of Emaar said, that the merger should be finalized within one month and then new projects will be launched. Maybe one will be here.

I think it would be good to plant some palms on all empty plots in Downtown and Marina to finally have some areas without construction. This might make Dubai attractive for more people from Europe who don't necessarily have to come for work...

A park with a lot of greenery and/or small bats with restaurants and small shops would be perfect.

But it's just my opinion

If no building for at least 5 years does that mean it will just remain an ugly sandpit and not be landscaped.

They need a Masjid (Mosque) in the area as there isn't one near by not bad place to have it.

This area is too far from the metro stop and also not suitable for prayers from JLT and the West Marina.

The middle part of the Marina near the Mall is more suited for a mosque.:)

I have spoken with a number of people at East & West properties over the last few days and they have confirmed to me that this project is CANCELLED.

Their website has got a section for future developments which include Seascape Tower and Seagull Tower. These developments are also cancelled. Not ON HOLD but CANCELLED.

I have spoken to a financial director of E&W and financing is the issue. No financing can be obtained for building in Dubai at the moment only Abu Dhabi.

I raised the issue of the land and if it was owned by the developer and the answer was “no we do not own the land”. The so called ‘project launch’ at cityscape AD in 2008 that led to this threads creation, was only a concept design which was kicked out of town by the Dubai Municipality as it was “not a suitable development”.

Until Dubai emerges from the black hole it has literally dug for itself, then this plot will remain a sand pit.

In my view that’s at least 5 years.

No need to do any work for a car park. What they did is break the layer of concrete, which was on the middle of the plot. Then they dug 3 wholes and burried the concrete pieces in there and covered it with sand again. What could be the purpose of that?

This has nothing to do with Ramadan, the plot has been a parking for over 1 year now and people were just parking on the sand, it was paid parking of course. Now it seems that they are laying asphalt, at least they are already flattening the plot. Long term plan is extension of Marina Arcade according to the workers

Parking plot is better than the sand shit. At least my visits to Spinney will not be that expensive (without getting fined by the almighty police...)

Its a shame they are not cleaver enough to work that one out in Dubai/EMAAR......

They could have taken advantage of the Eid break and given a car park to boost the businesses...but nope....

no, i am excited because margaretzimmerman wrote that they have already erected a fencing. so maybe they'll start with the preparation works soon...? at least it's not impossible ;)

They've sprayed half of the plot with water today, and now have brought a second tractor and a roller. One of the tractors just started to rake the surface perfectly flat. Could this be preparation for tarmac? A temporary parking ground to make money before there's new use for the plot? Space for a street market? A park?!

I'll keep you posted.

Eden blue site is being filled, as was The Lighthouse and other abandoned plots are being tidied up, some fenced off to stop dumping etc. Maybe we will see the tram restarted or a new contractor appointed.

Just went on site. It is PARKING LOT. RTA leased it back for 5 years. The entrance will be in front of MHT and the blue fencing will come out in time....the other half of the site will be as it was few years ago....

For now a parking lot is great as it will boost business in the Marina but I fear the traffic in and out of that area....as the traffic lights only allow 5 cars out each time!

In this area there is a good number of skyscrapers.. An area for shop, park or a coffe is better respect an other tower!
