View Full Version : #NEVER BUILT: MARINA SKY TOWERS, 2 x 60F Mixed Use Blizzy October 29th, 2009, 06:14 PM Just move Nakheel Tower here and it will shut everyone up. zander0501 October 30th, 2009, 09:36 PM No updates, no responses, I am a bit disappointed. :poke: Has anyone an opinion on the proposal from my Post 998??? ^^^^^^^^ zander0501 October 30th, 2009, 09:40 PM Just move Nakheel Tower here and it will shut everyone up. :wtf::omg::cheer::applause::applause::applause: malec October 30th, 2009, 09:52 PM This 3-Tower-Design is TOP***, BUT: :bash::bash::bash::bash::bash::bash: i have few Ideas: 1. scale the Towers back to (left one 62-72 Floors, middle 49-59 Floors & right 36-46 Floors) :tiasd: 2. built all three Towers a little bit thinner & 3. scale the Podium back as low as possible (up to 5 Floors) & 4. let a few restaurants & shops (floors 0-5) in the Marina Walk-faced 'podium recover & 5. set the complete Podium back from the "Marina-Walk", look to the "Marina-Walk-Design" of the Al-Mass, Fairaaz, Al-Murjan & the Mesk-Towers & 6. finally, use a Sky-coloured >blue-black< Cladding for the three Towers. Further Ideas: :shocked::shocked: 7. built a 20-40 Floor counting "Marina-Sky-Car-Park-Tower" on these two Plot´s between the Marina-Torch-Tower & Marina-Heights-Tower, 8. connect them with Skybridges at Floor 8, Floor 16, and Floor 24 with the Marina-Sky-Towers (this Idea reduces the Need for a too big Podium at Marina-Sky Towers). Then it was a real "Marina-Sky-Tower" with a supporting Parking-Structure in background............... :lovethem: What are the SkyScraperCity-Crowd thinks to my Ideas??? :nocrook::nocrook::nocrook::nocrook: ************************************************ NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, to the white very-ugly cut-off Twins........:fiddle: I don't think you need a carpark tower, the reduced podium would be enough with smaller towers. Basically, if something similar to marina phase 1 ends up there then that would be the best option. zander0501 October 31st, 2009, 04:20 AM thanks malec Dubai_Steve November 26th, 2009, 07:46 PM Any news? Who owns this land now? High Times November 26th, 2009, 08:02 PM Emaar's creditors. It will probably be on E-bay soon jeffers November 26th, 2009, 08:13 PM Emaar's creditors. It will probably be on E-bay soon As an auction or a Buy it Now offer ?? might watch that one !! Barracuda November 26th, 2009, 09:57 PM The chairman of Emaar said, that the merger should be finalized within one month and then new projects will be launched. Maybe one will be here. Dubai_Steve November 26th, 2009, 10:06 PM Alabbar said the projects planned after the merger would be suitable for the market. "We have finished the design of some projects. Once the merger is concluded they would be launched." Interesting. High Times November 26th, 2009, 10:08 PM The chairman of Emaar will be working in dunkin doughnuts by Christmas malec November 26th, 2009, 11:53 PM Maybe they should finish standpoint residences, etc, before launching anything? Barracuda November 27th, 2009, 07:50 AM Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of the Dubai-based developer, Emaar Properties has said he expects 'technical talks' for the planned merger with state-owned developers Dubai Properties, Sama Dubai, and leisure developer Tatweer, to be concluded within a month, Reuters has reported. The new firm will announce new projects after the merger, he said. 'We have finished the design of some projects. Once the merger is concluded they would be launched.' http://www.ameinfo.com/216845.html I think it would be good to plant some palms on all empty plots in Downtown and Marina to finally have some areas without construction. This might make Dubai attractive for more people from Europe who don't necessarily have to come for work... Dubai_Steve January 5th, 2010, 08:11 PM So does Sh. Khalifa now own this plot? High Times January 5th, 2010, 08:18 PM "Khalifa's Kebabs, we know how to pack em" kevin_1980in January 8th, 2010, 05:07 PM :D Imre February 23rd, 2010, 02:01 PM 23/February/2010 Still nothing here http://i50.tinypic.com/jsp0fq.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/5wh8jp.jpg Flo Flo February 23rd, 2010, 03:04 PM A park with a lot of greenery and/or small bats with restaurants and small shops would be perfect. But it's just my opinion DxbPC February 23rd, 2010, 06:01 PM I have it on very good authority that there will be no building on this site for at least 5 yrs... Dubai_Steve February 23rd, 2010, 07:23 PM ^^ Any more info than that? How do you know? If no building for at least 5 years does that mean it will just remain an ugly sandpit and not be landscaped. arfie February 25th, 2010, 04:47 PM They need a Masjid (Mosque) in the area as there isn't one near by not bad place to have it. jeetha February 25th, 2010, 05:06 PM This area is too far from the metro stop and also not suitable for prayers from JLT and the West Marina. The middle part of the Marina near the Mall is more suited for a mosque.:) High Times February 25th, 2010, 05:08 PM ^^ I agree but theres more chance of a 'spearmint rhinos' opening up here. AltinD February 26th, 2010, 11:25 AM He (Steve) could have done worse: There would have been a kid building the castle(s) and a old man assisting him ... The middle part of the Marina near the Mall is more suited for a mosque.:) Yes, how about at the West Avenue plot? High Times March 10th, 2010, 01:19 PM I have spoken with a number of people at East & West properties over the last few days and they have confirmed to me that this project is CANCELLED. Their website has got a section for future developments which include Seascape Tower and Seagull Tower. These developments are also cancelled. Not ON HOLD but CANCELLED. http://i41.tinypic.com/30259pu.jpg http://www.eastandwest.ae/index.html I have spoken to a financial director of E&W and financing is the issue. No financing can be obtained for building in Dubai at the moment only Abu Dhabi. I raised the issue of the land and if it was owned by the developer and the answer was “no we do not own the land”. The so called ‘project launch’ at cityscape AD in 2008 that led to this threads creation, was only a concept design which was kicked out of town by the Dubai Municipality as it was “not a suitable development”. Until Dubai emerges from the black hole it has literally dug for itself, then this plot will remain a sand pit. In my view that’s at least 5 years. Dubai_Steve March 10th, 2010, 01:38 PM Interesting news. Thanks for that. Can we have some landscaping then please? http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/1175/dscf5653.jpg True Blue March 10th, 2010, 03:35 PM Get in line! UAE_AD May 6th, 2010, 09:31 AM I wish they'd make a park here! Barracuda August 9th, 2010, 11:09 AM They are doing some work on the plot. Not sure what, but doesn't seem to be for a building. Anyone knows? Josau August 9th, 2010, 11:16 AM I hope it is landscaping. Dubai_Steve August 9th, 2010, 02:57 PM Probably just a temporary car park for Ramadan, same as last year. Barracuda August 10th, 2010, 10:36 AM No need to do any work for a car park. What they did is break the layer of concrete, which was on the middle of the plot. Then they dug 3 wholes and burried the concrete pieces in there and covered it with sand again. What could be the purpose of that? Barracuda August 10th, 2010, 08:15 PM Spoke to the workers today and they said it's going to be a parking lot Dubai_Steve August 10th, 2010, 09:21 PM Permanent or just for Ramadan? TMZ August 10th, 2010, 11:38 PM lets lock this thread for 1 year and than come back next year this time and open it up and post some more ramadan parking pictures. Barracuda August 11th, 2010, 11:05 AM This has nothing to do with Ramadan, the plot has been a parking for over 1 year now and people were just parking on the sand, it was paid parking of course. Now it seems that they are laying asphalt, at least they are already flattening the plot. Long term plan is extension of Marina Arcade according to the workers dirtyharry1 August 11th, 2010, 11:14 AM Parking plot is better than the sand shit. At least my visits to Spinney will not be that expensive (without getting fined by the almighty police...) Josau August 11th, 2010, 11:19 AM After a prime location car park facing the sea, now a prime location car park facing the marina. Yes, Dubai loves its cars, they deserve a view, too. They only got about 10 - 20 cars maximum in the weekend. Marina walk was very busy but not sure where all of these people parked :dunno: sydneyjay September 29th, 2010, 01:59 AM Its a shame they are not cleaver enough to work that one out in Dubai/EMAAR...... Sensible solution, a little landscaping and a huge car park to bring the place alive. Stupid solution, leave it as it is.... :bash: It cost me AED 50 to park there for a couple of hours :bash: I was invited to the Lebanese restaurant below Marina height and there was no parking in the evening any where near. Believe this is going to be a shopping extension to marina arcade now. margaretzimmerman November 18th, 2010, 07:56 AM Something is going on....a small fence has been built and a tractor or whatever that big thing is ....combing and cleaning the site..... They could have taken advantage of the Eid break and given a car park to boost the businesses...but nope.... Now what is starting there??/ PrincessTower November 18th, 2010, 05:07 PM I'm looking right at it every day. No activity. There is a tractor, but only sitting there / parking at the moment. Dubai Skyscraper November 19th, 2010, 12:00 AM ^^ wow, i am a bit excited now :D AltinD November 19th, 2010, 12:03 AM ^^ You're excited at the sight of a parked tractor? :D Blizzy November 19th, 2010, 12:15 AM ^^ Hey, it's a nice tractor! dsoto2 November 19th, 2010, 09:54 AM astonishing buildings !! hope to have any of them in Lima, buuuuuhhh Dubai Skyscraper November 19th, 2010, 06:37 PM ^^ You're excited at the sight of a parked tractor? :D no, i am excited because margaretzimmerman wrote that they have already erected a fencing. so maybe they'll start with the preparation works soon...? at least it's not impossible ;) PrincessTower November 22nd, 2010, 06:49 PM They've sprayed half of the plot with water today, and now have brought a second tractor and a roller. One of the tractors just started to rake the surface perfectly flat. Could this be preparation for tarmac? A temporary parking ground to make money before there's new use for the plot? Space for a street market? A park?! I'll keep you posted. Dubai_Steve November 22nd, 2010, 07:19 PM Could be for tarmac and hopefully a little bit of landscaping here and there around the edges. Dubai_Steve November 22nd, 2010, 07:59 PM Anything better than the sand and be good to get that fence down :) True Blue November 22nd, 2010, 08:47 PM Seems there is a push on by Emaar to tidy up the marina. There is too many loose ends and untidy abandoned sites dotted around the area. Eden blue site is being filled, as was The Lighthouse and other abandoned plots are being tidied up, some fenced off to stop dumping etc. Maybe we will see the tram restarted or a new contractor appointed. It's about time the marina stopped looking like a permanent building site, some of us have had to put up with it for at least 3 years now. Note that all the Emaar projects are complete now so expect a change in attitude! CIPUS November 22nd, 2010, 09:34 PM Seems there is a push on by Emaar to tidy up the marina. A bit confused about your comment that the other half of the site will be as it was few years ago. What does this mean exactly - landscaping? GTR11 November 24th, 2010, 09:44 PM move to never built margaretzimmerman November 25th, 2010, 10:52 AM Means that it was always a vacant block....so it will stay like that for now....no landscaping....no money. I had a pic but have no idea how to put it on....I have no URL?? For now a parking lot is great as it will boost business in the Marina but I fear the traffic in and out of that area....as the traffic lights only allow 5 cars out each time! The MST development has clearly been mothballed until the market returns, so can we move it or rename it or whatever? Dubai_Steve December 21st, 2010, 07:33 PM How is the car park getting on? Any new photos? AltinD December 27th, 2010, 12:37 PM ^^ I was in the area last week, and I saw a road sign directing to "The Overflow Car Park", so my guess would be that is open already.
