View Full Version : PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Milan Luka April 4th, 2008, 10:47 AM I was trolling skyscrapercity and on the UK Skybar discovered a 'your personal announcement (good and bad)' thread. I thought it would be a good idea to add a version to our Kiwiscrapers. We all seem to be a very friendly bunch here in our little online community and my desire is that this should hopefully help us get to know each other even better.
Also a means to rejoice in each others triumphs and commiserate and also to give support when it's needed.
I feel as though I should have a major announcement to make being the first post in this thread however I dont. I will say I've been working quite alot lately and tomorrow is my first day off in 2 weeks. To 'celebrate' this day off (back to work on Sunday) I'll be taking it very easy. Plan to stay local, hanging out in the Arts Centre with my son.
Also I went to get my WoF today and failed! My car has a blown brake light bulb which I had no idea of! Wondering how long I've been driving around like this for. Know I should be fixing it now but there's always later.
GoluBoy April 4th, 2008, 10:52 AM :cheer:I'm GAY!
Milan Luka April 4th, 2008, 10:59 AM So now it makes sense now GoluBoy- the avatar, the vogue, vogue, vogue. I'm assuming you must be quite the Madonna fan as well! I bet you like Dee-Lite's 'Groove is in the Heart' then as well?
On the subject of Madonna, she helped confirm my 'straightness' as a 13 year old. It was her Like a Virgin video that did it, and to a lesser extent the Burning Up vid.
vuong tt April 5th, 2008, 01:35 AM My announcement I had a dream in English language. For past 3 weeks I have had a English language tutor. I think my language gets better. I had trouble understanding one of my lecturers and this made me very worried. English has too many rules which are difficult and spelling sometimes is senseless.

minimum chips April 5th, 2008, 09:47 AM I had a big night out last night and still feel sick. All today sleeping working off hangover. Have been seeing a girl for a few weeks and I really like her- just movies and coffee. All platonic, I really like her and think she likes me but we are taking it slowly. She invited me to her work get together tonight but I couldnt face it after last night. I think that this would have been THE NIGHT when one of us went back to the others if you know what I mean.
Now I feel stupid for getting so drunk and I am wondering what she is up too right now having a good time out while I am being a sad bugger at home on a Saturday night. :ohno:
This makes me think I am getting jealous in case she meets any guys there. I might be falling for her.
GoluBoy April 6th, 2008, 03:38 AM ^^ Don't muck about "wondering"???.....send her a nice card "thinking of you"......or text with similar message.:)
minimum chips April 6th, 2008, 07:14 AM ^^ Good advice, thanks. No one should ever die wondering!
I sent her a text just before lunch to see if she was keen for a catch up. She replied about an hour ago apologising saying she was 'out of range' doing a tramp. How yukky have I felt all afternoon until she replied to me!
Says she's pretty tired but is happy to grab a coffee and cake tonight. Wish me luck!
Svartmetall April 6th, 2008, 07:16 AM Best of luck mate! :)
minimum chips April 6th, 2008, 07:48 AM Cheers for that svarty! Fingers crossed mate. I feel wierd discussing it on a skyscraper forum. I feel confident she is not one of the forumers though!:lol::lol:
I'll log on at work tomorrow and give the goss.
Svartmetall April 6th, 2008, 08:35 AM Gossip is always good.
I've been with my girl for almost 3 years now... Scary thought that!

minimum chips April 8th, 2008, 01:10 AM Wasn't at work yesterday.
Went out for coffee and cake Sunday night, talked so much we got kicked out when they closed. Really cold night which made it easy to offer her my coat which ended up in us having our first kiss and cuddle. :colgate:
Sheeeeeeeeeesssshhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
We didnt go back to each others house (she says she wants to take it a bit slow) but she suggested we both take a sickie and spend Monday together. My arm was easily twisted! Not the best weather yesterday but we went to Sumner Beach, got some...wait for it.... fish and chips and went for a walk on the Port Hills. She likes fish and chips, she's perfect for me!
We are going out again on Friday but I dont know if I can wait that long. I will see if she wants to see a movie tomorrow night. Does anybody know if anything good is on that you can take a chick too?

jarbury April 8th, 2008, 02:48 AM That's really sweet min chips. If you want to try something a little different for a date, I suggest ice-skating. If you suck it's even better as you have to hold onto each other all the time.
GoluBoy April 8th, 2008, 06:12 AM ^^ Well done MC Ferris Bueller's day off

Milan Luka April 9th, 2008, 09:52 AM Oh my god. Never would I have thought my thread would immediately turn into a girly Mills and Boon novel. :jk: We are all grown men on this forum aren't we? None of us are actually 16 year old schoolgirls pretending to be men? I liked the old surprise her with a snog while offering her your coat routine, I'll have to use than one myself.
Its all good. Seems like we are all having a great big :grouphug: getting excited about Chippies love life. All the best to you there Anton, sounds like she is a decent chick certainly worthy of the effort. Just be careful what you post on here though, remember Chch is still small enough that someone might know someone might know something who in turn might recognise that it's her we are all discussing.

Speaking of things like that. I expect to make an announcement this coming weekend about boyfriend/girlfriend issues. Thanks for you messages of support guys. I reckon this little lady is a keeper.

you know what i reckon? You said you were a bit too crook (from getting on the razz) to go out that night and might have missed a chance to go back to her/your place... well i reckon that was a blessing. Getting straight in the sack before youve kissed/talked about how you feel/dated etc usually leads to a train wreck... a big one.

Daveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
They are still in our new diggy camera. I'm in Oxford. Will be home latter today and now I have completed all my course work and don't have much to do for the next couple of weeks (apart from packing the house up to move etc), I shall post some Kassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss and Markyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
They might be a bit boring - lots and lots of tall buildings.:nuts:
minimum chips April 21st, 2008, 12:07 AM Yeah photos Davee would be good. Always wanted to do NYC and Chicago, think they must be amazing cities.
Announcement: Chippies got a girlfriend, Chippies got a girlfriend! Great weekend, sealed the deal, all good. She has some nice friends but I have deliberately keep some of my friends away from her
Went ice skating on Saturday during the day- thanks for the suggestion Jarbury. Place was full of kids and they were zooming past us like rockets while we were fumbling and falling all over the place. Had to do much holding onto each other all the time. Bonus was copping a couple of free feels  Was going to go to dinner to Le Bon Bolli but the place was closed- anyone know if they are closed for good or just renovating?
Chritschurch people will know these places.... went to the Belgian beer bar on Armagh Street (always go there good food), Barfly for tapas down the road and then Indochine. Excellent night and those last two places Ive never been to before and they were really cool. The wallpaper in Indochine is deep velvety almost like a bedspread, nice to rub against.
Anyway, back to work.
Davee April 21st, 2008, 12:49 AM ^^^^^^awwwwwwww :) How sweet :banana::)
UglyBob April 21st, 2008, 02:11 AM I got engaged on Friday; took me three years to pop the queston :)

Congrats on your announcements Bob and Chips.
In answer to your question. I walked past their last week and noticed that the place was bare with no sign of activity. The website is still up but their is no word about renovation/closure anything.
Not sure what is going on with them. Ate their once a few years ago. Bloody beautiful, one of the best meals Ive had in New Zealand. French food, fantastic.
MonsieurAquilone April 22nd, 2008, 12:18 AM Congratulations Mr. Minimum Chips and Mr. UglyBob! :D
jarbury April 22nd, 2008, 01:50 AM Glad the ice-skating worked for you min chips. It's good to do something a little different. Being goofy around each other is a good way to "break the ice" (geez terrible pun).
Davee April 22nd, 2008, 06:09 PM Congradulations Bob - I hope you will both be really happy!

Milan Luka July 2nd, 2008, 11:53 AM Here was ML gingerly walking along Gloucester Street yesterday morning trying to miss the ice patches, when - no good I slipped and landed on my arse. No physical damage but a bit of damage to my pride. I had quite an audience which also included a couple of full Redbuses. Got up said a few choice words and kept walking this time with a wet butt. Spewing.
SYDNEY July 2nd, 2008, 11:55 AM  The same thing happened to me at the traffic lights - I slipped on those yellow dotty things ... I wanted to crawl under the paving.

Milan Luka July 2nd, 2008, 12:20 PM ^^^^^^
Now you mention it I think I might have. It is all a bit tender in that area. At home Im off the couch and on my bean bag because it is much more comfy on my tukush. I'll check tonight for bruising when I shower.
KIWIKAAS July 2nd, 2008, 09:40 PM Hows the jewels today Milan?
KIWIKAAS July 2nd, 2008, 09:48 PM Last night when I was walking the dog (not mine. He's a guest for the week) I heard gun shots. You offen hear people letting off fire crackers in my neighbourhood but these were definitely gun shots. My thoughts turned to what could have happened and visions of the trauma inflicted by a bullet exploding out someones torso. I looked down the street, saw nothing and continued walking back home.
This morning on the radio I heard that a man had been fataly shot just 200 metres from where I had been standing with the dog when I had heard the shots. Victim unknown, perpetrator unknown.

Jeez. That's incredibly scary. It was good that you were those 200 metres away - safe and sound! A terrible fate for the shot person though. :ohno:
KIWIKAAS July 5th, 2008, 12:37 PM ^^
It's kind of strange in way. It was just before midnight and it was very quiet on the streets. Heard the shots but for the rest nothing.....totally quiet.
I heard from a friend who lives just round the corner that there was alot of police activity that night and that people had come out of their homes to try and re-annimate the victim on the street but without success. Back at my apartment I heard nothing of the drama just up the road but it's a macabre idea that I heard the fatal shots.

That's the same as a few events I've had near me too!
#1. That huge hit-and-run event in Highland Park.
#2. That elderly woman who was threatened at rifle point and tied up in her house right near me.
It really brings it home when it happens in your neighbourhood! At least I've never had anything happen down my street (touch wood) yet!
Davee July 7th, 2008, 05:22 PM OMG Kaas.........thank goodness you weren't any closer!!!!! Thank heaven your safe!
ML & Sydney..........I can sympathise...........last year I slipped on a sticky wet floor in our local pub......landed flat on my arse.........I just wanted to die...........no one help me up or said are you ok..........so.......just like any nobal queen, I got up and walked with pride to the bar. I just wanted to die from the shame.......Rob just laughed cause it looked so funny.......so much for love.
The next morning, by backside felt as though I'd entertained the All Blacks for the night (I wish).............oh the humiliation we all have to endure :pet::fiddle:
dunedin July 8th, 2008, 02:45 AM On saturday I crashed my new car in to a lamp post:doh: I decided to go for a drive through the snow up in Halfwaybush because we didn't get much snow in Roslyn and I sneezed lost control skidded in the snow and went straight in to a lamp post and now the front of my car is totally mangled :mad2::mad2:
LX July 8th, 2008, 03:22 AM ^^ hahaha sorry to laugh mate but crashing from sneezing is one of the funnier reasons. But yes crashing for any reason sucks big time sorry to hear that hope theres no injury. I fell asleep at the wheel and ended up tangled in the back of a parked Volvo in Remuera if its any consolation. Cost my insurance company a sweet $13,000. Thank god for 3rd party lol!
dunedin July 8th, 2008, 04:33 AM I'm fine but the car most definitly is not it is mangled and I have only had it about 2 months
LX July 8th, 2008, 07:01 AM Argh! yeah thats a pain in the ass
KIWIKAAS July 8th, 2008, 11:38 PM Ah ha! The ol snow, sneeze, skid routine eh
That's a bit nasty dunedin.
No fun taking your new pride and joy to the beaters after such a short time.
UglyBob July 9th, 2008, 12:40 AM Yeah, dunedin, you have my empathy ... I once put my neck out yawning.
Milan Luka July 11th, 2008, 01:43 PM I saw Shania Twain today! At Christchurch airport! From a distance of about 150 metres so didnt get a proper gawk. She was commuting between her NZ and Canada homes apparently, also saw her very impressive private jet.
I know its a cliche but shes plenty smaller than I would have thought she'd be.
Svartmetall July 11th, 2008, 01:45 PM ^^ I've never been lucky enough to meet a star.
That must have been an interesting experience all the same though.
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 01:52 PM I met/saw Mike Lee when I was walking down Pitt Street once
Met Helen Clark, Jeanette Fitsimmons, Sue Bradford, Phil Goff and Nick Smith
SYDNEY July 11th, 2008, 01:53 PM I met/saw Mike Lee when I was walking down Pitt Street once

hmmm who else!
Please, please tell me that you SLAPPED Mike Lee .... oh please make my day ...
Svartmetall July 11th, 2008, 01:55 PM Well, if we're talking minor "celebs". I met Scarlett from Shortland St.
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 01:57 PM ^^
He walked past me...and I was like "I think I know this guy" to my friend...and then i realised he was Mike Lee since I was walking to ARC HQ!
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 01:58 PM Well, if we're talking minor "celebs". I met Scarlett from Shortland St.
OH MY GOD!! I am jealous
Milan Luka July 11th, 2008, 02:01 PM Whcih one Scarlett?
I used to work in hospitality and met or brushed past a few famous people. Some were cool and some were instantly forgettable. Also just going about your daily business in LA you are bound to run into the occasional celeb from time to time.
Last year I was having a coffee on Robertson Blvd in when a really beautiful blonde chick came up to me and asked where the nearest ATM was. I sent her of in the direction of Starbucks and about 1 minute later she came running past me saying 'please leave me alone' with about 6 papparazzi guys in tow. To this day I have no idea who she was.
Svartmetall July 11th, 2008, 02:03 PM Scarlett = Craig's daughter. Oh dear lord I shouldn't know these things.
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 02:05 PM ^^ oh if it was the other scarlett then i am really jealous lol
Kane007 July 11th, 2008, 02:08 PM Lets see - trailed behind Elle McPherson at Auckland Airport back in the 90's - tall and what tight buttocks!
Checked Michael Jones (has been All Black) in on a flight a couple of times + the Tongan Royal children.
Actually used to hang out a bit with Va'aiga Tuigamala (Inga the Winger - all black) and Apollo Perelini (Manu Samoa rugby international) - actually played junior grade Rugby with them, and went to school together. Graham Henry was our school principal.
That old American dude who used to do the Wendy's Burger Adds - used organise his holidays when I was a travel agent, oh, and also did the Maori activist Syd Jackson's travel arrangements too. Plus a few other famous people when I was a travel agent.
Svartmetall July 11th, 2008, 02:10 PM ^^ oh if it was the other scarlett then i am really jealous lol
Why would you be jealous?
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 02:11 PM EDIT
Nicco July 11th, 2008, 02:13 PM Why would you be jealous?
cos shes hot i.e. scarlett johannson
dunedin July 12th, 2008, 12:59 PM There was just a group of people on my back lawn and I have no idea who they were they're probably pissed and looking for their houses I've done that before doesn't matter now scared them off but on my deepest big man voice and yelled what the fuck are you doing on my lawn you twats
GoluBoy July 12th, 2008, 01:30 PM ^^ I would have yelled out.....Free Speights across the road at number 12! :hilarious
Milan Luka July 12th, 2008, 01:32 PM Dont fuck around with twats like that. Probably run off from the rugby test? The cops are probably very busy in little old Dunners tonight making sure the All Black fans get home safely but make sure you call them straight away if these drongos return.
Svartmetall July 12th, 2008, 01:57 PM Hate to say it, but whenever big statements such as "Carisbrooke stadium is the Springbok's graveyard" are bandied around, the All Blacks choke. It happened in the world cup and it's happened again.
It goes to show that sometimes a little humility goes a long way. Sorry to see they lost, but until their attitude is back in check I'll not be rooting for an All Black win. We're getting as bad as some other teams who will remain nameless who win nearly everything under the sun yet still sometimes display arrogance way beyond necessary.
MonsieurAquilone July 12th, 2008, 01:59 PM Tell me about it. The reporting for it also (have you seen TV1..my god...) is stupid. I'm in complete agreement with you there Svarty.
GoluBoy July 12th, 2008, 02:10 PM I agree 2....on the radio they were all saying All Blacks are going to pound the Boks into the ground:nuts:
On a second note: I'm seriously thinking about setting up a *Bring back Stables* campaign....91ZM has just "gone to the dogs". Kids running the whole show:wtf: :ohno:
I don't care what station he's on.....as long as he's back on air, so that I don't have to listen to the SHIT that's currently being spewed everywhere.:puke:
Milan Luka July 12th, 2008, 02:15 PM I just dont get it I just dont get it. Yeah Ive been to a couple of rugby games and watched a few on tv (although the last one Ive seen wouldve been easily 5 years ago). The thing is but, why does this game hold such a place here? It might sound like a stupid question on my part but I REALLY JUST DONT GET IT. Im not interested but feel a little left out when the conversation turns to the ABs latest lock or hooker and Ive got no frickin idea whats being discussed. In most topics you can feign knowledge but I cant even join any rugby discussion because I would be instantly found out to have no idea what Im talking about. Thats tantamount to being a poofter in NZ.
KIWIKAAS July 12th, 2008, 04:40 PM ^^
Soccer was the most popular sport in NZ in the early 20th century untill the first NZ rugby team went on tour to the UK and won. After that rugby was the number 1 sport and hasn't changed since. Just goes to show that if you can win at something then you tend to stick with it.
Btw. I dont have a clue about the All Blacks these days. When I'm in NZ and people talk about the ABs I'm a blank. I might say something stupid like ''go Lomu'' or ''Zinzan looks different''

Milan Luka December 22nd, 2008, 09:25 AM I'll be taking a 10 day break from SSC! Im off to Strayya for a bit of a break. Except its never really a break when you go home. Im gonna try and go a full two days without checking my email and resist the temptation to sneak a peak at SSC. I dont expect to miss too much, every one is on hols and the site has gone dormant.
Behave yourselves everyone (or play up but dont end up on the next reality cop show as the drunken half naked dork walking down the street at 3am.)
See you all in the New Years.

Milan Luka December 22nd, 2008, 10:12 AM Brisvegas to catch up with mates. Then maybe pack a couple of them up in my hirecar and spend a couple of days in a quiet beach town in northern NSW. Chilling back, beers, cricket on the radio, plenty of seafood. Cant wait.

Milan Luka January 7th, 2009, 09:34 AM Cheers Woody and Davee. Back now, Christchurch is about 15 degrees warmer than north NSW coast. Im unpacked, full of food and baking hot just veging out trying to cool down! It must be over 32 degrees still now.
Good to be back but. No, actually its great to be back. I think it'll be a while before I go back home, Im kinda done with Australia, if it wasnt for the family/friend ties and occasional conference I dont think I'd spend much time there at all.
Did I miss anything happening in NZ while I was away. Any more Mitre 10s burned down and made the national news first story?
Congrats Dunedin as well. When you get back we wanna hear all about it!
Davee January 7th, 2009, 11:47 PM ^^^^Great to have you back ML  I love to be home in CHC having a cooooool beer with you at the Yellow House!:)

Svartmetall February 1st, 2009, 10:10 AM ^^ Wow! New York eh? That's quite an amazing turn of events! To be honest, I'm sure you'll enjoy NY a lot more than Brisbane (which I find a little bland truth be told). At least it's New York rather than a bastion of conservatism in the midwest, I'm sure you'll enjoy the company of more liberal-minded and worldly Americans which the East Coast tends to attract more.
I wish you the best of luck. :)

Truth is Ive got a meeting all afternoon which will be a bit messy and unpleasant followed by dinner out tonight schmoozing some people I really dont like when all I really want to do is stay home and watch the cricket. I'm kind of hoping it is rained out so I dont end up missing anything.
Nick.Yeah March 3rd, 2009, 11:45 AM I am now a resident of Wellington :)
Davee March 3rd, 2009, 02:29 PM It's raining, Robs away from home and I'm sad:ohno: and I'm a little pissed off with my boss who lives in the 1830's.

Thanks all for your best wishes. The ceremony was held in Wellington although I would dearly have loved to tie the knot down south. Everything went very smoothly. :)

Elliott Street Apartment Hotel is one I quite like. I've stayed there a couple of times. Nice, big studios for about NZ$205 per night. No views though but it's a nice 1920's style building with a very central location.

Yeah it's beautiful here at the moment I'm so glad I chose NY I love work it's going extremely well it's soo busy.
The concert was on the 23rd it was great but I have never heard so many people scream in my life when she come on to the stage the noise was phenomenal.A massive sell out croed of 20,000 all screaming at once.
It was good though it had acrobats and dancers and motorbikes and they cut her in half and there was fire and stunts and pole dancing and she swung of a big umbrella in the air and sang.

Not all posts count. I've never figured it out. Not to mention they'll randomly wipe post counts every few years. One time I went from about 700 posts to about 8.

True.......when the Mods have a clear out of the threads it can really muck up your post count :ohno:
Svartmetall April 22nd, 2009, 12:12 PM Speaking of which, that Dunedin Stadium Thread is absolutely ripe for a sweeping (along with one particular member too).

As I can now attest. Ive gone from 1000 back to 850 odd. It's all good.
I have a real personal announcement. I hit my head today on an open cupboard door in my kitchen. A pretty nasty cut and a fair amount of blood too which was quite exciting. It probably sounds weird but I love seeing my own blood. Small throbbing headache and I got real tired and felt the need for a snooze which I did. Woke up at 5pm feeling bloody shithouse. Much better now but!
I believe its not a good idea to sleep straight after a head injury, no matter how minor. Might go to the doctor tomorrow just in case.
Svartmetall April 27th, 2009, 10:20 AM Oh dear, hope you're okay ML! You're right about not going to sleep for a bit though, best to see if you're okay a little later before trying to sleep.
As for the post count, I feel your pain! I lost over 500 posts too. We all suffer in the name of cleanliness!
Svartmetall April 27th, 2009, 10:24 AM Oh, and in addition to the post count loss, I moved many of the topics from the front page of Kiwiscrapers to the Koru Lounge. All posts you make in the Koru Lounge do not count to your post total and so any posts you made in those topics will have been subtracted from your total.
Took me a while to work out why so many had disappeared from my total!
Milan Luka April 27th, 2009, 10:24 AM ^^ Oh yeah Im sure Im ok. I just felt like an idiot for leaving the cupboard open and walking into the kitchen while texting on my phone- therefore not looking at where I was going. Would have made a good ACC ad.
Not to mention the pain, Im a bit of a girls blouse when it comes to that kind of thing. A few years ago I ripped out my patella, in the emergency dept when they pushed it back in apparently I made a whole heck of noise.

SYDNEY April 28th, 2009, 07:58 AM My turn to make an announcement, I need to show off ;)
My award winning design has now been featured in The Sunday Herald (Homes section) and I will have another half page feature in approx 3 weeks time.
Next Month's PARNELL DARLING will also have a story about me (and they have asked me to write a monthly design column for Newmarket's FLAIR magazine),
EXPRESS (the NZ gay newspaper) has also written an article in their latest issue.
I am also mentioned on the following websites:

Wont get up to to much mischief however, its all for work.

Have a great time...........it's a sister city. I really liked it, but CHC is much better :lol::lol: Hope the ADL boys don't read that.
I'll be interested to hear what you have to say when you get back.
The one thing I think that is bad is there is not direct flight between CHC and ADL :ohno:
