The Satnam House behind High Street Centre had been demolished. Last time it was known for its shophouse-ish look. Concrete building with concrete grille sunshades.

From the top of my head here are the stats:

Developer, Raffles Financial Centre Pte Ltd
Architect, RSP Architects

Description:

9 storey commercial building with 3 basements (or was it 2)

About time. It was quite an eyesore.

Yup all I remember was a monstrosity there. Don't remember any shophouse-ish structure. Pity about the height, then again no tall buildings should have been allowed behind Parliament and the domes of Supreme Court & St Andrews IMO.

Maybe those patterns are interesting, but all I remembered of it was a concrete eyesore, an embarrasment on the cityscape. I bet what was there before it was built was far more like a shophouse ;)

Actually it's a very interesting piece of architecture. Reminds me of the weird and wonderful variations of sunshading I saw around Hongkong Street.

u know...it actually reminds me of an ideal building for the creatures to live in during the day in the movie recently by will smith 'i am legend'

You're right, come to think of it, the sunshading grilles are too dense to allow for natural daylighting. Hmm
