Hi guys,
A friend is working on a school project, involving a smoker's addiction cure center, and wants to know if there is any special kind of coating for glass panels that if interacting with the cigarette smoke, would turn the glass opaque with time. The effect on the glass panels should be visible from outside also.
Do you know of such, or any suggestion where to look for it?
Thank you

Imperfections/holes in glass are much smaller than smoke particles and so it can't act as a substrate.
There may be some electrical mechanism to bind polarised smoke particles (difficult, because they are massive particles and not atomic) to a surface, but you're better of asking a nanotechnologist or material scientist.
My background is in physics and also efficient buildings (including glazing). You'd need to ask someone who went further than my Physics degree who may know about it.
