I agree This does not reflect at all the economic growth of Casablanca nd the morrocco .

The second photo is at least 10 years old. The Hyatt Regency (The red/yellow building on the far right) has been painted into white sometimes in 2000 already. The BMCE building right next to it has been upgraded with Green marble (which actually looks very nice!). Also, the Casa City Center has been built since (at least the first part of it is)

You guys also have to keep in mind that the surroundings that you see are the "Old Medina", the historic center of Casa, I doubt it will destroyed anytime soon!

China has destroyed a lot of historical monuments, areas etc because it doesn't feet anymore in the new modern China. In place they build their new modern buildings..

Not all of the buildings in the medina are historic monuments some are not more than 40 years old. But i agree with you, its much better to restore the medina than to destroy it.

I've already said it a million times before, it makes no sense to build huge buildings if no one is going to occupy them, its not a healthy practice because it artificially inflates house/land prices and everyone suffers as a result.

That being said, the 'large' buildings in downtown casablanca are mostly crap, at least the ones built between 1960 and 1990. These really need to be restored and refurbished.

yes tanger looks cleaner more modern than casablanca and will continue to do so , the medina no leave it alone !!! but restore it yes !!!
the atlas tower the twin centers the hassan 2 mosque and couple of other buildings are good but the rest needs to be destroyed
