Doesn't look like it will have any problems with zoning and they're rental towers (with office space and retail) so you don't have to worry about sales.

Anyway, the site of the towers is also pretty interesting. It is the old CBS studio building, home to the first televised presidential debate between Kennedy and Nixon.

gorgeous towers. Extremely nice in their simplicity. Hope they get built.
Can anybody show the impact on the skyline? I would do it if I knew how to use photoshop...

Very nice, especially at the base (as previously mentioned). I'd consider a darker shade of glass, but it's nice to see new proposals in the face of the credit crunch. This would've been a great design for Block 37.

These are going to really stick out and hopefully add much more depth to that area of the skyline, hopefully they will fill the skyline role lost by the 680 N. Rush failure.

This is really a solid design, I'm glad to see this site put to such good use instead of being annexed into the Northwestern Hospital hellhole...

Looks like a glassy Grand Plaza redux. It still embodies the same developmental archetype, but at least it rids itself of Grand Plaza's most repugnant feature: the chintzy painted concrete.

Plan Commission approves McClurg high-rises
SOAR, Reilly support project that would replace

By Ben Myers

The Chicago Plan Commission Thursday approved two new mixed-use high-rises along the 600 block of North McClurg, between Erie and Ontario.
...
Lee Golub, executive vice-president of Golub & Co., which proposed the project, said the company is committed to commemorating site's history. That could mean a statue in a 7,100-square-foot park, which is part of the proposal.

I was a bit puzzled by the name onterie of another tower mentioned earlier ... now I see how someone could come up with a strange name like that ... ontario and erie

anyway, great to see this project getting approved.

I'm sorry to bump the thread but... Is this just dead or...?
I mean... The market is returning now so... You know...

Hope that's clear! :)

^^Most likely dead. The developer basically traded the site for another smaller site a street or two south of this one.
