I have to agree fully with Schmeek. I don't think it looks like a 66k capacity stadium either. And surely not nearly as big as Allianz.

I actually like the Seoul stadium better than Allianz - it's one of my favourite stadiums in the World, but it doesn't look like a 66k seater imo. More like 40-45k. But it is indeed nice! (And for the record, I'm not doubting it DOES actually seat 66k).

And to get back on topic: I love Saitama too. Pretty much all of the stadiums built in association with the 2002 WC are top-notch.

Yeah, more so than Seoul anyway. Although interesting question now that I think about it.

I guess it's down to the proportions. The Saitama one have different sized stands, while Seoul's stands are the same height all around the pitch. Allianz is too (more or less), but with 3 tiers instead of 2, it helps make it look quite a bit bigger.

Though the calm aestethics of Seoul, and the fact that it looks like what it is, a proper football stadium, makes it a better stadium in my eyes.

I'd say its down to the design for both the Korean and Japanese stadium following a plan you'd expect from a 40k seat stadium just scaled up by 50% while Allianz follows a plan you'd expect from an 80K stadium.

i still prefer sitama's over seoul's...
