Anyone,

Planning to do road trip around C. Java starting and ending in Jogjakarta for about 10days. Looking to research Indonesian indigenous village industries (from furniture to palm sugar). Can anyone advise me locations and scenic routes? And the products as well? The more obsucre & remote the better.

Begini rutenya dari jogja muter2 kota terlbh dahulu byk yg bisa dijelajahi mulai dari malioboro, keraton jogja, taman sari, wisata belanja kaos dagadu n dadung di sekitaran kraton jogja. Stelah itu bisa lanjut ke pantai parang tritis, parang kusumo, dlm perjalanan ke pantai bisa mampir dlu di kasongan sentra belanja gerabah and keramik, bisa juga mampir dlu ke kota gede sentra belanja perak.
Rute selanjutnya ke arah pantai2 di kawasan wonosari yaitu pantai baron-bisa makan ikan bakar disini, pantai kukup, pantai krakal, pantai sundak n msh byk lagi pantai2 yg lain karena jalannya bisa menyusuri pantai2.
Rute selanjutnya kearah timur ke arah solo. Pemberhentian pertama candi prambanan n candi sewu, sebenarnya ada byk candi di daerah situ kalo sempat mampir ke Keraton Boko, candi kalasan, candi jago dan msh byk lg, di daerah itu trus lanjut deh ke solo.
Rute selanjutnya ke arah magelang ada candi Mendut, candi Borobudur, sentra oleh2 tape ketan n patung batu di muntilan.
Dari arah yg sama dari muntilan bisa belok arah ke gunung merapi- ada sungai boyong kalo gak salah, view ke arah merapi yg sgt keren n sgt jelas.
Rute terakhir merapi lewat jalan kaliurang bisa menemui jalam tebet nya jogja, byk butik2 n distro2 kalo minat. Trus ke kaliurang, dari kaliurang bisa ke kali adem-deket dgn rumahnya mbah Maridjan.
Tiap rute gw estimasikan bisa dijangkau smua dalam 1 hari jadi bisa brgkt dr jogja n balik lg ke jogja pada hari yg sama.

terima kasih for the above. i think saya mengerti most of it. but it seems like the places you suggested are touristy ones. i prefer not meet other bules (well, i'm not actually bule, only a bit, but anyway) or local tourists with their indoor sunglasses and layers of 'fashion' jackets even if it's baking hot outside ;o)

i desperately want TRADITIONAL. maybe anyone knows villages and beaches to go to in surrounding smalltowns? like Jepara, etc? the only reason I started and end the trip in Jogjakarta is because the airport is there.

Actually, to start from Semarang and ends at Yogyakarta is also a good idea. You can start travelling the "pantura" side of central java, which is Pekalongan - with their Batik industry then Kudus with their Jenang (javanese traditional candies), Jepara with their wood industry, you should also going to Karimunjawa island or Kartini beach in the same area (Jepara). From there, just go down to Ungaran, Salatiga then Ambarawa...the scenery in Salatiga is breathtaking, I just love walking in their paddy rice field.

Goa Gong beda ya sama Gua Tabuhan ? klo ak sih pernah ke gua tabuhan. Denger2 gua gong merupakan gua terpanjang di Indonesia.

if you wanna to see and involve in sugar making (pembuatan gula jawa) please visit some village at Cilacap, banyumas, and banjarnegara. My village, Kebanaran-Mandiraja-Banjarnegara have many many home industry of sugar making. In there you can see the people climb the coconut tree and pick-up some nira (bhs ingrisnya apa ya?) and proceed up to sugar. And I give you guarantee that no bule or touris in there...totally village
