Bit of discussion about this on the Wellington threads. Deserves a thread all of its own now. Following has been lifted from www.nbr.co.nz
Globe unveils Casino apartments

Globe Holdings director Andrew Fawcett this week unveiled plans for a revamp of Remiro Bresolin's former Il Casino restaurant in Wellington.
The function held on Wednesday evening was attended by local property representatives and civic dignitaries.
The former restaurant will be transformed into an up-market residential development to be called Appartamento Il Casino.
The facade will be retained with new buildings built behind it. The development on the corner of Tory and Jessie Sts will have up to 31 apartments over nine floors. On the ground floor will be a cafe, restaurant, and resident parking.
Mr Fawcett said that he sought permission to use the restaurant's name and Remiro Bresolin "graciously gave us his blessing before he passed away in March 2007." Mr Fawcett said he wanted a building with more personality and character than some other contemporary apartment buildings. The apartments will include one-bedroom and two- bedroom dwellings, some with a study and, on the upper levels, three- and four-bedroom apartments with a study.
The Appartamento Il Casino development is being marketed by Wellington real estate agency Tommy's, which is also marketing the capital's other four main apartment buildings in the market - Republic, Piermont (under construction), Monument (under construction) and The Altair.
According to local analysts, the Wellington market does not have the same glut of apartments as the Auckland inner city. About 12,000 people have moved into the centre of Wellington and embraced apartment living over the past decade, according to Wellington City Council, which is keen to promote swathes of affordable apartments for families. However, those buildings will be in a different price class from most recent apartment developments.
Two of Globe Holdings' recent Wellington developments, The Summit Apartments on Molesworth St and the Courtyard houses that form part of The Waterfront Seatoun, have won architectural awards.
