Located on Skøyen right next to the railway station, this building was originally part of the Sjølyststranda development. The building was taken out of the project and is now developed by Fram (http://www.fram.no/) (The firm behind neighbouring Karenlyst Allé 55-57 (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=karenlystalle5557-oslo-norway) and the Nye Major (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=nyemajor-oslo-norway) development).
The building is devided into 3 parts, with the part facing Drammensveien being the tallest with 12 floors, the middle with 4 and the third with 8. In total 25.000 square metres, with room for 974 workspaces.
Construction is to start in the third quarter of 2008 and completion in 2010.
More rendering and information to be found here (http://www.fram.no/viseiendom.cfm?id=48) and here (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=sjolystforum-oslo-norway)
Nõgesh April 18th, 2008, 07:01 PM It's simple and it's made of glass so I like it :D
Þróndeimr April 18th, 2008, 07:20 PM Looks great! And finally, after so many years, first proposed as a 20 floor tall building. Had forgotten about this one actually. Great to see it back again!
staff April 18th, 2008, 07:47 PM You know you're in N&B when 43 meter tall buildings get their own threads in the highrise forums.
Looks decent. Though, nothing special at all.
Ingenioren April 18th, 2008, 08:37 PM Hahah! This one actually breaks the 42 meter general Oslo height limit;) Small things makes us happy in nimby-paradise=)
Bergenser April 21st, 2008, 09:13 PM I like it. :)
Ingenioren October 1st, 2008, 05:31 PM This is the site from the side where the tallest part will rise:

Ingenioren November 14th, 2008, 01:14 PM It's put on ice! The contractors bids were to high, and it needs tennants before getting built..

mjoks007 November 14th, 2008, 03:04 PM not good. its also writteb that there will be build less new næringsbygg than they thought the next couple of years :(
Þróndeimr October 29th, 2009, 06:15 PM Any news on this one?
muster October 29th, 2009, 06:30 PM Any news on this one?
Don't know with the plans, but I'm working at Skøyen and I can only say there is no activity there at the moment.
mjoks007 January 27th, 2010, 01:01 PM This project is about to start again. Seems like the facade design has changed a bit.
http://www.bygg.no/id/50185.0
Olabil January 27th, 2010, 03:14 PM The project is nice, but i really wished they could build a bit taller. Not much land like this left in Oslo.
IceCheese January 27th, 2010, 04:34 PM Yes, a missing piece coming to Skøyen! A highrise (though a quite low one) is what Skøyen lacks.
Render from bygg.no for use in first post:

The change of design in the lower part certainly is an improvement, but I'm not as convinced when coming to the change in the towers' facade.
Ingenioren January 28th, 2010, 12:17 AM Oh.no, i liked the wavy glasstop... :ohno: Brilliant idea to build taller at Skøyen, hopefully Lysaker will follow, *Olav Thon?*
Mulefisk January 28th, 2010, 11:10 AM I quite liked the big writing on the old design. The wavy glasstop was also cool. At least the project is back on, and it hasn't changed too much. The towers, which are really nice, are at least still there.
I can't help but think though, this building really looks like a railway station enterance. The current station at Skøyen is in a sad state of affairs. How cool wouldn't it be if this building was turned into the/a new enterance?
Eitehr way they're going to have to do something soon. When the t-bane/trikk/something else is built from Fornebu, Skøyen will become an even bigger knutepunkt than it is today. Hopefully they'll revamp the station. At least space is not an issue. The large area under the tracks between the road and the eastern enterance could easily be turned into a nice indoor station area.

Agreed. Skøyen station isn´t much to look at. I guess the problem is that it is protected (as usual). A nicer solution should be possible, and as you mention, there is a lot of possibilities when looking at the area east of the current station. An integrated solution for both bus, tram and train in the area, should be sought for, possibly with connections with this building. But that´s dream thinking again, as no one seems to be minded with overall planing in this city (or country).
When the t-bane/trikk/something else is built from Fornebu, Skøyen will become an even bigger knutepunkt than it is today.
I thought Lysaker would get that role.;)

Most localtrains from the east and north have Skøyen as an endingpoint.

The site is a paved parkinglot, but in a few weeks construction will start. The perspektive is facing the tallest towers side:

City of Rain February 2nd, 2011, 05:16 PM That looks great! It would be great if Arenum got an equally awesome design.
Galro February 2nd, 2011, 07:07 PM I think it looks rather bland. Guess it's better than the open parking lot that used to be there at least, but they should have gone higher imho.
kjetilab February 2nd, 2011, 07:15 PM I think it looks rather bland. Guess it's better than the open parking lot that used to be there at least, but they should have gone higher imho.
Back in the days when this plot was part of the Sjølyststranda development the proposal called for a 20 stories building, but then someone would loose some view or sun or something (the usual stuff), so they lowered it. And took it out of the Sjølyststranda project.
Galro February 2nd, 2011, 07:25 PM I think it's shame that sightlines and view should dictate the city development. When you live inside a major city, you can't except to keep your view forever. We should be more concerned about how the buildings connect with the streetscape and the design rather than how many can see it.
Olabil February 2nd, 2011, 08:33 PM This building should be twice as high as what is planned. No doubt about it!
IceCheese February 2nd, 2011, 10:00 PM I'm happy with the small stuff. It still ended up far taller than the other buildings at Skøyen (a new highrise in Oslo west!!), and it didn't end up just as dominated by glass as the initial renders (basicly they wanted even more glass. Now we get two seperated glass volumes). So yeah, an improvement to Skøyen.
starkwell February 3rd, 2011, 10:36 PM i like it, it suits the area and fits with the other buildings.
i'm pretty sure the previous design was more art deco, tho?
Mulefisk February 4th, 2011, 05:18 PM That looks very very good.
Now if they'll just turn that awful empty area under the railroad into a nice indoor station area then Skøyen will start becoming much nicer.
Ingenioren February 5th, 2011, 05:56 PM Atleast put up some more lighting...

muster April 25th, 2011, 11:51 PM Too bad we didn't get a 20+ floor highrise at Skøen this time. Maybe we soon will se some interesting plans for Båthavna? I hope so!
Wasn't there plans for a highrise at Drammensveien 128 or something some years ago? What happend with that proposal?
A little reminder how it could have been

IceCheese April 26th, 2011, 12:20 AM ^^The only thing that's certain on vestkanten, is that nothing above 12 floors will get approved. Simple as that.

PBE's site is down, so I can't find any status... Probably dead (and ugly).
