That's the spirit. Fuck the investigations and forum which presented a wealth of unknown information, lost knowledge and links to history

It's a shame! They gave us some of the greatest views of Birmingham we had ever seen - underground and above ground! :(

Good.

Care to explain? :? I thought everyone on here liked what they did. I've never been on their forum but I've seen some of the photos on here before.

Well if you mean Good as in being against Urban exploration (well, Breaking and Entering lol) than the closing of the forum doesn't mean a stop to people doing it, theres just no collective site to exchange trespassings at present.

I think its a shame its gone, there'll be a new one soon I imagine.. I don't commend what they do with their nights but their pics are breathtaking

seconded ferge. plenty of them seem to post here anyway, if anything youll see more of their stuff on ssc. i dont approve of what they do (in my position i *cant*) but that doesn't stop me admiring their work.

Oh I see. I didn't realise that's what they did - I just thought they knew the right people who had keys to these places.

Investigations information? They never give up any information apart from short history of a building they visited which you can find easily on the net anyway.

Im not against what they do.I even joined the forum thinking it would be something like SSC - everybodys nice and friendly.No...these guys are infact an incredibly arrogant and unfriendly bunch.

Im upset to see 28DL has closed. I visited the forums a lot (though I only ever lurked) and they seemed a very friendly bunch to me. I even met Downfallen on the Broadgate tour and thought he was a great guy.
I am not against what they do, as although it IS breaking and entering, they do no damage and take nothing from the sites they visit.

Well of course there were some nice people on there like Downfallen but majority of them struck me as incredibly arrogant and unfriendly individuals but maybe its just me.

PS.I wouldnt say it is breaking and entering as they do not break in.

From a Birmingham POV it's a great loss (at least the forums are read-only though), some of my favourites were the Aston Science Park and the Birmingham Battery Co.

Maybe it's the nature of the Internet that nothing will ever remain a secret, there's no point bickering about that, accept the inevitable.

I don't see what the problem is, trespassing's not a crime.

I thought the UE of Birmingham's tunnels and Crystal Phallus was incredible

Good.

Then again

"they being Moonwalker, Baptizer and Mistaken Identity"

Bet their real names are something like Tarquin...

I will certainly miss the photos they generated but I know where El Greco is coming from. The exchange between one of the main guys and AndySimo, for placing some oversized photos on the site left a bitter taste with me

Its strange and a bit saddening that some of you seem to have such a negative view of 28DL and dare I say urban exploration.

Firstly ....I have to point out I , and nearly every explorer I know, wouldnt break and enter......there are many ways to get where you need to go...without 'breaking'...it just requires a bit of time and thought.
I'll also add I would never intentionally damage anything on a site I would visit....its simply not why I am there.....again, this goes for the majority of 28DL guys as well.

28DL has closed....quite suddenly....because the site owner didnt like the direction that the forum was taking.
There was quite a bit of 'infighting' between a few of the more 'hardcore' explorers.....disagreements , usually based on egos, that really didnt need to be aired publically.
There was also a feeling ( I think) that the 'reason' was being lost in the process.....example...a site would become 'available' but would be visted over and over by others....and many reports posted on the same site.
Nothing wrong with that.....but each 'clone' more often than not lacked any originality in content ( at best)

Like all sites there are some real dickheads.....but Ive met a few of the 28DL guys.....and to be fair they are on the whole nice people ,like me and you. :) so it was a shock the owner took this drastic decision.

Nothing has changed.....people are still out there, still exploring......there may be a slight hiatus as people relocate to different online communities to share and meet like minded souls....but the exploration cannot be stopped that easily....and that is the 'core' of the matter.
I do what I do because its something that brings me alot of satisfaction.
I also get alot of satisafction in sharing records of these vists with like minded people...people like other explorers and people like you....hence sharing pictures online.
If I couldnt share the pictures....would I stop exploring? of course not....its the explore first, everytime..

I had not really heard of the forum until recently so can't really comment on its demise. However, I do like what these guys shoot and I guess the images will find there way out to the rest of us eventually. Pity the main area for them is gone.

Well put mate!

I didn't have any strong views either way, except it made my legs turn to jelly seeing some of the photos.
