The Cebuano Exultor April 21st, 2008, 06:30 AM ^^ Nice!
Foglio1986, you, once again, showed your skill with the camera with these fantastic set of pics from Shanghai. :applause:
Thanks for sharing them. :okay:
bonivison April 21st, 2008, 06:32 AM Nice! but where are part 1 and part 2?
西藏属于中國 April 21st, 2008, 03:41 PM nice
Patachou April 21st, 2008, 05:02 PM very nice
AATAATAATAAT April 21st, 2008, 06:27 PM Nice! Have a good day!
Foglio1986 April 21st, 2008, 08:11 PM is pretty boring to see that all photos here are about the Bund! Bund is just a small part of shanghai along the waterfront, but it does not represent entire shanghai! i have been to shanghai, city really diappoints me that arpart from the bund showcase, rest parts of shanghai still seems like a third world slum, dirty, flithy and chaotic traffic! serval times i was nearly hit by the bikes and scooters; i was shoved in the subway, serval times the poeple's spitting is nearly splashed on my shoes! is horrible! plz get over the bund, see the true face of shanghai! that is a city of huge contrast between richs and poors!
What you said is real? I not such thought ,It is not perfect,But it is beautiful !Which country can tell me you from ?
ZZ-II April 21st, 2008, 09:43 PM great collection, shanghai is so damn awesome!!!
qubiwei April 22nd, 2008, 12:46 PM "that is a city of huge contrast between richs and poors!"
agree with u
megacool April 22nd, 2008, 12:52 PM "that is a city of huge contrast between richs and poors!"
agree with u
where not?
qubiwei April 22nd, 2008, 01:03 PM sure:)
HiTOPHi April 22nd, 2008, 07:36 PM ^^ you are so pathetic. This entire web site is about skyscrapers. If you want to see slums, just peek outside your window. Japan is slum free? Give me a break. Have you ever been to Japan?
snow is red April 22nd, 2008, 09:15 PM all cities in Japan are slum-free and well-organised, No very obvious rich and poor contrast! cities in Europe dont have such thing! cities in Austrlia and NZ dont have! the cities in USA do have poors, however, those poors do not make so much mess, do not bring down the whole image of the place!
shanghai is different, richs and poors in shanghai is too obvious, u can spot it right on the street by their way of dressing! the 30% of rich people in shanghai live in 21 century, they have cars, live in nice apartment or even villas, they dress clean and stylish; 50% of low-income migrant wokers from the ohter parts of china live in 20 century, they share crappy flats and barely maintain baic livings, they dress normal without any concepts of fasion; and 20% absuolutly poors still live the lifestyle of early 1970 or 80 of China, they live in slums, have no access of running water and living palce is dirty and crowed, their way of dressing has no differnt with the street beggers
anyone does not believe me, simply go to shanghai: go to teh bund to see the 21th centuery of shanghai, and go to the ohter parts to see the commuist age of china!
oh please, gimme a break, where are you from ? Europe don't have poor parts and slums ? think again.Canada don't have ? think again. There are already number of threads about extreme slummy places in European countries, search for it and open your eyes.
ok if you've been to shanghai before and experience those extreme poverty then post up your pictures, you're free to do so and that is the most solid proof rather than bullshit from someone who said this http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=604198&page=2 (scroll down near to the bottom of the page)
and any countries with poor parts are in the communist age, well in that case I wonder how many countries in this world are communist (you can help me count)
And my most honest advice to you here : look at yourself and your country first before passing on judgement, I know sometimes the reality is too much for some people to handle, I understand that.
And don't take me wrong here, I am not claiming that China is perfect in anyway, I know China is still a developing country but if someone want to badmouth China then I don't think I am obliged to act nice in that case. I welcome any comments either constructive or critical but if some people try to embed any hints of racism then I don't think it's tolerable.
Judge yourself before you judge someone else.
Good day to you.
bonivison April 23rd, 2008, 04:16 AM That's true, China is still an undeveloped country,
But Shanghai looked really nice among so many Chinese cities,
Only Hongkong is better
Beijing can compete,
Big cities in the mainland really have poor districts,
Developed countries do have, but much less.
That's why China is developing
while West world has been developed.
China needs time to catch up with them.
dajumper April 23rd, 2008, 02:07 PM Isn't China classified as developing rather than undeveloped?
womfalcs3 April 23rd, 2008, 10:26 PM Very nice.

Foglio, can you please post more of this and the night life ?
I am so sick and tired of seeing those highrises and skyscrapers, something different please.
lester April 28th, 2008, 06:54 PM ya Pudong views were overposted, but still nice seeing the SWFC is about to be completed.
TheBigKahuna April 29th, 2008, 09:43 AM the chinese believe that couple of skyscrapers in city center means " oh..we are modern"! what is mordenity? do you people really know? yeah, shanghai certianly has more skyscrapes than Tokyo or London or even New York! But, why No one is convinced that shanghai is greater than Tokyo or London or New York?
when u take on the street in shanghai, u would sense clearly what a underdeveloped country city is all about! beside those skyscrapers, u can see the dirty water running around street, street vender borthers you all the time with their couterfeirt products, sooooo many bikes, and plus heaps and heaps of slums and shacks blend with highrises!
the poeple in shanghai, omg, they would do whatever it takes to protect their personal human right! they will spit on the street if their throat feels unwell, the car they drive will horn at you if you stand in their way; people will shove you hardly if u stand in front of them in a queue; they will pee on the street simply the toliet is not within 100 meters!
well, there are no excuse for those! i assure you that you dont find those kind of stuff in any cities in Japan, not even in countryside! dude, i have been to Japan, i can tell u without a second of thinking, the cleaness and mordenity of Japan is beyoung ur imaingation! they can put the European and American cities in a big shame when it comes to cleaness, mordentiy and behavior of poeple! 10 days in Japan day and night, I did not find one pices of rubbish on street, i did not spot single person spitting, i did not see one single car horns at people!
the mainland chinese visitors from rest parts of china in shanghai seems very impressed with the skylines in shanghai; but, foreign visitors in shanghai are not intested in those! they wanna see how poeple live there, how they behave everyday, how the culture of this city, how is daily life organisation, when comes to those points, shanghai lacks!
shanghai is just similar to some cities in vitnam, india, Indonisa so on, where have so many skyscrapers but people's life there is harsh, and city seems very choatic!
 ROFLMAO

Exactly! Shanghai is comparable to New York in 1908 relatively. New York back then had huge tracts of slums in the Lower East Side and was very dirty with tons of open markets, horse carriages, horse shit everywhere, etc. It was pretty shitty and aside from early downtown skyscrapers, it was nothing compared to the greatest cities of the early 20th century, which were London, Paris, and Berlin. But then in the 1930's, New York became the largest city in the world and also one of the greatest cities in the world, almost on par with London and Paris. Wait until 2030. I'm sure by then, Shanghai will be pretty close to New York and Tokyo.

bonivison May 5th, 2008, 03:07 AM Just back from Shanghai, I've been to Shanghai for several times, the city is really amazing, yes, it has a lot of problems as gl22 said, but what really amazed me is construction is almost everywhere,(maybe that is the reason why you find it is unorganized somehow), I never went to a foreign country, maybe developed countries are very modern, but when I went to Hongkong which is taken as the most developed Chinese city, I found some places like slums too. So I still believe Shanghai is one of the most great cities in the world
huaxia-zhonghua May 5th, 2008, 03:39 AM man, tokyo and newyork wasn't built up in a day, give china more time. at least we are developing fastly.
I saw some pics of tokyo's slums, and no comments on NY
