I have a very good idea...Germany was in extremely bad shape until things finally turned around in the 50s after the Marshall plan...now I'm not sure what you're trying to get at by asking me this...but if you are trying to tell me that Iraq is so far doing better than Germany or Japan was immediately after the war...as Rumsfeld has been trying to convince the world, then you're right...but how the hell do you compare WWII to the Iraqi war?!
Iraq is different not just with that respect. They have a totally different culture...and strict religious beliefs and tradition and were conquered for reasons we may not know until we watch the history channel 50 years from now when all the politicians are dead...I don't see how a democracy will be set up in Iraq...it's hard for me to predict anything...I have no idea where the U.S. is headed with this...but I wish the best for the Iraqis.

That's exactly what I was getting at.

Anyway, as far as rating the Baghdad skyline, I don't see much of a skyline to rate. There are a couple highrise apartment buildings and some mosques that stick out, but nothing that qualifies as a significant skyline to me. I'd rate it a 2.

well u think its a joke, because of ur lack of education, but not me, despite the war, baghdad is still one of the most beautiful cities, it has the most amazing history, right from the times of babylon through the islamic middle ages when it was the jewel of the world, knowledge and education. It still has many amazing historic sites, which the rest of the world has forgotten, iraq was the cradle of civilization.

Americans like you are in too deep with the Iraq situation, and they dont even realize America is not fight against IRAQ, they are fighting in partnership with IRAQ, so nextime you make a joke about Iraq, your making a joke against your ally and people think of you as an ingnorant person.

3/10. I spent a few weeks in Baghdad, while only a few government buildings were destroyed the rest of the city isn't impressive. Unfortunately the area now known as the Green Zone isn't pictured. It has the wide boulevards and decorated government buildings layed out in with memorials to the Iraq/Iran War. I'm surprised the absolutely huge mosque isn't pictured.

In the early 90s I worked with an Iraqi refugee who said that it was once one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East.

Unfortunatly todays baghdad is not even a shadow of what it used to be like, its all destroyed and finished but its not the first time Baghdad has been destroyed in history it will soon be back to its former glory one day hopefully because baghdad is baghdad just like Damascus, Egypt, Iran etc etc a city of civilisation and culture and a diverse population

Baghdad was were writing originated and irrigation systems was first used many great treasures have been stolen its not just a human loss but from a historic point of view its a great loss for mankind and our incompetence to protect our past, we spend so much time learning about history yet we sit and do nothing as that history is destroyed. Its a reminisance of the Mongol invasion and burning of the librarys and books of Baghdad
