Pablo > The size is twice the size of Midvalley only....not 12 times......and the rollercoaster isn't cutting down at 12 floors high (the rollercoaster isn't that high to begin with). The manager denied this and this is just a question by the DJ so I think you misinterprete it. ;)

Baqthier > I spoke to this lady when I was there. I recognised her voice and her position as the manager confirm it! :)

SzeHoong> cool. She's a pro. It sounds as if it's arranged and not candid! Wowfm also tried other companies last time, and the representatives are good. The Dj once called Midvalley, and said he want's to bring his cow there to shop with him :D

yeah.....it does have some Art Deco influence in it. not just the facade but the dimension of the building, symmetrical values and the columns have Art Deco influences too. Yea....Art Deco flourishes in the 20s when the rage and craze was started by the discoveries of the ancient Egyptian Royal tombs (in particular Tuttenkhamen (sp?) - the boy king).........;)

Seed,

yup I was born in Belgrade, studied architecture (skyscraper design - my professors did a lot of work in Iraq, by the way) and moved to SG 11 years ago, when war in my place started - I had very little choice at that time...

... either go away, or become a cannon fodder for a bastard dictator (my constituency voted for opposition and he decided to draft them all into his "war" business project as to kill off young opposition - what a smart electorate management idea is it?!?)

BTW, the old Yugoslavia was the only country outside the Muslim world to have dinar as its currency for the whole of its existence, before World War II, for sometime Yugoslav GOLD DINAR (sounds familiar??) was one of the most stable European currencies!

You'll even be surprised that many common words are spelled exactly the same in Belgrade and Kuala Lumpur : RESTORAN, MUZIKA, EKSTRA, PROJEKT etc - exactly same spelling and pronunciation, believe it or not! We can pronouce Malay basically without any training - just got to pick up understanding it hehe

Now I'm what? Proud to be a Singaporean?!? Yup, I'm S'pore citizen for long. My involvement with skyscrapers, well that's confidential for now
:)

It will only be launched in october. And it's one of the world's largest mall at more than 800 shops. The size of the whole building is 7.5million sq feet which is bigger than the both the Petronas Towers. ;)

None of the tenants moved in yet as they are still waiting for our City Hall and the Fire Dept to give the green light.

And no one (except for construction workers and prospect buyers) are allowed into the building.......that's why it is empty....;)

Square’s anchor clients confirm tenancy

By CHOW HOW BAN

FIVE of Berjaya Times Square’s anchor clients have confirmed their tenancy at the shopping complex-cum-hotel, with a signing ceremony recently.

The tenants are Golden Screen Cinemas, Shasta Supermarket, Debenhams, IMAX 3D Theatre and Toy City. Also joining the bandwagon are service providers Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd, eCosway, Visa International and Sinar Jernih Sdn Bhd.

The ceremony was witnessed by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Berjaya Group Bhd and Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

The event also saw the introduction of its Cosmo’s World Theme Park’s mascots, Professor Cosmo and its sidekick, Ooort.

Covering 35,298 sq metres of floor space, the indoor theme park is expected to be one of the main attractions at the Square, with four specially designed and manufactured thrill rides.

It also has the largest bowling centre in the country with 56 lanes, including eight lanes for hosting private parties.

Tan said Berjaya Times Square had achieved over 75% tenancy level, bringing to shoppers a wide array of choices to satisfy their shopping, dining and entertainment needs.

“Now that Berjaya Times Square is completed, we can focus our efforts on the finishing touches to prepare for our official opening at 11am on Sept 29 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” he said.

He said with its built-up floor area of 696,666sq metres, the complex was the world's largest project ever undertaken in a single phase.

“It will be home to over 1,000 retail and 100 food and beverage outlets. It is expected to attract some three million visitors a month, a figure which I am confident we will achieve, given its abundant facilities and its location in the Golden Triangle which will be easily accessible to everyone,” he said.

BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

AFTER a four-year delay, the Berjaya Times Square is finally slated to open on 29th Sept, 2003. (next Monday!!!) :D

Already regarded as the “mother of all malls”, the Berjaya Times Square with a sales value of RM2.5 billion and total investment of RM1.75 billion, is said to be the largest building of its kind to be built in a single phase in the world!

The six-in-one development boasts of 7.5 million sq ft of built-up area comprising two million sq ft of retail space, 2.45 million sq ft of common car park and service facilities, 450,000 sq ft indoor theme park, 130,000 sq ft extreme sports arena, 300,000 sq ft food & entertainment centre, 1.75 million sq ft hotel & service suites, 420,000 sq ft Berjaya Group corporate offices and other mega figures that boggle the mind.

The main building comprises 17 levels of shopping mall (LG, G, Level 1 to 10), food and entertainment centre (Level 1 to 4), theme park (Level 5 to 9), and the corporate offices (Level 11 to 13).

Two 47-storey towers flank either side of the main block. The hotel tower faces Jalan Pudu while the service suites faces the lower section of Jalan Imbi (level 14 to 45). The drop off area is as big as a boulevard with 80ft-high ceiling. The huge front pillars had its granite chip panels cast in Johor Baru.

The shopping mall will have 12 retail anchors, 800 individual shops, and a 50,000 sq ft auto mart. The two-level, 300,000 sq ft of Food & Entertainment Centre will have 50 outlets for cafes, bistros, fine dining restaurants and fast food stations. There will also be an eight-screen cinema, a 300-seat theatre for concerts, plays and other performing arts and a physical fitness studio.

A monorail station with direct access into the building was recently completed. There will also be two car parks for 4,500 vehicles and parking for up to 20 passenger coaches. The only “sore thumb” is the old Pudu Jail next door which some quarters suggested should be demolished and the land temporarily used as an open car park for the mall.

Berjaya Times Square will have four thrill rides: the 800-metre long Roller Coaster, 30-metre high Spinning Star, the Twin Hammer, and the Super Look On Top.

The roller coaster has a steep eight-storey climb from level 5 to level 13 before plunging into a snaky trail. It promises to be one heck of a thrill ride.

There will be a 56-lane bowling alley (with eight lanes set aside for private parties) and a 10,000 sq ft billiards and pool club. In the “retail-tainment” zone are 28 entertainment-based specialty shops.

The children’s area will have a variety of 10 family and children’s rides together with a “Kidz Town” providing facilities for shows, parties and schools for developing talents in the field of computer, creative arts, dance and music.

There is a unique merry-go-round (carousel). Instead of the usual horses, children will be riding on all sorts of creatures. A small metal pirate ship is also in place.

If you think covering the entire MidValley Megamall is an effort, well, Berjaya Times Square can be even more challenging on your legs: 7.2km to walk around! ;)

I would attend the opening ceremony Monday if I were you! :D

Anyway I think the reason you see people walking in and out is because the contractors are now rushing for the interior renovation of the shops for the opening next Monday.

7-Eleven opened already?!?! That was fast!........I was there last week (when I took the pictures) and 7-Eleven still not started renovation yet!

Anyway the 7-Eleven could be the contributor of the people you see walking around as well......But the store is 'outside' the mall.....kinda inside also lar but they have doors to both outside and in the mall (like Starbucks at Sunway Pyramid/KL Plaza)..... ;)

BTW, there are 2 Starbucks at Berjaya Times Sq.....one at the entrance (next to 7-Eleven)....and another visible in this picture ::>

Mammoth mall set to open on Monday

By BAVANI M

IT IS finally happening! After eight long years of expectation and anticipation, come Monday KL-ites, shoppers and thrill-seekers can finally get to enter, explore and enjoy Asia's largest shopping mall. BAVANI M, who was offered a sneak preview of the complex, reports.

AS THE date of the grand opening of Berjaya Times Square, also known as the “mother of all malls,” draws nearer, work to prepare the complex for its grand opening is intensified to ensure everything is in order.

Over 200 workers were seen adding the final touches and sprucing up over 7,000,000 sq ft of space which houses the shopping mall, retail space, a food and entertainment centre, indoor theme park, extreme sports arena and other sections.

http://metro.thestar.com.my/news/2003/9/p2Harminder.jpg
Harminder Singh beckoning the public to visit the 'mother of all malls' which will offer food, shopping and a range of high-tech entertainment.

Apart from the cleaners, technicians, engineers and security personnel were spotted scrambling all over the place.

“We have been working round-the-clock to ensure everything went on smoothly. Personally, it has been the biggest challenge I have ever embarked on,” said Berjaya Times Square senior general manager Harminder Singh Bagrian.

“Things have been moving fast for the last 18 months but it only started getting really hectic from April onwards,” he added.

Harminder said they had started recruiting workers since early January and over 800 staff were hired.

“There are over 300,000 sq ft of office space available and about 75% have been tenanted,” he said, adding that he was confident that they would achieve 100% target in less than a year.

Promotional activities are being lined up for the grand opening, which will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Monday.

“There will be a series of events happening here for the next seven days after the launch and we are fully booked for private functions right up to December,” Harminder Singh said, adding that the complex was also the official venue for the upcoming inaugural Malaysian-International Fashion Awards (Mifa).

http://metro.thestar.com.my/news/2003/9/p2roller.jpg
This 800m-long roller coaster is among the theme park's attractions.

The hotel will be opening at the end of the month while British department store Debenhams will open in mid-November.

Other major attractions like IMAX 3D theatres and cinemas will be launched early next year.

The good news is the mall's main attraction, the 380,000 sq ft indoor theme park costing RM180mil, which is touted to be the second largest indoor theme party in the world, is ready for business on Monday, along with the retail and food and entertainment centre.

The theme park features state-of-the-art rides such as the multiple-inverted 800m-long indoor roller coaster, while the Spinning Star takes riders soaring to a height of 30m while giving them a triple motion sensation. The Twin Hammer is a huge pendulum frame that swings back and forth until it makes a full 360-degree turn.

The Children and Family Park located on the seventh floor is a gigantic fantasy garden with giant vegetables and vines and towering plants and fruits.

The complex has two car parks capable of accommodating 4,500 vehicles and Harminder Singh assures that maintaining safety and security is their top priority.

“Our policy is to never compromise on the safety and security of our customers which is why our entire basement car park and the complex perimeter have been hooked up with CCTVs,” he said, adding that a police beat base has been set up in front of the mall.

Harminder Singh said his security team had been undergoing various training programmes including crisis management, CPR and safety training sessions to equip them to handle myriad situations.

Berjaya Times Square settles claims

BY JANE RITIKOS

BERJAYA Times Square will pay RM270mil in compensation to 400 purchasers of properties in the Times Square shopping, hotel and office complex in Kuala Lumpur for the four-year delay in completing the project.

Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan said the 100% full settlement of the claims would be made through the issue of shares in a company listed on the main board of the KLSE.

“We are working out a proposal to inject Berjaya Times Square into another listed company which will issue new shares to take over Berjaya Times Square, and at the same time issue shares to take care of our liabilities. One of our liabilities is the late delivery claims, which are substantial at RM270mil,” he said, adding that the amount was as agreed under the sale and purchase agreement signed with purchasers before 1999.

Construction of the country's biggest commercial complex after the Petronas Twin Towers began in 1995 and was to have been completed in 1999. However, completion was delayed until June this year due to the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s.

Tan said that with the acquisition, Berjaya Times Square would become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed company. Details of the deal would be announced in two to three weeks.

“The buyers can sell the shares if they want cash. We think this is a win-win situation and the best proposal,” he told reporters after the opening of Times Square by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday.

Tan said he believed the purchasers would be happy to accept the deal and those the company met informally had generally responded well to the proposal.

“Their investments have appreciated, some as much as doubled, and on top of that they will get this compensation ... so they are happy. Only those who are unreasonable will not agree, but we have been reasonable,” he said when asked if the purchasers were agreeable to the deal.

Tan said the company had difficulties honouring the late delivery claim as it owed RM700mil to the banks for the project.

To pay off the debts, the company planned to issue ringgit bonds, this was expected to be completed by next year, he said.

Tan, who owns between 85% and 90% of Berjaya Times Square, said that with the acquisition, he hoped to own at least a 50% stake in the listed company.

“It is not like I will recoup, sell off and run away. I am still committed, I will continue to invest in the project and hope to be involved for a long, long time to see to its success,” he said.

Apart from the retail and office space and hotel, the complex features a 380,000 sq ft indoor theme park, believed to be the second largest in the world.

It will also house Malaysia's first IMAX 3D theatre.

Berjaya Times Square is keeping 60% of the space. Of the 40% balance, two-thirds have been sold, fetching RM900mil.

Tan expects to find buyers for the remaining space within six months.

He said the company expected to earn RM25mil in sales and rental income for the year ending April 2004.

Tan said it was a personal challenge and goal for him to complete Times Square, whose cost had risen from RM1.5bil to RM1.85bil due to the delay.

“If I was not able to organise this, the project would be an abandoned project, a big, ugly structure in Kuala Lumpur, and purchasers would have lost their money,” he said.

“The Prime Minister was encouraging and he said we must make sure the project was completed.”

About 150 retail shops are currently open at the complex, which was originally to open on Oct 15.

Mahathir: There are plenty of jobs in various fields

BY JANE RITIKOS

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia does not lack in job opportunities as there is work for everyone in various fields, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Statistically speaking, there is zero unemployment in the country,” he said when launching the Berjaya Times Square mega complex at Jalan Imbi, which opened its doors to the public yesterday.

Dr Mahathir said the Square, which houses a shopping-cum-leisure complex as well as hotel and service suites, would contribute to the economy and offers more employment opportunities.

“A lot of people will be employed, including suppliers, who will benefit from its shopping and entertainment centre,” he said.

The RM1.8bil Berjaya Times Square, said to be the largest project undertaken in a single phase anywhere in the world, has over 1,000 retail shops, including anchor tenant Debenhams, the well-known British department store, as well as 100 cafes, restaurants, bistros and fast food stations and the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia.

The Prime Minister gets a tour of the Cosmo's World indoor theme park at Berjaya Times Square which he officially opened on Monday.
The total built-up area of the Square is 0.69 million square metres, with 12 levels of retail shops and 1,200 luxury service suites.

The idea to build the mega mall was conceived by Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd and Berjaya Group Bhd chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan and his brother Tan Sri Danny Tan.

The project started in 1995 but its completion was delayed from 1999 to June this year due to the 1997/98 financial crisis.

Dr Mahathir said he was happy the Square was finally completed after the four-year delay, adding that it would become another tourist attraction in the city.

This was important, he said, as tourism was a very big business and major foreign exchange earner for the country.

“This is another shopping complex for the people in Kuala Lumpur who have endless amounts of money to spend,” he joked.

He also noted that Malaysia’s first IMAX 3D Theatre, which would be opened early next year, was another attraction that would make the complex a crowd-puller.

To mark the opening, an array of entertainment fare, including musical and cultural performances, dance showcases and fashion will be held till Oct 5.

Culture, Arts and Tourism minister Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said his ministry hoped to work together with Berjaya Times Square to promote the complex, including through worldwide advertisements, as a major attraction in Kuala Lumpur.

Times Square ah... A bit of a letdown, in terms of shopping..

The tenants are pathetic little "ciku" shops... Something like those you get in Summit City USJ or Sungai Wang... Where are the big-name retailers similar to the ones in the Big Three (KLCC, MidValley, 1utama)?

However, the only bright spot so far is the Theme Park.. Much better than expected...

I noticed that Low Yat Plaza has some piles jutting out of its roof... Is there a tower block that is going to come up in the future?

It's prolly gotta do with Times Sq putting up for sale as much as 80% of its retail units instead of leasing them out. By selling, they lose control over the quality of the tenants and you get the works... shops selling anything from teeny-bopper accessories to keropok, crackers and belacan, all on the same floor :D I think KLCC's units can only be leased. Not sure about MidValley.

since u like skyscrapers, thing will be much easier. just stand by the window of a building everyday. one day, you'll find your fear of heights, gone!! AND, concentrate on looking at the view from the building, not looking down and thinking you'll fall.

try out lah, very effective:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

La...I thought what la. You know what. I bought an apartment in Ampang. 18 storey high. I choose the one in level 16. Think that will overcome my fear...looking down the balcony every single day when I move in later. :D

Btw, Debenhams in Times Square still haven't open yet. They say middle of November...don't think it will open then.

Yeah Debenham is supposed to open mid November, that would be in a few days. Unfortunately nobody there could confirm that.
If you go to the foodcourt, it's worth to check out the view from the window just behind Delifrance.

Business Times - 18 Nov 2003

KUALA LUMPUR
Debenhams debuts in Asia with M'sian store

BRITISH retailer Debenhams marked its debut in Asia with the launch yesterday of its first department store in Malaysia's largest shopping mall, and said it planned to expand to Indonesia, Thailand and China.

Spanning four floors in the newly-opened Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur's shopping district and bigger than its average store in Britain, it is Debenhams' 11th international store and among the biggest globally.

The Malaysian store is fully-owned by Berjaya which has a profit-sharing agreement with Debenhams, officials said.

Debenhams' international director Francis McAuley said Malaysia was chosen as the 'starting point' for its expansion in the region due to its growing middle-class market, its political stability and its partnership with Berjaya.

'The opening of this store in Kuala Lumpur is a giant stepping stone in our strategy to expand in Asia,' he told reporters. 'Asia is an important market for us and we are also looking at Indonesia, China as well as Thailand. Our intention is to open a store in Indonesia within the next 18 months.'

Debenhams operates 102 stores in Britain and Ireland, with its global outlets in the Middle East and Europe.

Berjaya Times Square has invested some RM30 million (S$13.6 million) in the Debenhams store, including RM10 million to purchase goods, said its senior general manager Harminder Singh Bagrian.

Mr McAuley said the Malaysian store, which targets families in the middle to upper-class segments, carried 10 new exclusive designer brands as well as smaller-size clothing and Asian-fit lingerie to appeal to local shoppers.

Mr Harminder said some three million people had visited Berjaya Times Square since its opening on Sept 29, and the opening of Debenhams, its anchor tenant, would pull in more crowds.

The mall, built at a cost of RM1.85 billion by tycoon Vincent Tan, features Asia's largest indoor theme park, Malaysia's first Imax 3D theatre and 1,200 service suites in its two 45-storey blocks. Some 300 shops have opened so far. - AFP

oh....which atrium? :D

This mall has got like about 6 atriums!!! :)

Although the latest count is like 300 shops opened (which could already filled up a decently-sized mall).....this giant has like got 1000 shoplots ....thus making it empty because it is less than 1/3 filled! :D

Matrix gets sale offer from Berjaya Times Square

BY KATHY FONG
THE owners of Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd (BTS), which own Kuala Lumpur's latest shopping cum leisure mall, intend to sell their entire stake to Matrix International Bhd to settle a RM266.7mil debt due to purchasers as a result of late delivery.

Matrix said in a statement it had received letters of offer from BTS' shareholders – including Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun and Bakat Rampai Snd Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of Dijaya Corp Bhd – to sell all the 320.6 million shares in BTS for RM993.9mil or RM3.10 per share.

The consideration will be settled by the issue of 709.9 million new Matrix shares at RM1.40 per share.

In addition, Matrix would settle, on behalf of BTS, the RM266.7mil late delivery damages due through the issue of new Matrix shares worth RM1.40 per share to the tune of RM190.5mil, the statement said.

Hence, Matrix is paying RM1.261bil in total for BTS.

The value of the deal is even higher than the RM1.025bil being put up by IGB Corp Bhd for Mid Valley City Sdn Bhd in a backdoor listing exercise.

Matrix said the purchase consideration took into account BTS' adjusted net tangible assets (NTA) of RM1.485bil, which was derived from its audited NTA of RM39.4mil as at Dec 31 last year and unaudited net profit of RM30.15mil up to July 31.

Matrix said the proposed acquisition would allow it to diversify its earnings base from sole dependence on the numbers forecast business to a more stable and constant income stream from property investment.

BTS incurred net losses of RM84.9mil and RM16.8mil for the financial years ended Dec 31, 2002 and 2001, respectively. This translates into losses per share of 63 sen in 2002 and 12 sen 2001.

According to Matrix, BTS has achieved 80% tenancy level for its retail and commercial complex lots.

In a separate statement, Dijaya Corp said upon completion of the proposal, Tan's equity interest in Matrix would raise to 58.8% from 1.69%.

This would trigger a mandatory general offer to buy the remaining Matrix shares not already held by him.

However, Dijaya said its subsidiary Bakat Rampai shall not be a party acting in concert with Tan in respect of the proposed exercise, unless the Securities Commission or other relevant authorities deem or consider Bakat Rampai as such.

Dijaya Corp said Bakat Rampai shall not accept the offer should Tan be required to extend an MGO for its block of shares in Matrix.

Bakat Rampai holds 11.25% stake in BTS.

Dijaya Corp said Bakat Rampai would receive 79.89 million Matrix shares as settlement for its BTS stake.

Been to Debenhams yesterday. Have to agree with you that the section look quite plain and a bit empty. Again, probably because of the size and the arrangement of the department store. Telco operators share RM8m in-door common antenna system

Source ~ New Straits Times - Business Times

Dec 3, MALAYSIA’S three cellular phone operators — Celcom (M) Bhd, Maxis Communications Bhd and DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd — have teamed up to share a RM8 million indoor common antenna system (CAS).

The system, shared for the first time at the Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, offers visitors uninterrupted and high quality coverage at difficult to reach places and other blind spots such as at basement car parks and inside elevators.

Maxis chief executive officer Datuk Jamaludin Ibrahim said the three operators hoped to later work together again to extend the system to other buildings nationwide.

“By sharing the CAS, each operator will be able to save between 40 per cent and 50 per cent in annual capital expenditure spent on installing indoor multiband antennas and other related infrastructure,” Jamaluddin told reporters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Jamaludin, DiGi chief operating officer Tore Johnsen and Celcom group chief executive officer Datuk Ramli Abbas represented their companies at the handing-over ceremony of the CAS system from its contractor, ENC Sdn Bhd, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The event was witnessed by both Energy, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Amar Leo Moggie and ENC chairman Datuk Abdullah Yusof.

It is the single largest CAS project in the country which involves a hybrid of active and passive systems using fiber optic cables and wideband components.

The system is also designed to cater to the future third-generation or 3G networks with high data and video services involving more than 1,300 multiband antennas installed within the shopping complex, hotel and convention centre.

More than 13km of fibre optic cables were used in the project as well as over 60km of telephone and coaxial cables throughout the 7 million sq ft complex.

The CAS project is in line with the Government’s plan for the telcos to share infrastructure, including base transceiver stations, roof top structures, inter operator short message service (SMS) and the content provider access platform.

Meanwhile, ENC Sdn Bhd executive director Abdul Hafidz Win said the company currently has a total of RM25 million worth of similar projects in hand.

“We are carrying out the CAS project at the new wings of both the Mid Valley Megamall as well as the One Utama shopping complex, valued at a combined RM15 million, while the remaining RM10 million is for two office buildings.”

ENC has completed more than 100 similar projects in Malaysia which include the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and several hotels, office complexes and campuses.

Abdul Hafidz said about 80 per cent of the Kuala Lumpur-based company’s earnings are derived from installing in-door multiband antennas.

Earlier in his speech, Leo Moggie said he hoped the system could be extended out-doors on rooftops and communication towers from shopping complexes.

In urban areas, most mobile usage is within buildings, especially office towers during weekdays and shopping complexes during weekends and public holidays.

Mobile communication service providers have worked together in the past. In 1997, the first infrastructure sharing project was initiated and in March 1999, customer data bases were shared to curb bad debts.

Established 17 years ago, unlisted ENC is a leading system integration and telecommunication engineering service company in Malaysia.

It provides full turnkey services ranging from design, project management, testing, installation, commissioning to system support and maintenance services of the CAS to customers.

Malaysia currently has 10.5 million mobile phones users, or 41.3 per cent, cellular penetration, of which 75 per cent are pre-paid users.
