Great Great Great project .

IMO this whole project is fantastic and if the rumours coming along this forum ar true that this "atrium city" towers designed by Adrian Smith will have their home in this project wuuuhhh OMG! BUT the islands around BAA shown in the video above are a bit too much. The BAA should stand as an isolated icon on its island.

this is going to be too much...the present dubai will really disapear in all this construction. Where will al these people come from?

The local System Construct has started work on a sales centre for local developer Sama Dubai opposite the Madinat Jumeirah.

The sales centre is located close to Sama Dubai's Jumeirah Hills project, which will be built on the site of the existing Police Academy next to interchange 4 on Sheikh Zayed road.

A new Police Academy campus is planned for the Academic City area.
The local La Casa is the consultant for the sales centre.

Sama Dubai recently opened a sales centre in Dubai Health Care City for its Lagoons development in the Ras al-Khor area of Dubai.

The 7 million-square-metre Lagoons project will have seven islands, comprising residential units, commercial towers, five-star hotels and shopping malls. Cultural elements will include an opera house, a planetarium, a museum, an art centre and a theatre (MEED 22:6:08).

Construction work is due to start on Sama Dubai's Jumeirah Hills development in early 2009, after three groups submitted bids by 22 October for the first construction package on the scheme.

The bidders are Al-Shafar Transport & Contracting Company, ETA Ascon, both local, and Hong Kong-based CSHK with the local Engineering Contracting Company.

The package involves the construction of a basement and podium covering 60,000 square metres, with a built-up area of about 350,000 sq m. The structure will be mainly used for car park spaces, with some retail and commercial space in the podium. Low-rise residential towers will be built on top of the podium at a later date.

The Jumeirah Hills development will be built on the site of the existing Police Academy next to interchange 4 on Sheikh Zayed road.

A planned extension to Dubai Creek will pass through the development, before exiting into the Gulf close to the Madinat Jumeirah in Al-Sufouh.

The local System Construct recently began work on a sales centre opposite the site.

The consultant for the sales centre and phase one of construction will be the local La Casa.

Sama Dubai is also planning another major development in the area. It is inviting contractors to express interest in the dredging works on its Falcon island project, close to the Burj al-Arab hotel.

The island, which will look like a falcon when viewed from above, is expected to be a residential and tourism-based development.

Yes correct, it is on the opposite side of the road, and Jumeirah Hills will be on both sides of the road.

... most of the project falls on the Dubai Police Academy site.

I dont think it is on hold, well thats debatable, I see one or 2 workers at the sales centre daily, and work is progressing EXTREMELY slow, steel frame is done, and now they are putting the external wall up.. but slowly... very slowly

Workers abandoned the constructionsite of the sales office months ago... no work, no activity, no nothing.

Went passed last week and saw that worked had been done, as well as a few workers. Today I saw scaffolding errected, and about 5 workers.

very good news :) I was under the impression that this project was 100% dead.

Good progress, front of building mostly now themed, painted and some windows now in. However, no rear wall, or roof. I think this work is being done just to tidy it up as it's adjecent to the Burj.

Lets hope its something more than that :)

^^ I think that's some sort of retail strip. Altin is right... most of the project is supposed to be on the Dubai Police Academy land........

the building in the pics above has been completed for some time now, it is not being used for anything at the moment.
