Guys, try nyo roam inside Robinsons Supermarket. We are so lucky to have Robinsons with us. For instance, we dont need to actually go and visit bulacan just to buy what they have there as their specialty. Try nyo lang and im sure marerealize ninyo at mag eenjoy talaga kayo sa mga nabili ninyo. and dont think of the price differences cause actually hindi naman ganun kalaki ang margin ng price difference compared to the other major mall eh, sa totoo lang talaga. I may say, Robinsons offer more value than giving fair and square...and hey, Im not being paid by Robinsons, ok. hehehe Let us all support the investors and friends we have here in our beloved GenSan. they are here to uplift us and make our everyday life more beautiful and bright. Magandang Gensan! :)

Tapos na ang ROB - Place, next ang ROBINSONS HOMES in Barangay Labangal then they will build their GoHotel in 2013...
And now, merong mysterious construction at the back of the Mall... ano kaya yun?

GenSan is in dire need of descent hotels more than any other cities nearby. Talagang nagkakaroon ngayon dito sa city natin ng scarcity of bedrooms for visitors and guests.

earlat May 5th, 2011, 03:50 AM Nice man ang Robinsons as an alternative...
KCC being a typical mall, Gaisano with boxy atmosphere... and unsa kayha ang SM..
I don't think SM would experience what ROB is "experiencing" right now...
Alam naman natin na SM is "PANG MASA" catering to and transcending all classes of people and not to mention its strategic location....
Once finished, SM is the most accessible mall in GENSAN... What I mean is sa karamihan ng mga barangays, dadaan ka muna talaga ng SM before other malls.
Moreover, considering this SM will become the largest mall in the region, we can surmise it has more goods and services to offer compared to other malls....
ROB, KCC and GAISANO are doing their very best to be at par with SM.... :)

^^
Or probably for mall expansion? I heard RP Tacloban is expanding less than 2 years after its opening. RP GenSan probably felt the need to expand after its formidable rival, SM, has finally set foot on GenSan.
It is also possible ROB is up to their mall expansion right now... Personally, mas gusto ko magexpand ang mall ngayon rather than putting up a convention center, condo, para mas maraming spaces for tenants, department stores and other amenities.... (PARA DUMAMI NAMAN ANG TAO SA MALL NILA)
ang GoHotel darating din yan god - willing....

Fahdingding May 6th, 2011, 03:18 AM Aquino to push for Philippine-Eaga agenda
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III and key Philippine-Eaga officials will head off for Jakarta, Indonesia on May 6 to push for the Philippine-Eaga initiative in the 7th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-Eaga) Summit.
The 7th BIMP-EAaga Summit will be held on May 8 as part of the 18th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit related meetings being held from May 4-8 at the Jakarta Convention Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia.
President Aquino will meet his Eaga counterparts, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, President Susilo Bambang Yudyohono of Indonesia, and Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak of Malaysia.
This year's Eaga Summit will highlight issues about improving interconnectivity within the sub-region in line with the Master Plan on Asean Connectivity.
In the meeting, the Philippines will push for further connectivity in the sub-region through the establishment of roll-on, roll off (Roro) transportation system.
The development of Roro terminal system has been identified as a key strategy to expand more trade and reduce the cost of inter-island transportation across the subregion.
At present, there are already six potential Roro routes identified for BIMP-Eaga, particularly connecting Mindanao and its neighboring areas in the subregion.
These are the Zamboanga-Sandakan (Sabah), Zamboanga-Kota Kinabalu (Sabah), Zamboanga-Muara (Brunei), Glan, Sarangani-Tahuna or Bitung (Indonesia), Brooke's Point (Palawan)-Kudat (Sabah), and Gensan-Muara (Brunei) routes.
The Eaga leaders are also expected to provide key directives on fast-tracking the implementation of priority infrastructure projects in the subregion, particularly in the areas of transport, energy, trade facilitation and information communication technology (ICT).
The meeting is also expected to come up with key directives on ensuring food security, promoting eco-tourism, developing strategies for conservation and sustainable management of Eaga's natural resource and biodiversity.
Strengthening the BIMP-Eaga Business Council will also be discussed in recognition of the private sector's critical role in accelerating the growth of the subregion.
"President Aquino takes cognizance of BIMP-Eaga as a key strategy towards a more integrated economy that generates business opportunities for growth," Antonino said.
She said this year's summit will be an opportunity for the four member countries to take stock of what has been achieved so far and pursue more strategic and concrete programs and projects that would ensure the attainment of development goals and targets set forth in the Eaga roadmap.
Aquino will be joined by the rest of the Philippine delegation which includes Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto del Rosario, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, Agriculture Secretary Prospero Alcala, Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim, and Secretary Luwalhati Antonino, chairperson of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Philippine Signing Minister for BIMP-Eaga.
Also joining are Trade Undersecretary and Philippine Senior Official for Eaga Merly M. Cruz, House Eaga Affairs Committee Chair Cong. Ma. Rachel J. Arenas, Confed chair Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario and Agerico Banzon, President of Palawan Economic Development Council representing the private sector.
The BIMP-Eaga Leaders Summit is a gathering of the sub-region's four Heads of State to renew commitment and further deepen cooperation among the member countries in various areas.
It is also a venue for Eaga leaders to discuss and exchange views on various sub-regional issues of mutual concern.
Created in 1994, BIMP-Eaga is a four-country grouping collectively pursuing sub-regional economic growth. With an estimated 50 million people spread out across 1.5 million square kilometers of land in four countries, the BIMP-Eaga is Asia's largest sub-regional cooperation.
After suffering a backlash from the 1997 financial crisis,
BIMP-Eaga has been gearing towards broadening economic links not just within but also beyond the sub-region, particularly in the external markets of Asean. (MinDA)

Pero the advantage of having these malls in one area or near each other is.. When you are bored with the first mall, then go to the nearby mall.. So mag Mall hopping ka.. :D
Eat ka ug lunch sa Robinsons then watch a movie there.. Tapos have some shopping at KCC, tapos lakaw2 sa Gaisano then go to SM for dinner.. hehehe

That is why earl, I reiterate the importance of fixing our sidewalks. I strongly suggest nga na lagyan ng elevated sidewalk ang apat na mga malls na ito directly connecting each other. like the case of greenbelt in makati...in this way, ang mga pedestrian ay hindi nakakaabala sa vehicular traffic sa ibaba at safe pa ang mga pedestrian. Ganto rin ang case sa HongKong.

Good idea... Sana nga... Pero developing kasi ung area natin ngayon. Marami pang improvements to come... Pero sa buong Pilipinas, Gensan pa din ang city na may pinaka mababang standard of living na merong SM and Robinsons...

I beg to disagree. Daghang areas in Luzon that host SM na unknown and less developed than Gensan. To name a few, SM San Pablo, SM Calamba, SM Lucena (all in Laguna, SM Naga (CamSur) and SM Rosario (Pangasinan). If you talk of standard of living, I think these areas have lower standard of living than Gensan.

Hello SG (Southern General), your idea is good but I think for now, there is this issue of economics and practicality. Although all 4 malls are near each other, it is not as near to connect them through elevated sidewalks. Imagine KCC mall and Rob being connected, which is more than 500 meters. Cost would be staggering. The fact that these malls are owned by 4 different companies, who will then now shoulder the cost of interconnection. Good for Greenbelt kasi it is owned by one company-the Ayala. SM North put up their own elevated bridge going to Trinoma for example, because they wanted and convince other people to go to SM North instead of Trinoma.
Right now, the cost is more than the benefit and profit.
In the Philippines kasi, especially big cities, Gensan included, road management only speaks of vehicle safety and order nakalimutan na ang tao na dapat isa sa pinaka primary consideration on planning traffic management and safety.

It's OK... the QUALITY (of rooms) can compensate with the lack of QUANTITY...
SouthernGeneral May 8th, 2011, 02:11 PM hmm standard of living - mura ang food, mura ang transpo etc... unlike other places. More like parang yung gastos vs yung income per month...
Its called the cost of living.

Fahdingding May 9th, 2011, 04:08 AM CITY ALLOCATES P4.5-M FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITIONAL LANES AT QUIRINO AVENUE
Additional lanes at Quirino avenue will soon be constructed with P4.5-Million allocated by the city government for this project.
This development is expected to further hasten business activities along this street where business establishments have tremendously grew the past years.
This will also bring in more investments in this area where schools, pension houses, medical clinics, resto bars, and other businesses are currently located.
Now considered as a commercial area, Quirino avenue connects equally important Magsaysay avenue, South Osmena street and Laurel East.
Resolution No. 127,series of 2011, which recommends the approval of the plans and specifications of this proposed project has already been approved by the city council recently. (CPIO/ping aponesto)

Ohw...I miss Kimball Plaza...sigh:(

by Robbie Pangilinan
MANNY Pacquiao, a millionaire many times over, has gotten so wealthy he now wants to live in an enclave traditionally reserved for the old rich.
Janet Jamora, twin sister of Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee, said Pacquiao is thinking of buying a house in Forbes Park in Makati. The house is reportedly worth P300 million.
Jamora added that the Pacquiaos will buy the house as soon as Manny gets his prize money from the fight with Shane Mosley, who the Filipino ring icon destroyed Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, to retain his World Boxing Organization welterweight belt.
The Pacquiaos also own a $2.3 million, Spanish-inspired, two-story, four-bedroom home in the upscale neighborhood of Hancock Park in Los Angeles, California which they bought last March, 2008.
The pound-for-pound king is also planning to build a mall, to be christened MP Mall, in General Santos City, a multi-million project which will not only employ hundreds of people from its construction to its operation, but is also expected to earn more profit to the new power couple.
But despite plans of acquiring new properties and living a luxurious lifestyle, Pacquiao has never forgotten his mission of reaching out to his countrymen, especially the poor and the needy.
Pacquiao, in fact, has several philanthropic projects lined up. As an active congressman representing Sarangani, Pacquiao wants to build one hospital for each town of his province. The Aquino administration has already helped Pacquiao jumpstart this project by alloting P200 million for the construction of a provincial hospital at the Sarangani capital town of Alabel. The Filipino boxing icon also promised to get the medical equipment for the hospital.
Pacquiao also recently asked the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office to donate eight ambulances for Sarangani in exchange for his endorsement of the PCSO.
The People’s Champ will also lend his support to the inmates at the Muntinlupa prison in a project with Rod Cornejo and the executives of the broadcast network GMA, where Pacquiao is a contractual talent.
The Pacman has been using his own money to help his countrymen. He invests a big chunk of his boxing earnings to build classrooms, hospitals and to help the poor.
“I believe our mission in this world is not only to make money... if you get the blessing from God, we are to give some to your people, especially the poor people,” said Pacquiao.

SMI also putting up 500-megawatt coal plant (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/local-news/2011/05/17/smi-also-putting-500-megawatt-coal-plant-155893)
By Jereco O. Paloma

A MULTINATIONAL mining company is also putting up a 500-megawatt (MW) coal fired power plant in Malalag, Davao del Sur.
The company plans to start the construction by 2012. The power plant estimated to cost P25.3-billion is the biggest investment in the country next to Petron's Malampayan oil project in Palawan, the communications manager of Sagittarius Mining Incorporated (SMI) said.
John Arnaldo, SMI communications manager, said the power plant is meant to support the 400 megawatts power needs of SMI. The coal-fired plant, which can produce up to 500 MW, will be built in a 9,600-hectare area in Malalag, Davao del Sur.
"We are trying to protect the interest and heritage of B'laan in Malalag," Arnaldo added.
B'laans are among the tribal groups that reside in areas where the power plant is set to be constructed.
Arnaldo said SMI is still in the process of securing government permits and consulting with different project stakeholders.
It can be recalled that until now, AboitizPower Corporation is awaiting the Davao City Council's approval of its proposed P25 million 300 MW coal-fired power plant in the boundaries of Barangay Binugao, Toril and Barangay Inawayan in Sat. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Socsksargen needs to have either mid-evening or late night flights from GES to MNL. These flights offer lower fares. I hope Zest Air could look into this need in order for the average market of travelers and the returning OFWs arriving in MNL in the afternoon could be served well with the link.

Zest Air targets 3 million passengers, P6-B sales
BUDGET CARRIER Zest Airways, Inc. (Zest Air) aims to fly three million passengers this year, a 144% increase from the number of passengers it carried last year.
ZEST AIRWAYS, Inc. plans to increase the number of passengers flown in a year by 144% in 2011, a ranking official yesterday said.
To achieve this, the firm said it is planning to buy more aircraft and add additional routes.
“This year, our target is [to carry] three million passengers. Last year we had 1.23 million passengers,” Alfredo M. Yao, president and chief executive officer, told reporters at a briefing yesterday.
“We are on track [on achieving this],” Mr. Yao said.
The airline will be adding four aircraft to its current fleet this year, Mr. Yao said. The four are to be delivered to the airline by the end of May, end of June, mid-August and in December.
Zest Air currently flies five Airbus A320s, which each seat a maximum of 180 passengers. It also operates one 144-seater Airbus A319, and four 60-seater Modern Ark 60s.
During the first quarter, the firm recorded a 30% increase in revenues, attributed to the additional airline that carried more passengers as opposed to year-ago levels, Reynaldo L. Rodriguez, senior vice-president for commercial and external affairs, told reporters at the sidelines of the briefing.
Last year, the airline only had three aircraft to its disposal during the first quarter.
The firm is targeting P6 billion in revenues this year, a 173% surge from the P2.2 billion it recorded in 2010, Mr. Rodriguez said.
“The growth will be driven by additional domestic and international routes amid the rising fuel costs,” Mr. Rodriguez said.
Eliseo M. Tabora, executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said during the same briefing that the firm has increased its domestic routes to 23 this year, from only 20 in the end of last year.
“Domestic routes... [now include] Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga and General Santos,” Mr. Tabora said.
For international routes, Mr. Tabora said that the firm has planned to fly the Beijing to Kalibo route starting June 26 and the Cebu to Shanghai route starting July 2, bringing the total of the airline’s international routes to six.
Mr. Rodriguez added that the airline is crafting a refleeting program that will end in 2015.
“We are planning to add around two to three aircraft each year starting in 2012. If attained, we will have around 20 to 25 Airbus A320s by the end of 2015,” Mr. Rodriguez told reporters.
Mr. Rodriguez said that while some of the aircraft will be acquired, some will be leased from different sources.
“Regarding the funding, so far, it will be sourced internally for the aircraft that will be delivered this year, but for the whole program, we’re looking at borrowing from banks, local or foreign,” Mr. Rodriguez said.
In addition to its planned acquisitions and lease of aircraft, the firm is also planning to lease two Boeing 767 or 757s for its Bahrain and Middle East routes.
However, Mr. Rodriguez said the firm will wait for civil unrest to quiet down in the Middle East before pursuing the long-haul flights to both countries. -- KAM

1. PARTAS - Laoag - Manila - GSC route v.v
2. RURAL TRANSIT - Davao - Gensan v.v / Gensan - C.D.O v.v
God Willing madayon ning duha...
I have different opinion on this. It is good to have other bus companies plying Dvo-Gensan route pero, this would mean (might) killing existing companies. I will forever be loyal to Yellow Bus, not because they are homegrown company, but because of their excellent service. They are now one of SOCSKSARGEN's institution with regards to transportation. RTM plays dirty tricks in Iligan, Bukidnon, Zambo routes. You know what they did in these areas? They cut the fares to the extent na malugi ang ubang bus companies kay dili maka compete sa ilaha. Daghan na nangawala bus companies sa Mindanao because of Rural.
There is this bus company based in Iligan nga nag survive until now because the Iliganons were loyal to this homegrown bus company. They helped this company survived by taking this bus to Iligan-CDO. Bisag Rural drastically cut the fares to entice commuters to take Rural, wala nila na convince ang mga pasahero. It is good for the commuters if fares are cut pero naay tariff man gud that is being followed para dili sad malugi ang mga bus companies, pero ang Rural nag cut ug fares way below the tariff. This is their strategy to kill other bus companies.

fredrich85 May 24th, 2011, 05:37 PM Glad to know that Zest Air is eyeing for more Mindanato Destination. I've seen in their website that they are now selling CDO destination and even check that they do have scheduled flights on the said city as early as July 11, 2011. Please support Zest Air, for this Low Cost Carrier to earn more and compete with other Airline Co..

Yes naabotan ko pa 'to when I was still a student in MSU - Marawi. From P110 fare binaba nila ito to P40... I could still remember daot jud mga negosyo sa JEEP ug Super 5 bus company... But the upshot of this unorthodox or other might say "devious, below the belt" business strategy is yung modernization ng SUPER 5 BUSES to compete with Rural Buses...

Modernization is best counter action. Safety is the top most priority, second is comfort and ease, third is added services such as free wifi and other entertainment.

Sana idag-dag ng Rural Transit sa routes nila ang mga south-bound routes such as GenSan-Alabel-Malapatan-Glan v.v. and GenSan-Maasim-Kiamba-Maitum v.v. routes. Once these suggested routes are operational, it will further spur economic growth and tourism in these southern Sarangani towns.:)

This is really beneficial for SOCSKSARGEN area. And Zest Air planes are good ha, and comfortable. I've been travelling with Zest Air, kung mag uli ko sa Marbel from Manila. Aside sa comportable, barato pa jud. C***P*C is too crowded, sakit imong tuhod inig abot nimo sa imong padulungan:nuts::nuts::nuts:.

Last year pa nag start. Since they don't have school building in Marbel when they started, they used the available buidlings of the province sa Banga, they will move this school year sa bag-ong building sa Marbel. Naa na sad Oblation facing the highway...

IMHO, Koronadal is the best location for this (if ever) considering the fact that Marbel is the regional center of our region... Mas easily accessible sia from other provinces in the region... :)

I agree.. pero Gensan is in dire need of a good tertiary hospital right now.. as in.. because observe ko lang.. people from neighboring towns go to gensan for their healthcare.. even some people from marbel and tacurong, naga.punta sa gensan for their health needs.. so for me, kelangan tlga ng gensan ng magandang hospital, khit ndi na mag-conduct feasibility study.. kelangan jud :)

Nah! Sinabi mo pa... the 4 tertiary hospitals in our city are not enough to cater the needs of the people for medical attention...
Kaya, HOSPITALS in Gensan are profitable as a business..... nagkandaralata lang mga pasiente....
Calling ST. Luke's, UST Hospital and etc... Bisag asa pa nang location anang mga hospital dayuhon ra ghapon na sa mga tawo.... pero mas nindot naa pud hospital within the CALUMPANG, LABANGAL, TAMBLER area...
