naisip ko tuloy noon na parang pinlano talagang ubosin lahat ng shooping malls sa gensan na sunogin. and I remember that time, booming talaga ang Marbel with KCC and Fitmart malls. After those malls were gone, I remember myself going to marbel just to shop. hehe

Hope they (KCC) will always remember that Marbel and SouthCot people helped them reach the place where they are now. Because of the loyalty and patronage of the people nag umwad gid sila, so fitting gid that they have to give back by giving South Cot and Marbel a better place to shop.

biggest in terms of what????? population?????
Small population + Big income = happy people, beautiful place.
Sa tantya ko basing from the given datas of income-populatin ratio, lumalabas na pinaka mayaman ang Cagayan de Oro city sa lahat ng mga malalaking ciudad sa Mindanao.

Whatta?!? :eek2: Naungusan na ng GENSAN ang CDO?!? Is this a good news?!? :?
Small population + Big income = happy people, beautiful place.
Sa tantya ko basing from the given datas of income-populatin ratio, lumalabas na pinaka mayaman ang Cagayan de Oro city sa lahat ng mga malalaking ciudad sa Mindanao.
You're very right BRO! Agree! :)
Fahdingding November 18th, 2011, 01:41 AM ^^ or it may be that Gensan is more and more of becoming a Baby Factory.. kaya ang bilis lumaki ng populasyon..

THE franchise owner of Microtel Inn and Suites Davao, the Damosa Land Inc., will open a 66-room hotel in General Santos City by the last quarter of next year.
Microtel Davao general manager Rocky Jorolan said he will still handle the Microtel Gensan as this is within the Mindanao area.
Share your thoughts on Pacquiao-Marquez III
"Microtel Gensan is a done deal," Jorolan told Sun.Star Davao Friday.
Jorolan said he couldn't exactly say the investment for the Microtel Gensan except to reveal that construction stage will likely commence late of 2012.
Jorolan, meanwhile, said that Microtel Davao is doing good business in the city not only because of its high occupancy rate but also based on revenues.
To date, the 51-room Microtel Davao has an occupancy rate of 70 percent, and Jorolan attributed this to the kind of accommodation and service the hotel is offering to its customers.
Jorolan said their guests get satisfaction every time they stay in the hotel because of its service and friendly staff.
Aside from these attributes, Microtel Davao is best known for its cleanliness, convenience, safety, homey atmosphere, affordable rates and accessibility.
In fact, Microtel Davao received rave reviews from its clients who have experienced the service and hospitality of the hotel's crew.
"You will really feel at home in our hotel. Our personnel are hospitable and take care of the clients' needs," Jorolan said. "We love doing that because that's our profession."
Microtel Davao, located at the Damosa Gateway Complex along Mamay Road, was established in 2007 and quickly rose to become one of the finest hotels in Davao when it comes to accommodation and service. It enjoys high patronage of a mix of corporate and leisure travelers.
Last year, Microtel Davao bagged the "International Hotel of the Year" award and "Asia Pacific Hotel of the Year" honor during the Wyndham Hotel Group Global Comference held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gensan is very hot naman eversince. Some factors affect the temperature/weather of Gensan. Gensan's soil is of sandy to sandy loam type. Generals November 25th, 2011, 11:41 AM PHILIPPINE PROVINCE LAUNCHES WEB PORTAL FOR LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES
By Clarice Africa | 24 November 2011
In a bid to serve citizens more effectively, the legislative department of the provincial government of General Santos city has launched a new website where all the information on legislative activities, legislations and issuances such as resolutions and ordinances can be easily accessed by the public.
General Santos city is a highly urbanised first class city located in the southernmost port city of the Philippines.
According to Vice Mayor Shirlyn Banas-Nograles, the website is important not only to the Provincial Council but also to the general public as well. The website features informative data like the directory of offices and employees, barangay profiles, and the schedules of committee hearings Added features include a web search box and the real-time weather reports.
Nograles also noted that “this website now becomes one of the main legacies of the 16th Provincial Council to the people of General Santos city.”
The Vice Mayor also initiated the GenSan Codification of Ordinances Project wherein over 2,000 ordinances created from 1948 to 2010 are being reviewed and classified for easy reference.
The website, however, according to Banas is still undergoing enhancement especially on pages that will contain the profiles of the City Councilors from 1948 to present.

True indeed, Tiwi tunas are not the same as the GenSan tunas. though they are both tunas but of different species. GenSan tunas are HUGE...as big as a medium-size swine...or as big as an average human being.:) Gensans tunas are of sashimi-grade.

Nice pictures Botching!:cheers::cheers:!!! The highway above is the Alunan Ave. Along this avenue you can visit and see the Protech Center, the Provincial Capitol, DPWH Provincial and Regional Office, the Notre Dame of Marbel University, Notre Dame of Sienna (?) College, SMRRA Sports Center, SouthCot Gym and Cultural Center, St Anthony de Padua (?) Church. The avenue is more than a kilometer long which connects the national highway going up to the upper valley area and crossing General Santos Drive (the round ball at the junction) going to the Public Market. The avanue is also connected to the provincial road leading to Lutayan and Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.
Ramona Plaza I think is one of the properties of Fitmart (if I'm not mistaken).

Guys allow me to share my thoughts for GenSan city. I just hope that our city officials are also lurking in this thread for them to know the endless potentials of our Magandang GenSan.
The current location of our city public market is very prime and perfect location for a mix-use project like a supermall, 5 star hotel, a convention centre and high-end condominiums. Perhaps the Ayalas can see the potential of this place. If you put a high-rise 5-star hotel in the present area of the city public market (building with green roofing), it will give a very scenic 360 degree view of srangani bay, mount matutum and the whole gensan city as well. you can just imagine how awesome the view is at the top during sunset, sunrise and even at night time...whew! just perfect! isnt it? each rooms will have a very scenic view. very nice to market not just locally but globally.
This could be a very interesting and promising Public-Private Partnership Project (PPP) in the future if the city governent will sell or lease the public market lot to the Ayalas (or to any investor for that matter) to build a mega mix-use project, then part of the money earned from the selling or lease should be used for the major development of the queen tuna park into a world class tourist destination of gensan and the rest of the money be used for the construction of the new public market in Labangal.
I just hope that our current city public market will be moved to Labangal area (near silway bridge and near the sea also). this time, the city govt should build a decent well-ventilated public market that is eco-friendly as well. equipped with all the necessary waste water treatment facilities and efficient solid waste disposal system.

Is it possible to have sisterhood pacts between city and municipality? If not, brotherhood nalang :lol: (corny!!!:bash:). But there is possibility of economic cooperation between the 2 LGUs since they have one common dinominator-tuna. With this economic cooperation, Tiwi could really generate technical support and assistance from Gensan to further their industry. That is a very good vision for Magandang GenSan. In the future, given the proper urban planning coupled with the people's support to the industries in GenSan, hindi malayo na mangyari yan.
However, to attain that, I believe that GenSan first has to address the issues glaring at her right now. First, the city's drainage system. I've been staying in GenSan for a year now and as far as I have observed, the city lacks a proper drainage system which could really pose a big threat to industries in the future. I'm sure we all observe that from time to time, some of the city streets are flooded though there is little or no rain at all.
Its a good thing that GenSan area is typhoon free but in the future, who knows? its a good thing that SM constructed the drainage canal along their site in Santiago Blvd.
Secondly, the government should really improve the infrastrucutre of GenSan. Very notable are the unpaved roads inside the city thus making GenSan a dusty place. I'm sorry but I really feel like I'm in a barrio the moment I veer away from the national highway. GenSan also has somewhat given the term "subdivision" a different concept.
Thirdly, there really is a need to improve the public transportation in GenSan as a means of adressing the impact of rapid urbanization. GenSan is swarmed by tricycles still and public jeepneys are relatively few. It would be hard for visitors to get around the city in relative comfort. To make matters worst, these tricycles aren't even supposed to be allowed to travel along national highway as is indicated in their sidecars. Also, these tricycles don't have the tariff system so getting around in a tricycle requires bargaining. " Asa ka sir? Sa Toyota nong..Pila hatag nimo?" was one experience. Going to and from the airport also is a little bit of a hassle despite taxis and other forms of public transport.
These three for me are the areas which should be addressed as soon as possible for a better GenSan.
GenSan, as other cities have its unique qualities that will help her pave the way to her progress. Investors will come if they can see that various considerations in their investment plans are being satisfied by the prospect city. As citizens envisioning a progressive and liveable GenSan it is notable that you deliver the messages to the public servants.
Just an observation from an outsider living in Magandang GenSan.

Generals November 28th, 2011, 02:33 AM That is a very good vision for Magandang GenSan.
Very good, and I must agree with your keen observations sir. But, let's consider the fact that Gensan still has a long way to go. Unlike other HUC, Gensan is far way younger.. and I believe she's taking her time to improve through the course of time.
-About the drainage system, I think our LGU is notably taking full considerations about it.. a perfect example would their bargain for tax incentives to SM, for them to construct drainage canal along Santiago Blvd. and with that, it implies that they are not taking it for granted.. knowingly the
disaster it may cause.. as what happens in our "neighbors".
-Infrastructure in Gensan, I hate to agree with you in this matter, but as what I have said, the city has still a long way to go... I believe those unpaved roads will be pave momentarily as the city's rapid urbanization is concern. And I would somehow foretell as the time goes by, these "deserted" areas in Gensan would partake in the rapid urbanization that is taking place currently in the city. Maybe Industrial centers, CBD, Subdivisions(high-end) etc... GenSan also has somewhat given the term "subdivision" a different concept. Can't hit my mark here? what do you mean?
-Public Transportation, As a resident of the city, this is the issue most of us want to address the most. Trikes are really in great number lurking in the city... and even in the National Highway. :omg: I would love to see the city full of Taxi's or Jeeps rather than Trikes... However, I believe it is a long term process.. to change the transportation mode in the city. "Nakakaawa naman kasing tanggalan ng pang hanapbuhay ang mga tricycle drivers, ang dami pa naman." also with the Habal-habal drivers. Pero I still believe, as the city is getting old and old and old... more CBD extending up to Calumpang to Fatima to Labangal to Apopong to Tambler.. Taxi operators/company would definitely take it to considerations on bringing their taxi's in the city. But, still strikes should not be ban, sa mga kalye-kalye lang sila. :okay:
We think about Global Gensan.. we think about Global fame.. but I believe Global starts with her people.. we the Generals. :nocrook:

:) I agree with you. As someone living in your city, I also want to see my foster home in good condition and liveable for I believe that due to the nature of my work, I would be staying here for quite some time. It is good to observe that the local government is pushing the development of GenSan. As I've said, GenSan has unique qualities which, along with a holistic vision and cumulative support of its people, will propel its progress.
The people should urge the government to be more agressive in implementing its various development plans. City ordinances should also be strictly implemented because these are aimed at making the city organized. I believe the Generals are up to the task.
Good luck and more power generals.
GenSan also has somewhat given the term "subdivision" a different concept. Can't hit my mark here? what do you mean?
It relates to my previous statement that there are still a lot of unpaved roads within the city. As we can observe, majority of "subdivisions" in Gensan (except the new ones) still have rough roads. :):)

Guys, take for example the City Heights Subd. Notice the village does not even have drainage system...for God sake parang sunka na may tubig ang subdivision roads everytime umulan ng malakas. and the roads are not even paved! marami pang subdivisions na ganito sa GenSan that are supposed to be executive type of subdivisions pero napaka disappointing ang itsura, isa na riyan ang Villa Consuelo subd.
Condominiums in GenSan will help preserve farmlands of the city. Gaganda pa skyline natin, preserve pa natin ang ating food-producing lands.

Officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group raided the home of Merelyn Cayetano, president of Mindanao Development Ventures and Trade Corporation.
Authorities said Cayetano did not have a permit for the geckos.
Also found in her possession was an iguana, considered an endangered species.
Cayetano and 14 others were also arrested for violating the Wildlife Resources and Protection Act.
Cayetano said Lagao residents sold the geckos to them to be used for organic farming.
Aside from filing charges against the suspects, the authorities ordered that the animals be returned to their natural habitat. -- Report from Anne Santos, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN

wala namang dapat na ika-inggit ng Marbel sa GenSan...we are under one region and marbel is like the younger sister of gensan na rin diba? remember the founder of marbel is also the founder of gensan.
noon ngang isa-isang nauubos sa sunog ang mga malls ng gensan, we generals were happy and even supportive for marbel kasi nagboom talaga ang marbel dispite na kabaliktaran ang nangyayari sa gensan noon.

Thumbs up! I always consider Gensan really part of SouthCot, thus proud whatever development is happening in Gensan and Marbel and the rest of SouthCot.

Ay abaw, don't get jealous a. Something really big will come to Marbel. I think Amparo Suites is just too premature for Marbel. Just be happy for Gensan also, anyway it still part of SouthCot (baw gin claim!!!:lol::lol:).
Soemday when we have a very proactive and business-like management of the LGU, we really have to expect transformation of Marbel. Crossing my fingers:cheers:

Remember the up and coming SMI operations? Its one big income-generating business for so. cot. More employment for the locals thus increasing its purchasing powers. I just hope local officials of the province have very strong political will in preserving very well the ecological balance of the environment. Zero corruption please. Prioritize local residents for employment. I pray that officials wont get tempted with bribes or what so ever that is illegal. the province should gain best from this mining activity. remember it is one of the biggest mining activity in the world. so I am appealing to the officials to be very cautious and be sure that the welfare of the people and the province will not be compromised. south cotabato and tampakan town should gain from this, not just SMI or any investor for that matter. all these should be like PPP for south cotabato.
Perhaps the so. cot. officials could summon SMI to transfer their corporate address in Marbel and not elsewhere. this will bring in a lot of expatriates to relocate in the region. always look for the welfare of the environment because nature is the one giving us livelihood.
also, Gensan being the hub of logistics in region 12 can also benefit from all these. The makar international port is ready to accommodate and efficiently handle huge ships and container vans to transport goods anywhere in the world. same as the international airport of gensan. the airport in gensan should be fully rehabilitated to be at par with today's world standards. its a good thing that DPWH-12 is now rehabilitating the national roads in the region. upgrading the pavements to efficiently accommodate heavy vehicles.
Remember, The future is brightest in SOCSKSARGEN. therefore there should be NO TIME FOR JEALOUSY. Its time to work together--hard and efficient--as one region.

and take note:
once operational na ang SMI accumulating Golds, copper, other minerals.. the highway Gensan-Polomolok-Tupi will be very busy.. since that is the only way para ihatid ng mga dump trucks yung mga minerals to Makar sea port... para iload sa mga barko.. so therefore, there will be a tremendous change that will happen along this highway for sure. :okay:

very true. huge loaded trucks will be a common scene at the national highway. I would suggest magdagdag pa ng another lane sa existing 4 lanes. dapat gawin na itong 6lanes para smooth ang daloy ng traffic. remember na slow moving lang ang mga trucks na ito.
the national highway from gensan to tampakan should have truck lanes. dpwh-12 should also check on the capacity of the existing bridges.

dayanadayang December 1st, 2011, 08:01 PM That it is actually improper to call our airport "Tambler Airport" because the truth is, General Santos International Airport (GSIA) is actually situated within the jurisdiction of Brgy. Fatima. The dry creek (with no official name to date) is actually the boundary dividing Barangays Tambler and Fatima. Hence, our airport should be called "Fatima airport" and not "Tambler airport".

Never heard na ang airport sa Surallah. It was operational when Gensan is still using the old airport in Buayan. When the new airport (now delapidated again and the renovation is not even clear/shotang hena na renovation yan!!!!!), Surallah Airport was gone into oblivion. Naka schedule din dati kasi ang flights ng Buayan Airport that was why Generals often go to Surallah if they want to have direct flight to Cebu via Surallah.
I think if people from Allah Valley Area and Koronadal area increase, opening the airport is still feasible. :):):)
dayanadayang December 3rd, 2011, 05:25 AM Sa tingin ko naman ay masyadong malapit ang towns of South cotabato and Sultan Kudarat to GES para magkaroon pa ng another airport. What we need are efficient and fast transport system from these urban areas to GES. Remember that GES is an international airport of region 12.
Actually even Polomolok ay may airstrip din eh.. The one being used by DOLE for their small aircraft. And GenSan has 2 working airports. The old Buayan Airport is still around.:)

They were supposed to be deferred until the next season pero ang kaso raw is that, may isang member sila na kailangan daw ng finances...so yun...they opted to join the competition this season on the condition na they will not carry the name GENSAN along everytime they compete...sad...

based on their reasons presented, parang when it comes to Gensan's performers.. they always have the impression na these performers have this Winning Tendency at magkakampeon ulet sa patimpalak ng sayawan sa showtime.. Pero kasalanan ba ng mga Performer na pawang mga Heneral na magagaling talaga sila.. above all others.. however, I understand naman ABS-CBN.. iniiwasan lang nilang mabahidan ng itim na tinta ang kanilang show.. which di naman talaga maitim.
