This one always keeps amazing me. Even this picture (Google Earth) shows my uncle's home just beside, where I stayed for 4 years - all my Engineering course in the late 90's and starting 2000.

And this land, just behind my uncle's home, was all broken houses, shanties etc. It never looked so huge.

This will probably remain forever the best real-life example - something that I have seen and have been a part of - for all my years to come - example of how great upliftment can development make to rusts and shambles.

^^ If u visit Wikimapia http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=22.5227974&lon=88.3568653&z=19&l=0&m=b u'll notice that there's a gap between the two 25 floor towers and the four 9 floor buildings.. Thats the area where the 43 floor Tower 3 is supposed to come up.. But I guess that will be taken up once the other buildings are completed!

Any update about the 43 storied tower? Has the construction/piling started? If not, then there hasn't been much progess during last 4-5months it seems.

samrat_m

There is a huge dug up space, along with machinery, to the left of the existing towers, possibly the piling site for the 43 storied tower.

For the existing towers, I believe, work was going on for the interiors in the last 3 months, as nothing much, apart from painting, is left for the exterior.

A couple of snaps at dusk. The twin towers do look good.
Possession for these two will start from April -May. The other blocks of G+9 have already started possession.
The 43 storied is still in groundwork stage.

Is this project behind ritchie road?

The exact location is Panditiya Rd, though the towers can be viewed distinctly from Maddox Sq on Ritchie Rd.
From the point where Ritchie Road meets Hazra Rd, take left & walk for 2 min down Hazra Rd, crossover & then enter Panditiya Rd, you'll see them.

But that's not true. In fact it's just the opposite.
The twin towers on launch (in 2008), had more than 30% bookings within 2 months. Over the time it got such good response that the developer announced the 43 flr tower to cash in on the success. Till now the two towers are more than 80% sold.
Contrarily, the 4 Blocks of 10 floors did not get that good response. 2 blocks have sold some apartments while the rem. 2 are totally unsold as of today.

The company is mentioning:-
Tower 1 is Sold Out.
Tower 2 is 80% sold out.
Block 4 & 5 are absolutely sold out.
Block 6 is 80% sold out.
Block 7 is 88% sold out.

So you can say that this project is hit project.

Ofcourse but SouthCity is not a hit project. This project was launched in 2004-05 and still some flats are unsold.

Apart from South Kolkata ,NewTown & SaltLake are another areas where all the Residential and Commerical projects are making Big profit.

You're making a mistake. If in a residential complex of 1600 apartments, 50 are remaining unsold, that is not even considered for any measurement of failure. On the contrary, with more than 95% sold units, South City is one of the most successful complex in the whole of India. There are numerous projects in other metros (as in Gurgaon, Bengaluru etc) with not even half the size of South City, where 60-65% of units have been sold & it is considered a successful project.
PS - Apart from 1600 units in 4 towers, another 150 units are being added in 5th tower, which is 60% sold out as of today.

The entire Salt Lake area doesn't have any highrise residential project. New Town is in boom of highrises but the overall success rate of New Town apartments, today is still not even half of South Kolkata. You have to understand that large parts of South Kolkata is the creme of the city & will always remain so, no matter how much the added areas develop. You can always take the cases of South Mumbai & South Delhi which are "the areas" to look out for, in the entire Mumbai / NCR regions.

Absolutely, the central south Kolkata is 'the area' to-day and with the launches of swanky premium apartment complexes it is undergoing through a positive change.
