HAMSI December 16th, 2007, 02:31 PM it had the same height with Sapphire some months ago. Now Sapphire reached 99.8m and DOI is about 68m so it is really slower than Sapphire.
But in the pictures you see that DOI is as great as the Sheraton Hotel next to it.
Messi December 16th, 2007, 05:01 PM it's not as tall as the next building;)
Darhet December 17th, 2007, 12:01 AM Only Moscow and perhaps London are to see such a dramatic change in their skylines until 2010...
Keep us posted!!!

gm2263 December 25th, 2007, 01:08 PM Some might comment that Polat Tower looks like an orthogonal nail to the traditional view of the city from the sea of Marmara. Well, in my view, Polat is one of the best residential skyscrapers in Europe but was unfortunate in its location since it seemed that it will remain idle in a location that probably wasn't needing such a development. BTW, I have been there briefly in 2002.
Well, I believe that the Selenium towers complete this unfinished picture and rather complete than destroy the whole image, with the formation of a mini skyline where the towers are "just about right" in terms of height and size.
I like this development, it's conventional but good architecture and much more than this, it continues the tradition of twin towers for which Istanbul is famous for.
Jakob December 25th, 2007, 01:31 PM ^^ I agree. It's a huge development. But the problem is that this area is kind of fancy and chic. So, these towers offer amazing and posh apartments. But I love them anyway. :)
Gordion December 26th, 2007, 05:54 PM What happening all the photos are gone!!
Kuvvaci December 26th, 2007, 07:18 PM Jakob, please don't use photobucket, it always gives error. We can't see the photos.

Kuvvaci December 28th, 2007, 03:24 PM Just don't use photobucket anymore
gm2263 December 28th, 2007, 08:21 PM is this problem related to the size of the pictures or what? Guys try to compress them and limit the longest dimension (regardless of whether it is a portrait or landscape orientation image) to 1000 pixels at most.
Worked for me and at 800-900 pixels it also made my posts readable :)

Ok :)
gm2263 January 1st, 2008, 12:08 PM It's good to see this gem rising. I hope and I believe that now that construction is advancing, the pace will also be faster. Imagine this beast to have topped out by this time next year.
I mean, I like the Sapphire but let's admit it, towers with the shape of the Sapphire exist almost everywhere in tall cities. It is the Diamond that from the beginning had this "something else" and will have a unique design and landmark value for Istanbul.
This is good news, keep it rising :)

gm2263 February 10th, 2008, 06:59 PM What is the height of this beauty? Is it really under construction or simply the plot's been acquired and the permits are on the way?
If the best scenario is in effect, the way it goes, I think we will have three scrapers above 200m before the turn of the decade in Istanbul. That's quite cool, in fact, the pace at which this new generation of towers started popping up should give some shivers to London and Paris, as well as Warsaw and Frankfurt. Only Moscow appears to be going full thrust with the Moscow tower to be the top scraper in Europe around 2013-2015.
Three towers above 200m under construction. Besides Moscow, no such thing is happening anywhere in Europe (Madrid just completed its four 200m+ sisters BTW, as seen above) but apart from this... Is the rest of Europe taking any notice?
TEKKEN February 10th, 2008, 09:11 PM i have seen a documentary in the German TV about the construction boom in Istanbul. Also some arab sheichs planning to built towers in Istanbul.

gm2263 April 13th, 2008, 03:15 PM Now it starts talking Business!!!
Farmir April 13th, 2008, 05:55 PM And they are only building the 22nd floor (currently they are at 88.10 meters height mark).
The total floor count of the central core tower will be 53 floors (reaching the structural height of 217 meters).
And then the steel wings' tips will reach the height of 270 meters!
gm2263 April 13th, 2008, 08:49 PM Actually next spring these two beasts (Diamond and Sapphire) will have been topped out and clearly making their mark in the skyline of both Levent and Maslak.
The Saphpire already surpassed 150m which in my view is now the limit for making a distinct impresion in Istanbul as there are alerady many towers between 100 to 150m.
However, as I was explaining to an architect friend the other day, with the construction of buildings above 200m Istanbul enters a whole new level. I hope by mid-summer the sapphire will have reached 200m. and counting. It's going up fast and by the time it will reach the height of the Is Bankasi tower each extra meter will count double visionally. Too bad the diamond didn't start up as early but it's going up too, and that's what counts.
Wait and see, these two towers will have a bigger impact to the skyline than a dozen smaller towers. Height does matter.
BTW any news from the Dubai Towers?
Anyway, just to remind the rest what we are talking about:

www.sercan.de April 13th, 2008, 09:16 PM DTI is still waiting for the court decision.
But there are other + storey towers planned at the new GS stadium site + TASYAPi (Mashattan) plans to built a +300m tower (74 floors) in Sisli
Jakob April 13th, 2008, 10:33 PM http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7062/img1263lxc8.jpg
gm2263 April 14th, 2008, 07:44 AM The decision where to build a supertall in Istanbul may become controversial. There may be advantages in building a supertall in Sisli and somewhat establish the feeling that definitely a third cluster which will be antagonistic to Levent and Maslak may be developed.
However, Levent and Maslak now will reach new heights and a sypertall there will increase their marketability.
As for DTI, the location on which they were chosen to be built is perfect. Their presence will be the epitome of one of the best balanced skylines in the world.
...and to think that nothing existed there before 1990.
OK, let's wait for the DTI then and hope that the council of architects will lose there. We are talking metropolitan scales here, and with the breaking of the 300m mark, Istanbul will complete the circle by becoming one of the world's modern metropolises besides also being a historic one!!!
Keep walking!!!
gm2263 April 14th, 2008, 07:52 AM ...besides the fact that the Mashattan towers play an excellent role as "skyline" fillers, they also extended the visual impact of this skyline of this part of the city.
What is astounding though is that we already see part of the core of the DOI to the right and although its height hasn't even reached 50% of its planned one, still it started making an impact to the skyline.
Excellent photo BTW...
www.sercan.de April 14th, 2008, 10:51 AM gm,
there are news that the area west of Levent (Büyükdere avenue) and the area north of Maslak (small grey car repair houses) will be turned into a CBD :D
Edn of course we haa Hadids Kartal project. But the highest one there will be 180m.
gm2263 April 14th, 2008, 12:10 PM The Kartal project is a mixed development right? Very interesting in its plasticity.
As for the new developments, I have seen that behind the highrises to the east event there is a densely populated zone. If the intention is to intervene there this will bring tremendous improvements in the whole area. Although, to the best of my understanding the area opposite to this one looks space-age with the villas and the skyscrapers and all.
So, obviously, since all the estates in Maslak and Levent facing Buyukdere Avenue have been used or are bound to be occupied within the next couple of years (:D), developers have to move "inland".
So, my wish for Istanbul is: Keep walking!!!
BTW, I believe that you should also open a thread on the developments in the Asian side. Kozyatagi and all. We have seen few things here and my understanding is that there's lots going on there.
www.sercan.de April 14th, 2008, 12:28 PM We have now many Kartal projecs.

blue = development within next 5 years
turquoise = development within next 10-15 years

Jakob April 18th, 2008, 07:04 PM Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump's daughter, came to Istanbul for the introducing party of the Trump Towers.
Ivanka Trump Türkiye'ye geldi
http://img.sabah.com.tr/im/2008/04/18/7D80C516C3854C47878D735Cr.jpg
ABD'li iş adamı ve emlakçı Donald J. Trump'un kızı Ivanka Trump, Trump Towers'ın İstanbul-Şişli Projesi'nin yarın yapılacak tanıtım partisine katılmak için İstanbul'a geldi.
Türk Hava Yollarına (THY) ait tarifeli uçakla Dubai'den İstanbul'a gelen Ivanka Trump, Doğan ailesi, Taşyapı, Trump Organization ve Yeşil İnşaat ortaklığıyla gerçekleştirilecek Trump Towers'ın İstanbul-Şişli Projesi'nin yarın Hilton Oteli'nde yapılacak tanıtım partisine katılacak.
gm2263 April 19th, 2008, 09:41 AM Actually were these towers originally announced by Trump or did he buy into this project later?
Istanbul is getting better and better BTW. After having "matured" its main clusters (Levent, Maslak, Sisli) by 2015, also some towers scattered here and there add to the image and provide more dramatized views with images from certain angles.
I like this one, although for Trump, I would expect something in the area of 60 floors to be honest. For Istanbul, anything from 100 to 150m has become commonplace these days...

DTI Tower I is the only +300m proposed project

TASPYAi (Mashattan project) want to built a 77 storey and +300m residence at Sisli and Kiler (Sapphire) just bought a new plot near the current Ali Sami Yen Stadium. There is not floor limit. So they want to built a higher one than Sappire (261m)
cello1974 May 14th, 2008, 10:52 AM But some of the rumors often become reality! I hope that Istanbul will soon begin to top their own tops to get up to 400m...

gm2263 May 14th, 2008, 06:39 PM With the Anthill, it seems that the Bosporus is under siege from the skyscrapers as at a height of 200m they will certainly make an impact in the skyline. Imagine that the TAT towers are visible from the Bosporous despite the fact that they are well inland and so is of course the IsBankasi, further inland but at a height of 181m.
Sisli is becoming a tower residential district. Still, the elite residence is my favorite there but with the new breed of towers it will be eventually dwarfed, as will be the Polat residence which was ill-fated from the beginning in terms of location. At the time of construction was the most pioneering residential tower in Europe though.
It's good to see these developments, and keep posting. Et, parlez en Anglais s'il vous plait, L' architecture d' Istanbul est bien devenue maintenant an objet d' intérêt internationale .
SouthernEuropean May 14th, 2008, 06:57 PM why do you people hang a big flag in every building ,at least in major ones ?is it to show pride ?:)

I advice people to come to http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=621 in order to see every kind of projects in Turkey and Istanbul.. :D :spam1:

gm2263 November 26th, 2008, 02:18 PM Dogus and Silver follow the road opened by the Sapphire, the Diamond and other similar proposals. Tall (they both seem to be "flirting" with a 200m height). Excellent world-class designs, get them started. The Tasyapi looks like there was plagiarism on the Diamond. Good but not as good as the other designs.
