and to think nigasto daw silag P/1 Million just to conceptualize that...

Grabe.. ka bugo uy.. very Elementary kaayo ang design....

Why not.. ila na lang nang gi english.. like BEAUTIFUL PHILIPPINES!!! I think mas ok pa na.. dili na kinahanglan mag spent ug P/ 1 Million.........:lol:

^^ kopya daw sa design sa Poland...

i think 'Wow Philippines' was more catchy than 'Pilipinas kay ganda'

and to think our target are foreigners and they're using tagalog.

I agree. It's good that they pulled out that slogan.

People from Metro Manila and Luzon never liked it, including the use of Filipino or Tagalog.

Asiatown developer to build more mid-rise BPO facilities (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=632626&publicationSubCategoryId=108)
By Ehda M. Dagooc (The Freeman) Updated November 23, 2010 12:00 AM Comments (0)

CEBU, Philippines – The developer of the 24-hectare Asiatown IT Park in Lahug, the Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corporation (CPVDC) plans to build another mid-rise BPO building with the rising demand for office space at the cyber-park.

CPVDC president Francis O. Monera announced that the recent development of Cebu, which has been declared as an "emerged" destination for IT and BPO, will bring more interested investors here.

"We are planning to build another BPO tower," Monera said citing the success of the eBloc2 Tower, which is occupied by two BPO giants, the JP Morgan and NCR.

CPVDC, in partnership with Ayala Land Inc. (ALI), projects to complete the P1.4 billion eBloc2 project by the end of 2011.

Even before the eBloc2 is completed, Monera said plans of putting up the third eBloc facility at the park is already in the drawing board.

Earlier, the company reported that it has readied the masterplan of the five-hectare undeveloped property within the park, and the two-hectare super-block that is located in the center of the property.

Part of the initial plan is to build a BPO enclave facility within the five-hectare remaining property. However, the company has not given an exact timetable for the project's completion.

Because of limited lots available last year, the total revenue of the company was affected, and it declined by about six percent, compared to the P371 million it earned in 2007.

Monera said as the total lot area available at the IT Park is getting smaller, the company is also on the constant lookout for lands to take advantage of the robust BPO sector.

Monera said that in 2008, the company continued to maintain a strong asset base, with total assets reaching P1.35 million. Cash and cash equivalents amounted to P435 million.

He said being pioneer in the ICT industry, CPVDC is in an optimum position to remain strong "and even flourish despite the global crisis."

The remaining undeveloped land within the cyber-park, Monera said will be the company's major source of growth in office leasing revenues as CPVDC turns its strategy towards building offices to cater to more IT and IT-enabled service locators while keeping ownership of the land for future value appreciation.

Its newest building called eBloc Tower which was completed last year, is now getting considerable interest from the probable tenants market.

This 12-story office condominium is the maiden project of Asia I-Office Properties, as special purpose vehicle created with the partnership between CPVDC and ALI's Corporate Business Group.

CPVDC has already developed two modular buildings at the Asia Town IT Park, called e-Offices.

Monera said all buildings that will be built within the five-hectare property will be owned and managed by the company and will not be sold to locators. (FREEMAN)

Marcos told reporters she is pushing for joint projects along the lines of trade, tourism and information technology. She said the two provinces can also work together to promote each other’s tourism, considering that both have international airports. A first step is to open direct flights from Cebu to Laoag and vice-versa.

She said Cebuanos are very welcome to Ilocos Norte, as the latter is said to be suffering from a declining population due to migration.

“Marami nang manufacturing design and software development sa Cebu. We have a lot of lessons to learn and lot of technology transfer,” Marcos said.

ACCENTURE TO OPEN 3 MORE FACILITIES

A symbolic opening was held at the Accenture facility in McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The two other sites are in Eastwood, Quezon City and the Robinson’s Cybergate in Cebu City.

The facility in Robinson’s Cybergate is their second in Cebu after the first Accenture facility opened at the Pioneer building at the Cebu Business Park in 2007.

Accenture country managing director Manolito Tayag said Cebu is part of their strategic growth in the country, saying it is a prime location to source out talent for business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology.

Robinson’s Cybergate
I just learned that Cebu Pacific Air has a call center in that building, agents handling ticket reservations.

Accenture, according to my sources, will occupy two levels for their BPO department (call center agents, etc.) The programmers will remain in Pioneer Office - CBP.

Cebuanos are loyal to the Aquino no matter how they are. Walay nahimo si Abnoy kay puros PS3 ug atiman ni Josh ang gihimo niya imbes unta atimanon ang nasod. From Congress to Malacanang, he has no achievements, he is can't riding the economic bandwagon done by Arroyo's economic reforms. From the beginning, Noynoy Aquino was never a presidentiable material. He is just a kitten lionized by those who are members of the Cory Aquino Cult.

We deserve the kind of leaders we have. Blame Noynoy for not being the president we expect him to be. Blame the people for chosing a president we did not want to be. Blame the political system for not teaching the people how to choose wisely. Blame the country for making such a system. Blame the... wait are we part of the country? Then I guess blame ourselves too.

win-win pd siya coz it'll be good for the peope with the green and open space. but on the real estate developer perspective property values around it will surely go up.

when i was there, the top most floor of the main mall is not dark. i dunno but i guess it comes from the natural light. the only darker parts (i don't mean walay kuryente (:D) of the mall is at the northwing, and the lower floors of the main mall. :)

All of these are businesses, most business owners want to start their business names with "A" so it will be the first one that can be found in the telephone directory when someone searches for it.

One guy I know here, he started AAA Plumbing and he doesn't even do plumbing work himself but he is doing well in business because people call him first all the time. Most people who calls need emergency work done. He just subs out the work to other plumbers he knows who charges him a discounted price.

AboitizLand to build residential, BPO facilities at Mandaue recla (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=633254&publicationSubCategoryId=108)
By Ehda M. Dagooc (The Freeman)
Updated November 25, 2010

CEBU, Philippines - Aboitiz Land Incorporated is set to develop its 15-hectare property at the Mandaue North Reclamation Area, to establish a new integrated development that will include BPO buildings, hotels, and residential facilities.

AboitizLand Inc. vice president for marketing and sales Manuel U. Arbues II announced that this project, which will start next year, is another commercial development to be introduced by the company, after the Mactan Export Zone II.

Although, the master plan of the project is already completed, it is still subject for the company’s board approval.

This project is one of the two to three projects that will be introduced by the company in 2011, excluding the expansion ventures on its existing residential developments.

According to Arbues, the company has to take advantage of the booming commercial real estate industry in Cebu, specifically in providing more BPO-ready buildings.

Part of the plan is to invite a hotel developer to locate in the area, as well as building series of mid and high-rise towers for condominiums and BPO markets.

Aside from the integrated development project, Arbues said Aboitiz Land will also unveil several pocket-residential developments that mostly provide condominium units.

Next year, the company will launch its 4-hectare Condominium project in Canduman area that will offer a “country club residential concept” in Cebu.

Also, another project will be introduced next year, to be called North Bacayan, which is adjacent to its high-end residential project—Pristina North.

According to Arbues, the company is bullish on the real estate industry in Cebu, considering that it remained unfazed despite the global economic crisis.

Recently, the company launched the Pristina North Residences project, which offers house and lot choices to buyers in the chic Pristina North subdivision located in Bacayan, Talamban.

“The economy especially in Cebu is better now. People have more money. There is a strong demand for middle-range to high-end residential developments,” said Arbues.

These high-end town houses with lot cuts measuring to as big as 191 square meters will be pegged at P8 million to as high as over P10 million.

Arbues added that the company will formally announce the details of its new projects for 2011 in the next few months.

Four years ago, after about half a century of studying and working in the Big City, when my arthritic knees were getting too bothersome, and I was well into my senior citizen years, I decided to move back to Cebu City, where my parents had moved our family in the late 1950s. It was also time, I thought, to simplify my life, divest myself of unnecessaries, and reduce the stress of daily living.

My mother had passed away earlier that year; and my father was alone at home, cared for by my mom’s housekeeper of 32 years. My mom had been his best friend since they married in their teens. And Luming, who had entered their home when she herself was a teenager, considered them her surrogate parents.

Since my Dad’s car was just lying idle, parked in his garage, I disposed of my own car before leaving Manila, thus ridding myself of one more attachment. After that, it was easy to give up more and more things. It was painful to decide which ones to let go; but now, looking back, I have no regrets. I still want to dispose of more personal belongings, and have resolved to do this step by step. After my father died last year, I decided to move into a studio nearer the city’s center, and this has forced me to dispose of what I don’t really need, since there is not much space for them. I also discovered that in Cebu, I did not need a car. And also that I no longer wanted to drive.

When you travel lighter, I find, it is easier to appreciate the good things that come along.

One of the things I have learned to appreciate is the ease of getting a cab here in Cebu. You just telephone a number, and the cab comes to your doorstep. No need to bother with parking, and parking fees, or car maintenance. I have also discovered, since I go around with a walking cane, that cab drivers, security guards, counter clerks, etc., take seriously the city government’s clearcut policy of "priority given to senior citizens and PWDs" (short for persons with disabilities).

I surely enjoyed the benefits of this policy when last year I went to the Comelec office to transfer my voter registration; and later when I had to vote. Getting out of the Ayala Terraces Mall is also quite easy. Senior citizens don’t need to line up; more especially not if you are a PWD. I have actually experienced walking past lines of over a hundred people waiting for cabs whenever it rains, and they graciously allow me my privilege. The cab dispatchers write down the cab’s identifying numbers and give it to you so you have a basis for complaints, if you have to file one. The city government of erstwhile Mayor Tommy Osmeña also made it a policy that a cab can pick up a PWD anywhere on the road. This is such a boon for me since I am still completing my post-op rehab for my knees.

Earlier this year, in February, I rented a condo unit in Makati in order to undertake work on a couple of short-term consulting projects. During the five months that I lived there, I realized that life in Manila was no longer for me. Since I no longer kept a car, and as far as I know, you can’t order a metered cab by phone there, I ended up scrounging or sometimes, practically begging for a ride whenever I had to go out for meetings, to the grocery, or to buy other supplies.

Having lived for a few years now in kinder, gentler Cebu, I remember distinctly a couple of traumatic experiences when I felt Manila was such a heartless city. The first was when I had gone to SM Supermarket at the Makati CBD. I had crossed over to the hardware store to buy something for my rented flat, and then stood by the sidewalk which had PWD markings. However, as it turned out, cabs were not allowed to pick up passengers there. I was instructed to walk some distance to the taxi waiting area. However, my knees were in so much pain that this was not feasible for me to do. First I asked the traffic aide to please let me take one of the cabs that were dropping off passengers. He said it was not allowed. I pleaded and begged explaining that I was in so much pain. Could my companion Luming get a cab and fetch me at the curb? Nope. No exceptions, he said.

Since I had spent some years in the Parliament of the Streets, almost by instinct, and in desperation, I decided to use my street-fighting skills. I walked to the middle of the road between the Supermarket and the hardware store, spread out my arms, while holding my walking cane with my right hand. And thereby stopped the traffic! (haha). When the traffic aide told me to go back to the sidewalk, I told him I would only do so if he called a cab for me. As I adamantly refused to budge, he had to call one for me. I then told him to put my packages inside the cab’s trunk, and he had no choice but to do so. Then, I said, you will please open the door of the cab, which he did. And so, that is how I got my way, and managed to get home with my groceries. (haha).

The second trauma was when I had to go to the Senate offices at the GSIS building in Pasay. The cab was not allowed by Security to enter the gates of the Senate half of the building. As it was such a long walk, and my legs were in pain, I pleaded that my cab be allowed to drop me off at the building’s entrance. No dice. I had to take that long excruciating walk to and from the Senate building. Isn’t this the Senate building that also passed the Senior Citizen Law?

After spending five months in Metro Manila, I returned home to Cebu last July. And now, finally, I feel that Cebu is truly my home. I walk out of my flat into a flower garden, where I unfold my director’s canvas chair. Here is where I get to read my daily paper in the morning sun, and do my favorite crossword puzzle to stimulate my brain for the day’s work. This is the good life.

I hope that the leaders of the Metro Manila Development Authority will find ways to make life more humane and congenial for the people who live there, starting with senior citizens and PWDs. This will enhance its GNH (gross national happiness) rating. After all, what is the point of it all?

If you have the drive, the guts, the determination, the inspiration, etc. to achieve something then you will always achieve it... No need for law of attraction because it's the same, hehehe... The law of attraction actually works on the premise of having the drive to achieve something through determination and perseverance.

afaik, this 'law' has no scientific basis. and it's been the subject of debate among science enthusiasts the world over. i guess it all depends on the mind. it's very similar to the placebo. you let your mind believe, everything else follows.

First shopping mall for Naga
By Liv G. Campo (The Freeman) Updated November 27, 2010 12:00 AM Comments (0)

CEBU, Philippines – If negotiations push through, Naga will have its own shopping mall soon, from where it expects to rake in at least P5 million annually. The project would also mean more jobs for residents, Mayor Val Chiong said in an interview.

Based on the plan so far, Gaisano Metro will convert Naga's sports complex, which stands across the city hall, into a shopping mall.

The entire area, parking lot included, is about 2,500-square-meter.

Chiong said Gaisano, also under the agreement which is yet to be approved by the city council, will construct for free a new sports complex for Naga just beside the city hall.
Reportedly, the new facility will be patterned after modern sports complexes abroad, according to a city hall insider.

Meanwhile, tenants renting spaces at the sports complex will be moved to the new facility once it is completed, said Chiong.

But during the construction, they will be housed temporarily in another place just within the city's reclamation area.

The lease agreement, Chiong said, is good for 25 years, but "renewable," that is, if the private firm complies with what will be specified in the contract.

The past days, a team from Gaisano Metro has been seen in Naga to check the place.

But as of yesterday, "everything is still under negotiation," that even the contract has yet to be made and the council has to approve it, the mayor said.

"If this pushes through, this is going to be beneficial to the city, more jobs for the Nagahanons, and syempre, income to Naga," he said. (FREEMAN)

at least ang taga dinhang dapita and nearby lungsod dili na moadto pa ug tabunok or colon to go shopping for their daily needs. ug ang mga tawo moanha sa naga for business or what not, dili ma problema kon asa sila mangita ug makan-an. sa una magdala gyud ta sa tanan gamitonon kon moda-aw ug lungsod. well, this is another way of decongesting cebu city. go ahead gaisano!

Cebu town to open own 'Roxas Blvd'
November 26, 2010, 5:39pm

TUBURAN, Cebu, Philippines – This sleepy and once rebel-infested town in midwest Cebu is aiming to carve its name in the tourism map of the province as it opens its Tuburan Boulevard, patterned after Roxas Boulevard in Manila, the first project in this part of Cebu.

Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante will lead the opening of the Tuburan Boulevard and the lights-on ceremony of the town’s P200,000 worth of Christmas lights on Monday. Diamante said he will invite all the mayors from the towns of Pinamungahan, Asturias, Balamban, Tabuelan, San Remigio, and the cities of Toledo and Bogo to witness the event.

Diamante said he relocated the vendors in the area to give way for its rehabilitation and convert the place into a tourist destination and recreational center for the Tuburan people who have limited money to go to other places.

In the boulevard, Diamante said vendors will be allowed to sell food and drinks, as well as other goods in designated areas.

Any person can bring his family during weekends to eat, sing, dance and enjoy. On the Christmas lights, Diamante said he donated P200,000 worth of Christmas lights because he doesn’t want the municipal government to spend money for it.

“The spirit of Christmas must be felt by the Tuburan residents no matter how hard life is. (Mars W. Mosqueda Jr.)

A visitor who hasn’t been to Cebu in a while would probably be forgiven for thinking she’d gotten off at the wrong airport.

This is not the Cebu I remember from a decade or so ago. Gone are the old houses, the bucolic countryside, the laidback pace—this Cebu is frenetic, sophisticated, and booming with industry. Malls have trebled, call centers have sprouted and the gaps in the suburban landscape have been filled in by property developers from the mainland.

Like the Filipina trading in her baro’t saya for a more modern upgrade, the Queen City of the South is getting a makeover of Tyra Banks magnitude—and Cebuanos are embracing it with characteristic welcome.

The trip, sponsored by Robinsons Land Corp., was an opportunity for several members of media to view the inroads accomplished by the property developer in the province. To survey the lay of the land, so to speak.

Big plans

“We’ve been developing properties in Metro Manila and other provinces, it’s about time we turn our focus on Cebu, which is, after all, the hometown of Mr. John Gokongwei, our chairman,” says Roseann Coscolluela-Villegas, RLC corporate public relations manager.

Gokongwei, who is chairman emeritus of JG Summit, one of the biggest conglomerates in the country (of which RLC is a part), traces his roots to Cebu.

Saying that RLC has big plans for the province is something of an understatement. In the works are massive makeovers for both the hotel and the mall, as well as development on several mixed use properties including Robinsons Cybergate, Blue Coast Residences, Aspen Heights, and AmiSa.

What’s in a name?

First on the list of makeovers is the rebranding of the Cebu Midtown Hotel and the expansion of Robinsons Place, the mall attached to the hotel.

Cebu Midtown Hotel, located along Fuente Osmena Circle, is a 10-story hotel with 212 rooms. Built in the eighties, the hotel is showing a bit of wear and tear and the furnishings are a bit outdated. The lobby, located on the third floor, is spacious but far from modern. Yet it has attracted its share of repeat customers because of its location and service.

“We plan to renovate the hotel bit by bit. A couple of floors every few months. We can’t close down the hotel completely. Sayang ang business (We’d miss out on the business). We do brisk business year-round, but especially during holidays like the Sinulog and Christmas. Hopefully, most of our renovations will be done by the time Sinulog comes in January,” says Joseph Dantes, resident manager of the hotel.

The hotel will be rebranded as Summit Circle, with a sleeker, more modern lobby, wider hallways, and brighter, commodious rooms with modern amenities (flatscreen TVs, rain showers, etc.)—all the fittings needed to make the hotel top-of-mind choice for travelers to Cebu. It will also feature fine dining outlets to accommodate both guests and walk-in customers.

Major facelift

Robinsons Place Cebu, one of the earliest malls in the province, is also undergoing a major facelift simultaneous with the hotel. From its current three floors, the mall will eventually expand to a four-level retail nirvana featuring over 90 popular dining, retail, and service outlets like Guess, Bench, Penshoppe and Alberto. This is on top of the mall’s anchor brands (Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Do-It-Best Handyman, Robinsons Appliances and Robinsons Food Court).

Robinsons Place Cebu straddles three major thoroughfares—Fuente Osmeña Avenue, General Maxilom Avenue and F. Ramos Street. The mall has direct access to the hotel and is walking distance to a number of office buildings, banks, pension houses, hospitals and other hotels. It is also close to Robinsons Land’s latest project, Robinsons Cybergate Cebu.

Located at J. Llorente St. corner Don Gil Garcia St. facing Fuente Osmena Circle, Robinsons Cybergate is RLC’s answer to the burgeoning BPO industry in Cebu. The PEZA-accredited building houses a mix of BPO offices and first-class medical clinics and wellness centers, such as Annie’s, Coco Salon and Salon de Rose, while the first two floors make for a shopping and lifestyle destination. Outlets include Jollibee, Shakey’s, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Bo’s Coffee Club, Savory, Koreya, Pino, Flame It, Japengo, Golden Cowrie, Mooon Café, and Quikshop, while sevices include Robinsons Bank, Western Union, Dr. Iben Ting Pharmacy, Rose Pharmacy, LBC Express and CD-R King.

Cebu and the Cebuanos have consistently been giving nothing but pride to Philippines.

Here is another one.

(The Philippine Star) Updated November 27, 2010 12:00 AM Comments (12)

BERKELEY — Skygazers here are watching one of Jupiter’s dark brown stripes that faded out last spring slowly regain its color, tipped off by an amateur astronomer from the central Philippines.

In early November, amateur astronomer Christopher Go of Cebu City observed a prominent bright spot in the unusually whitened belt, piquing the interest of professional and amateur astronomers around the world. Amateur astronomers had earlier noticed that the long-standing stripe, known as the South Equatorial Belt (SEB) just south of Jupiter’s equator, had turned white.

Now astronomers can observe a rare and mysterious phenomenon caused by the planet’s winds and cloud chemistry, thanks to Go, of the Physics Department of the University of San Carlos.

After follow-up observations with NASA’s Infrared Telescope Facility, the 10-meter Keck telescope and the 8-meter Gemini telescope, all atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii, scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, and elsewhere now believe the stripe is making a comeback.

Ayala Malls reap 7 awards in Beijing (http://business.inquirer.net/money/breakingnews/view/20101128-305730/Ayala-Malls-reap-7-awards-in-Beijing)

MANILA, Philippines—Ayala Malls, the shopping center group of Ayala Land, was the sole recipient of the prestigious International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Foundation Community Support Award, at the recent ICSC Asia Shopping Center Awards Competition in Beijing, China.

The group also collected a Gold for Marketing Excellence and five Silver Awards in the Beijing competition, a statement from Ayala Land said.

The coveted ICSC Foundation Community Support Award was given to the “Ondoy” campaign of Greenbelt, a program adjudged as having had the greatest humanitarian impact in Asia-Pacific.

The campaign was aimed at raising funds to build homes and assist families displaced by two devastating typhoons, “Ondoy” and “Pepeng,” in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hour and World Wide Fund for Nature.

The ICSC Foundation donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity, Ayala Malls’ partner charity, to build more homes for Bahay ni Juan sa Calauan, a relocation project for Ondoy victims and relocated squatters along the Pasig River.

The Ayala Malls’ Alabang Town Center won the Gold Award for Cause-Related Marketing for its “A Chance to Share” campaign, a community outreach program for Manila street children.

The Silver Awards were won for the following: for sales promotions and events for its “A- List Wish List Promo;” for public relations for its “Greenology” campaign;” for cause-related marketing for Greenbelt’s “Healing the Broken Spirits” campaign, and for design and innovation for Ayala Center Cebu’s “The Terraces.”

The awards were received by a team of Ayala Malls executives led by Ayala Land chair Fernando Zobel de Ayala.

The ICSC is the premier global trade association of the shopping center industry with more than 55,000 members in over 90 countries.

Ayala Malls also won accolades for its communications management programs in the recent 2010 Philippine Quill Awards. The Ayala Malls “U-First” campaign and Market! Market!’s “Recycling is in the Bag” received the coveted Award of Excellence.

exactly kon horizontal pana nga lines ang naa sa kilid, it will look tall. mao na ang nakabati sa design but overall. oks na oks. kon nganong gi combine ang vertical lines ug horizontal lines nga mora ug walay continuity. maputol imong focus sa tall building tungod ana.

no sir that street is just an access or service road for Ayala Active Zone and The Terraces at the back of Ayala FGU and IL. the sidewalk in that area IMO is appropriate though because its not considered a major road inside CBP.

"This is not the Cebu I remember from a decade or so ago. Gone are the old houses, the bucolic countryside, the laidback pace—this Cebu is frenetic, sophisticated, and booming with industry. Malls have trebled, call centers have sprouted and the gaps in the suburban landscape have been filled in by property developers from the mainland."

Yes, the ones they make are cheap but they ain't that sturdy and good on the feet. If you don't wear them that often, it is probably a good buy. For sturdy and better looking ones, this one has the best bang for the buck: http://esparto.ph/

The owner/designer for Esparto also makes custom painted espads that look amazing. He's a co-worker of my friend who is in the Ad industry. I'm really keen on getting one as well. :)

[B]Robinsons Place Cebu, one of the earliest malls in the province, is also undergoing a major facelift simultaneous with the hotel.

I just remembered a story by my late aunt way back when Robinsons Cebu was still new about a serpent, which was said to be the owner's son, living underneath the mall and had devoured many unwary shoppers falling through a trapped door on the floor of a fitting room.

Probably conjured up by the Gaisanos. Anybody heard of this hoax too?

A high-rise Cebu’s rich and famous can call home (http://www.inquirer.net/propertyguide/buildingblocks/view.php?db=1&article=20101128-305874&pageID=1)

Inquirer.net

CEBU CITY, Philippines—Ayala Land Inc. (ALI), under its Ayala Land Premier brand, has poured in P1 billion for its first high-end condominium development in Cebu.

The 27-story 1016 Residences will rise on the 50-hectare Cebu Business Park (CBP) and will be completed by 2014, according to ALI senior vice president Emilio Tombocon.

Good feng shui

“Cebu is the premier, commercial and business district in southern Philippines and we are proud to launch this one-of-its-kind development in a community of global citizens,” Tombocon said.

The name of the condominium building was derived from the lot and block numbers and presented “good feng shui,” he explained.

Bobby Dy, senior vice president and group head of Ayala Land Residential Business Unit, said the company was still waiting for the license to sell all 109 units. Ground-breaking ceremonies are planned by yearend.

To be built beside the exclusive Cebu City Sports Club (CCSC), the 1016 Residences will have 11 special units highlighting private gardens and patios, roof decks, gourmet and Asian kitchen and private pool.

Regular units will be sold for up to P12 million, while the special units are priced at P40 million.

Heavily landscaped

Every floor will have six units—four two-bedroom units (98-101 square meters) and two three-bedroom units (131 sqm). The size of the three-bedroom special units may go up to 229 sqm.

Each unit will come with an assigned share in Cebu City Sports Club.

Development will cover a total area of 2,300 sqm, but only 900 sqm will be devoted for the building footprint.

The rest will be “heavily landscaped,” Dy said.

“Cebu has always been, and will continue to be, a key geography for us,” Dy added. “It is a place where businessmen thrive, a major trading hub in the Visayan region, a major exporter of fashion accessories and furniture, and increasingly becoming strong in BPO .”

Jose Juan Jugo, Ayala Land Premier senior division manager, said the project was inspired by outstanding Cebuanos who have made names in the international scene.

Some of these luminaries are fashion accessories exporter Butch Carungay, designers Cary Santiago and Joanna Lhuillier, and painters Kimsoy Yap and Romulo Galicano.

[B]More residential options

Tombocon said 1016 Residences “gives more residential options for metropolitan Cebuanos.”

Recently, Ayala Land subsidiaries launched Alveo and Avida Towers Cebu to cater to the mid-market and affordable market segments.

Alveo is also located within CBP, while Avida is at the Asiatown Information Technology Park.

In 2005, Ayala Land Premier launched Amara, a high-end, seaside residential community in Catarman, Lilo-an town in northern Cebu.

Cebu: "AN ISLAND IN THE PACIFIC"
Back to 'An Island in the Pacific' slogan? - SHOOTING STRAIGHT By Bobit S. Avila
If the DOT continues to insist on changing the slogan and Secretary Lim doesn’t have the delicadeza to resign, then I would exhort our fellow Cebuanos in the tourism industry to go back to our old but very successful program… “An Islandin the Pacific!” We did that during the Marcos years, when the country had a bad international reputation like what we have now!

There is a car service office/attendant right outside the arrival area, at the international side. I do not know about the domestic side.

Try to ask at the transportation thread at Cebu Mactan Airport, enjoy your Cebu stay.

Tourism credited for Cebu-Crimea sisterhood

CRIMEA—For its first sisterhood agreement in the Philippines, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Ukraine picked Cebu Province because its officials wanted to learn from its tourism program.

Vladimir Degtyarev, head of the office of interregional cooperation and international organizations, said they have seen how the Province “drafted a dynamic program” in tourism aside, as well as its efforts in trade and preserving the cultural heritage.

“We think that the Province of Cebu is one of the most dynamic in its development, especially in the field of culture, health and tourism,” he told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview.

“I hope that we will find some specific common ground and we will make concrete steps on the points marked in this agreement,” he added.

Most of Crimea’s sisterhood agreements are with local governments in other European countries, like France and Bulgaria.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn and First Vice Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers Pavel Burlakov signed the agreement Friday afternoon, as one of the highlights during the Black Sea Economic Forum held in the Palmira Palace hotel.

Crimea’s invitation had been forwarded to the governor by Consul General Oscar de Venecia of the Consulate of Ukraine in Manila.

Considering the “mutual interest” of Cebu and Cremia in deepening, strengthening and expanding economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, it will cooperate in 14 specific areas, including industry, agriculture, transport, science, engineering, education, health protection, culture, art, tourism, sport, ecology and rational use of natural resources.

Burlakov also signed the same agreement with the Crimea and the Burgas region in Bulgaria and its governor also expressed interest to sign a sisterhood agreement with Cebu.

Garcia, during the bilateral meeting with Burlakov, expressed her gratitude for Cebu’s being chosen for the sisterhood program.

“The parties will promote mutual development of trade, manufacturing, investment and other types of economic cooperation,” the agreement stated.

The first step to take in the tourism industry is to establish the flight route, said Garcia.

“I believe that though Cebu is thousand and miles away, there’s so much potential in both regions working together in our mutual benefit. For tourists, the first thing we need to do is to establish the flight route because it took me about close to 18 hours just coming here,” the governor told the Ukrainian press, in an interview after the signing.

Garcia said she will be happy to welcome tourists to Cebu and said that it has “perpetual sunlight”. She also said the province is known as the Milan of Asia because it produces “the finest furnitures, gifts, toys and housewares”.

“We can encourage furniture manufacturers to seek new markets in these areas and on the other hand, we are always open to whatever possible products that Crimea may be able to send to Cebu,” she said.

During the opening of the forum, Ukraine expressed its interest in information technology and the governor said this is one of the areas that the Province and Crimea can work on.

Also present during the signing were Provincial Board Members Peter John Calderon, Wilfredo Caminero and Bea Mercede Calderon and businessman Enrison Benedicto, co-chairperson of the One Cebu Council.

The agreement will enable training on Cebu and Crimea’s experiences in production organization, as well as the conditions of foreign trade activities. Restoration of natural resources, environmental security and promotion of organic goods production is also stated in the agreement.

Crimea is an autonomous republic and under the jurisdiction of Ukraine. Its key manufacturing industries are machine building, food, chemical industries and metal building.

Beautiful Cebu - Nicole

Went to Cebu for a biz trip last week, but luckily there was still a little time left to witness this beautiful tropical scene before I left for the plane.
Cebu is really a beautiful sun.sand.sea place. More beautiful than Phuket and Bali (coz there are less tourists here), and the Filipinos hospitality is second to none.
Will definitely head back to this place for a holiday one of these days!

PS: This is shot using a PNS. Nothing fantastic about the composition nor the colours or whatsoever, but just wanna share this beautiful scene I have witness. :)

(Mars W. Mosqueda Jr.)

nice start sa Tuburan

Major facelift

Robinsons Place Cebu, one of the earliest malls in the province, is also undergoing a major facelift simultaneous with the hotel. From its current three floors, the mall will eventually expand to a four-level retail nirvana featuring over 90 popular dining, retail, and service outlets like Guess, Bench, Penshoppe and Alberto. This is on top of the mall’s anchor brands (Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Do-It-Best Handyman, Robinsons Appliances and Robinsons Food Court).

Makita na ang renovation sa Summit Circle esp. in Ground Floor

Langit akong namat-an
Dinhi sa yutang natawhan ko
Pagkaanindot sa pinalangga ko nga Cebu
Pagkatahum sa hulagway
Sa gipangandoy ko'ng kalipay
Sa tanang panahon
Bisan asa karon, ipasigarbo ko...

Matahum nga Cebu, mauswagong Cebu
Tubod ning mga damgo ko
Mabaghoong Cebu, mamugnaong Cebu
Ikaw da ang kalipay ko
Imong kaanyag, awiton ko
Adlaw, gabii, Cebu isinggit ko

Cebu... Cebu...

Miabot na gayud ang imong panahon
Karon ang higayon...

Panggaon ta, awiton ta...

Matahum nga Cebu, mauswagong Cebu
Mabaghoong Cebu, mamugnaong Cebu

Matahum nga Cebu, mauswagong Cebu
Tubod ning mga damgo ko
Mabaghoong Cebu, mamugnaong Cebu
Ikaw da ang paglaum ko

Parehuson nila sa NYC and Baltimore, Maryland tunnels sa akong naagian. Gi butangan ang walling ug ceiling mga white smooth ceramic tiles aron kadali ra malinpiohan sa pressurized sprayer nga truck muagi once a month at least, to remove the soot sa mga sakyanan. unya sa hitaas naay tile lane division corresponding sa lane line division sa ubus. Naa pud mini LED lighting sa lane RED, Yellow or GREEN indication the lane condition ahead. Makita from light to next light ahead at close interval aron walay blind spot or sa curvature or turns sa lanes.

There will be a police car with flushing red and blue lights closing the particular lane at the tunnel entrance , unya a flashing yellow lights sa dump truck following the sprayer aron dili ma rear ended ang sprayer truck until the whole spraying will be completed.

Fuente Osmeña looks greener with lesser trees. The layout of the park is six-part, divided
by radiating paths from the center. The immediate space surrounding the fountain is already
paved with concrete. Note that the present larger basin for the fountain doesn't exist yet,
as well as the enclosing fence. And look how dusty the roads were then!

This is the first time I saw the usage of the word "matahum" in Cebuano context. For a moment, I thought the song will be using "maanyag" which means "beautiful" (I think). The term "matahum" is commonly used in Hiligaynon which depicts "beautiful." I don't know if they do have the same meaning as with Cebuano. I hope someone would give clarification on this.

difference between katahum and matahum ?????

Matahum is an adjective:

Matahum ang iyang pahiyom. Her smile is beautiful.
Matahum nga siyudad. Beautiful city.

Katahum is both a noun and an adjective:

Noun:
Di ko malimtan ang imong katahum. I can't forget your beauty.
Ang katahum mo dili malalis. Your beauty is undeniable.

Adjective:
Katahum sa dalaga. How pretty that young lass is.
Katahum sa talan-awon. How beautiful is the view/scene.

Tahum = refers to beauty is actually shared by both Hiligaynon and Cebuano languages.
Its just that when we use "Tahum- either katahum or matahum, this is usually a deeper Cebuano.. just like "maanyag".. usually used only in literature, songs and public speaking.. but not the usual day to day communication of the Cebuanos.

maanindot or nindot- used mainly on things, objects and particularly parts of a persons face or body ex. nindot nga building, nindot kag legs, nindot kag mata, or nindot kag nawong

maanyag - usually refers to a persons overall physical beauty

matahum - has a deeper use. can be used to a person, or object, but with deeper value... it like a beauty which expresses greater value and importance to the ones who appreciate or to a group of people.. ex. matahum nga simbahan, matahum nga syudad, matahum nga nilalang...

yeah, matahum is not only physically beautiful but also beautiful inside, under and above:D ovearall package kung baga including places, people, things etc...
while
maanyag only refers to physical beauty, what you see is what you say mostly on a person...

Overall, nice song. :okay:

Thanks! :)

the way i see it, matahom and maanyag both depicts beauty or beautiful but they differ on usage. you say 'matahom' when its a beautiful place and you say 'maanyag' when its a beautiful person (for ladies) and 'ambungan' for gentlemen. on the other hand, 'nindot' is more on things/conditions, beautiful things. and dont forget gwapa/gwapo, both are spanish as you know it but has replaced maanyag and ambungan in daily cebuano conversations due to spanish influence. :)

aSUs! Sir, sayang gyud ang higayon. If you are working on a foreign place or place away from your hometown, just think that you are on a vacation. Roam around the place, know its people, its culture and most specially its attractions. You earn and at the same time, you've travelled for free. Huna hunaa lang ang uban nga mogasto pag plete sa eroplano para lang makakita og Cebu for a few days only. Don't hide, get out and mingle with the locals coz there are a lot of things that you can learn from them and also tell them something about you place, your culture coz you don't know coz of your story about you place they might be interested to go there and in that way you can help your towns tourism industry in your own little way...

Add them (your Cebuano friends) on facebook then post pics of your beautiful place. For sure maaghat gyud silag adto sa inyo.
