ASEAN Summit & Boxing World Cup

Call it irony but on the day that the media announced the postponement of the ASEAN Summit, local boxing gets a confirmation from Tony Aldeguer (ALA) that Cebu will host the eagerly-awaited boxing "World Cup" that will feature a Philippines vs. Mexico card on February 25, 2007. I'm no big fan of politics so I'll take the good news and forget the bad (but learn from it).

Cebu boxing fans were on a high when they heard that SGG Promotions won the purse bid to stage the WBO super flyweight championship fight between champion Fernando Montiel and mandatory challenger Z Gorres. Although we were all excited about the development, this excitement was also "suspended" since there was talk that the fight would be held in Manila. So worry no longer. You can now heave a sigh of relief, say thanks for answered prayers and start saving money asap so you can score a ticket to the fights. Yes, the big show's coming to town.

The irony of it all is that the "other" big show that's coming to town has been postponed. After months (or years?) of preparations that included major facelifts, rehearsals and making sure that Cebu is ready, everything suddenly goes pffft! I still have my doubts (like everyone else) that a lady named "Seniang" was the reason for the postponement of the ASEAN Summit, but I guess we'll just deal with it.

The only concern I have here is that from an outsider's viewpoint, the postponement may not speak well about Cebu's hosting big events in general. Whether or not we like it, it now looks like we Cebuanos aren't ready to host big events like these. Although we don't have access to inside info and backstage activities that go with the preparations for the summit, I still believe that Cebu is a worthy host to international events, but what about those outside whose contact with Cebu is only through TV and the news? At this point, we don't even know when the summit will take place with no substitute dates being released by the summit's organizers.

Will the ASEAN Summit become a sign of things to come? Will it become a precedent for other things such as the boxing World Cup being planned by SGG Promotions? I guess the approach to the issue should be more pro-active.

Let's then declare that the postponement that hit the ASEAN Summit will not be repeated when SGG Promotions stages the World Cup on February 25, 2007 (or whatever final date is declared by SGG). To think is to create. Think it now and work that this becomes a reality. While the preparations for this may not be of the same magnitude as that of the ASEAN Summit, neither can we say that it's going to be a walk in the park for SGG's Sammy Gello-ani.

Remember that we're now talking about a fight card that may include three WBO world title fights! Already confirmed is the Montiel-Gorres showdown. Being nego'd are fights between WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon and Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, and WBO bantamweight holder Johnny Gonzales and Gerry Peñalosa. Bringing in three world champions to the country is no big joke. It's like bringing in all those heads of state of the ASEAN.

This early, we'll need a lot of assistance from the various local governments of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-lapu and the provincial government of Cebu. While their involvement in past boxing events have been there in their own little way, it's imperative that they come in to help out in a bigger manner. After all, aren't we selling Cebu in an event like this? Cebu is the 'brand" being sold here in the same way that Las Vegas is already known as the boxing capital of the world. Can we then say that Cebu is the boxing capital of the Philippines?

Another crucial concern is the venue for the event. Already being discussed as possible venues for this are the brand new Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), the South Reclamation Project (SRP) or a five-star hotel in the city. But will the CICC have its sports arena up by then? Or are they referring to the current structure that was just blessed Friday? If held at the SRP, this will obviously be an open air event, but ticket sales could be a problem. There was a time when the Waterfront Hotel hosted a number of boxing events, but it also had its limits (aside from its steep asking rental fees).

In last week's column, we also talked about the financial resources needed to stage this event. It won't come cheap and will need a lot of help. I'm assuming that SGG has set stringent checkpoints and deadlines for this, but should have enough time to cover all bases in this regard.

Bottom line is that we don't want that all the work done for preparations suddenly go down the drain for some flimsy reason. Preparations are exactly that: preparation for a big event that WILL take place.

We have another great opportunity to show the world that Cebu is second to none in hosting international sporting events, and not even a sister of "Seniang" is going to stop us.

Mga bai, thank you very much for the warm and friendly welcome I got from Bernie, Rage, Dive-Cebu, Arnold, Markiiboi and Slerz. You guys were truly fun to be with and it felt to me that I've known you for years. I was so relaxed and just wanted the evening to go on, if it were not for my early trip to Panglao the next morning. Anyway, I got home safely from Alona Palm Beach Resort (despite the rough seas) coming back. I'm so glad to see Metro Cebu came out of that typhoon relatively unscathed. And the Christmas tree is still standing with (I think) not a leaf out of place - yipee.

The South Coastal Road is now open 24 hours and an SRP pass is no longer required at the Mambaling Access Road.

The very tall posts at Mambaling Access Road are also functioning now.

Governor Garcia is leaving for Singapore where she was invited as panelist on Dec. 12 in the International Exhibition, Convention and Meeting Industry Event 2006. She said she wanted to promote the CICC as a new convention venue in Southeast Asia and attract foreign firms to hold exhibits in Cebu.

Excerpts from a newspaper:

A journalist from New Delhi, India, who asked not to be named, also said he understood why the Philippine Government had to make such a decision, adding that the lives of the heads of state could not be put at risk.

He does not believe that the delay has something to do with the travel advisories issued by the US, Britain, Japan, Australia and New Zealand against travel to Cebu, citing terrorist strike plans that “were in the final stages.”

He felt safe in Cebu, he said.

“Even in New Delhi, they do that. Whenever there are important events happening, they also issue such travel advisories warning their citizens not to go there. They should not do that,” he said.

He has decided to stay in Cebu for a while, to wait until the typhoon is over and enjoy his stay. He hopes to return to Cebu for the summit next month.

Maybe this is a result of the so-called "superficial" preparations. I hope though that our authorities will maintain the cleanliness beyond the summit:

Jarque said foreign guests taking part in the summit who arrived early were “impressed by what they saw and experienced in Cebu.”

“They said Cebu was ‘super clean,’ and that the people were working together to make their stay hassle-free and become a wonderful experience,” he recounted, quoting members of the 200-strong Chinese advance party.

He said Seniang also disrupted tourism traffic in Cebu and Boracay, the country’s top two destinations.

IBM earmarks P4 million for IT course development

To help the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Cebu attain its maximum capability, IBM Philippines has earmarked a P4 million budget to help universities and colleges develop useful curriculum to arm graduates with the proper ICT skills.

"We keep on strengthening our academic initiatives to start building a pipeline of qualified ICT professionals in Cebu," said James G. Velasquez IBM Philippines president and country manager.

In a press conference, Velasquez said the company initially expects about 500 students enrolled in ICT related courses to benefit from the program.

This program he said is part of the company's commitment to help Cebu further establish itself as the ICT hub in the Philippines.

Early this year, IBM through its past president and country manager Joaquin Quintos, signed a partnership agreement with the Cebu provincial government for help develop a solid ICT workforce development projects, to push the province take off and push the ICT industry's potential.

The P4 million-budget will initially involve the development of curriculum and technology training programs in large universities here.

"Aside from cost, infrastructure and availability of skilled-manpower remain top priorities for investors," he revealed.

It will sustain Cebu's attractiveness to ICT related investments, especially the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, among others. This initiative would also help people get equipped and be prepared for any work they will be required to do in ICT or tourism industries.

This already includes a broad sub-sector in BPO industry such as call centers, back-office offshore operations, software development, Research and Development, among others.

IBM, a global company, chose Cebu as its pilot area to implement its workforce development program in the country because of its potential to accommodate multi-billion dollars outsourcing, call center, and other ICT related investments.

The company has recognized that these industries further require a qualified workforce that is readily capable of meeting their requirements. IBM further believes that the workforce development program is the best solution for the would-be employees.

He said availability of skilled-manpower or availability of armed ICT graduates is now the top priority of most ICT related investors, aside from in place infrastructure and concerns in cost of doing business.

Sustainability of highly-skilled ICT related manpower has becoming a concern among investors, and even the start-up ICT companies here, because of brain-drain issue, and inability of universities to provide ready-to-be-employed graduates.

Most of the graduates who have degrees on ICT related courses, industry sources said still have to be trained by companies, because most acquire their diplomas without the strong foundation on the real field protocol.

IBM recently opened its expanded Cebu office at the Asia Town IT Park to signal the company's commitment to provide closer support service to its clients, as well as further strengthen its name in the Southern Philippine market, while competition has become stiffer.

"It's also a reconfirmation of our commitment to Cebu especially with our clients here who have been a significant contributor of the company's growth," said Velasquez.

Gwen says leak at CICC is not a setback, but a test

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday said the leak in the brand new Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) should not be seen as setback, but a "test for us to toughen ourselves even more."

"Others see a setback but we see an opportunity to step forward," she said.

During her speech, the governor tried to lighten the mood of the participants of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit by telling them "never mind the weather as long as we are together," which drew the applause of the participating businessmen from various parts of Southeast Asia.

She lauded the participants, who stayed for the entire duration of the summit despite the typhoon that threatened Cebu and other parts of the country.

Garcia explained that news on the postponement of the 12th ASEAN Summit, which is supposed to start today, has caused disappointment and a feeling of little disorientation, but she is thankfiul with the decision of the ASEAN-BIS participants to stay.

For nine months, she claimed that she has been constantly checking the developments of the CICC. She added that during the usual check last Saturday, she learned about the leak in the multi-million peso edifice, but instead of being dismayed she expressed gratitude and considered the incident as a test.

With the recent incident, Garcia said that more improvements would be done to the CICC, which may include an international sports arena. She added that the province may bid it out to the private sector under the Operate Transfer Scheme, under which, the winning bidder (private sector) would be the one to operate the CICC under a contract that may last from 25 to 30 years.

However, with the CICC receiving a lot of criticism from the media, she said that it seems it no longer needs to be marketed.

"Thanks to the extensive media coverage, CICC is now the most popular convention center in Asia," she said.

Earlier, Garcia said that she is expecting that the CICC would earn and the government could get back every peso that it has spent for it.

She explained that "we don't have to count for days, months and years" on how soon the government can have the return on its investment, but said the pride to have such grandiose facility is already unquantifiable.

The governor said that the CICC is a multi-event facility that is flexible to the needs of the clients and it is now very ready for conventions.

The governor, together with Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, was invited to speak during the closing rites of the 4th ASEAN-BIS, which was held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Both officials presented their plans and projects for Cebu and how to make it more attractive to investors.

Aside from selling the CICC, Garcia said that the provincial government is also bent on optimizing the real estate owned by the province and opening more investment opportunities for investors.

At present, she said that Cebu province is developing a property in Banilad that would house a hotel, recreation center, among others and will be putting up a farmers' market at the province-owned south bus terminal.

Garcia added that its property that is currently occupied by TESDA is also soon to open for investments under the Build-Operate-Transfer scheme. Camp Lapu-Lapu, where the Central Command is, will also be developed to become the "single largest property development in the province."

Hehehe, so you've noticed it too. Even we are also confused as to why it's very tall (and tilted). At first we thought that it's going to be for high voltage electrical wirings but those are street lamps after all.

A city official whom we met during a Christmas Eyeball in another forum said that those were the ideas of an "architect." Even the Mayor himself at first was also confused as to what those poles (which are actually made of steel) are for. They were also a bit confused as to why it's tilted.

..huh? bakit ang architect ang nasunod. the city could have saved some money on those poles n d naman dapat ganon karami kung nagawa ng maayos. i would love to see tree lined sidewalk with interlocking pavers color red and more decorative lighiting poles not too high and distributed properly. the poles w/ double arm can be placed also in the center island.:)

After CICC, Guanzon looks forward to working on shelved projects

AFTER all the projects that architect Manuel Guanzon has tucked under his belt, the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) is not yet the icing on his cake.

“The next project is always better,” a jovial Guanzon told reporters at the CICC yesterday morning.

“Kanang akong project, every time mahuman, malipay gyud ko. And then look forward to another kalipay,” he added.

Guanzon said he is happy to be given the chance to build the structure for the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit.

“At least everybody will know now that the province of Cebu has a convention center that is at par with other convention centers,” he said.

Criticisms

The P515-million CICC was built in eight months amid criticisms from various sectors.

It was only last April when Guanzon presented to local and national officials a miniature model of the CICC during its groundbreaking ceremony.

Its planners and builders introduced flexibility as a major feature of the structure, given its functions and use during and after the Asean summit.

The CICC concept was prepared by Guanzon Architecture and Design. A careful assessment of the summit program resulted in a choice of two solid rectangular blocks connected by a luminous lobby.

Its pure geometrical form is meant to suggest the strength of the member countries.

Leaks

Just as he was at the CICC everyday during its construction, Guanzon has been inside the building since it opened last week.

When asked about the leaks inside building last Saturday, Guanzon said it is normal.

He said he is looking forward to working on the projects that he has temporarily shelved in favor of the CICC.

Two of these projects - a mall and a call center - are in Cebu while another is in Davao City.

He is thankful his clients understood him.

President Arroyo was supposed to unveil a glass panel at the main lobby of the CICC yesterday but her visit was canceled due to the typhoon.

The date etched on the glass, however, indicated Dec. 10, 2006 but Guanzon said he might not change it because he finds it “historical.”

Nevertheless, he considers putting an additional panel or text to indicate the actual date that Arroyo unveiled it.

..huh? bakit ang architect ang nasunod. the city could have saved some money on those poles n d naman dapat ganon karami kung nagawa ng maayos. i would love to see tree lined sidewalk with interlocking pavers color red and more decorative lighiting poles not too high and distributed properly. the poles w/ double arm can be placed also in the center island.:)

I don't have any idea about that. We can't also speculate that the city lost or saved money from it. Maybe there's still another reason or purpose for it because the Mayor said that it's going to be "futuristic." :dunno:

Anyway, there are sidewalks with interlocking pavers already. The development of the SRP is still ongoing though. :okay:

yes bai. i forgot the name of that floor where the spas are located.
the picture with the metro bank background is called the deadsea pool. unusual? interesting!

It's on the 16th floor. It's called Prana Medi Spa. The Dead Sea Pool is a facility available for the ladies area alone - located on the right wing of the building (Ramos side) while the men's have jacuzzis, adventure shower, oxygen room, etc. etc (located on the Jones side of the building).

Prana Medispa is one of the amenities within Club Ultima Tower. The only highrise city club in the entire Visayas and Mindanao! Something to be proud of!

Hey, why is the Skyrise Building in IT Park called "Skyrise"? It's not even that tall, just around 7 or 8 floors. Hehe... :)

I'm looking forward to IT Park getting more developed and progressive, but I kind of like the way it is now, with the mid rise-buildings at the side and the wide open field in the middle. If they develop any large buildings in the middle area, it won't seem so plaza like anymore and you wouldn't be able to see Skyrise when passing by Salinas Drive. By the way, you can actually see the Crown Regency construction from IT Park if you stand near NEC. :)

Okay.

Regarding the Ultima Residences, I guess they didn't anticipate building this condo when they designed the Fuente Towers I and II right?

Had they done so, they would have repositioned the building (Tower III) so as not to block the main facade of Tower I, which is facing westward. Or perhaps they could have made the eastern part of Tower I (the one that faces the sea) as the main facade. Frankly speaking, the building (Tower I) looks very ugly when viewed from the sea, hehehe..

To add attraction for this grandest festival, the CEBU EXECUTIVE RUNNERS CLUB, INC. would like to take part in this celebration by holding the “ 1st CEBU SINULOG MARATHON’, a 42km full marathon & 5km fun run, this coming January 14, 2007, Sunday, 6:00 a.m. at the Capitol ground, Osmena Blvd., Cebu City.

This will be the first full marathon race in Cebu in 15 years, which the sports of running needs to be promoted and brought to the public in time of the celebration of SINULOG. Hundred of footraces, students, executive, professionals and marathon enthusiasts will contend in various category. Cash prizes, trophies, medals & giveaways are up for the winners of each division.

In view of this, we are inviting you or your club to support the said event. Proceeds will be donated to the TASK FORCE STREET CHILDREN FOUNDATION. Attached herewith is the packages for your perusal.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. You must be able to complete the 42 km course in 7 hours.
2. You must be at least 18 years of age to run the full marathon.
3. You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenges of a full marathon.
4. Race numbers are required to participate.
5. All participants are required to accomplish in full an entry form with a waiver statement. Those below 18 years old are required to have the Entry Form signed by their parents or guardians.
6. Entry fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable!

42 km
Individual entry (Dec. 1, 2006 – Jan. 7, 2007) P300.00
Late entry (Jan. 8 – Jan. 13, 2007) P350.00
(Includes one free souvenir t-shirt, race number, route map and entitle a raffle draw)

5km P150.00
(Includes one singlet, race number, route map and entitle a raffle draw).

7. Race events officially end at the designated curfews. For each event, the following curfews will be observed (after which they may continue on their own if they want to finish the race):
• 42km 7 hours after official start of race
• 5km 1 hr after official start race

42km starts at 4:00A.M., Cebu Provincial Capitol Ground
5km starts at 6:00 A.M., Cebu Provincial Capitol Ground

8. All finishers in 42km & 5km race will receive the certificate of finish.
9. The official race packet will be issued one (1) week before the official race.
10. Kilometer markings will be visible at the strategic intervals.
11. All protests related to results must be made in writing and submitted within one (1) hour after the end of the race to the race organizer.
12. The organizer’s decision is final.

... Iloilo used to be the Queen City of South but Cebu took the crown...i'm not sure what year was that....

Cebu did not take the crown, it was bestowed to her by the people.

I think this issue has long been resolved.

When we were at the CICC last week to watch it's unveiling, we saw an old man (probably in his 60s) in complete marathon attire jogging his way back and forth at the Mandaue City Reclamation Area.

So maybe he was practicing for this event?

Mayor Osmeña said that these high-tech street lamps (which are being piloted in the city by a French Company) will only be installed up to Fuente Osmeña after which he will install it in the entire length of the boulevard if the Cebuanos will like it.

I think I like it and I guess he should just go on with installing it throughout the entire length of the boulevard. Much better also if he installs these on some center islands especially at the Cebu Port Center (North Reclamation Area).

Crown Regency is beginning to top off!

Notice the last few floors at the top, the vertical clearance is much different with the rest of the floors. I think this will also form part of the "crown." Notice that it's "thinner" compared with the rest of the building. :okay:

^^ ditto. i think that high-tech lamp is very cost-efficient. Aside from the fact that it cleanses itself, it also emits a very bright light enough to spill its glow in a huge radius, thus, Mayor Tom would only need a few of them along a stretch of a boulevard. These should even be installed in the SRP. :)

These new street lamps are very tall indeed. I think they're as tall as the ones at the SRP. I wonder how they would be able to put up banners whenever there's an occasion (e.g. ASEAN Summit banners). The banners would not look good too if they are installed at the lower portion; neither would it also look good if installed at the topmost part (since it would just be too high to look at) or even at the middle portion, hehe..

...if i'm not mistaken, the construction of the Cebu City Sports Complex was also rushed for the 1995 Palarong Pambansa which caught the attention of the local media and it was also very "controversial" at that time but not the same magnitude as the CICC has been getting media exposure recently...

I attended an early morning mass yesterday, and the homily is all about the 12th ASEAN Summit.

The Priest said:

"If you believe that natural occurence like typhoon can only be controlled and done by God, then God is Cebu's great, most powerful and the only important visitor, and we should postpone the 12th ASEAN Summit for that matter"

"God reminds us to reasses ourselves and be more prepared to HIS soon to come birthday. God can make Cebu the yearly venue for the ASEAN Summit if HE wants too".

before the postponement of the ASEAN Summit, the original sked of the procession was moved to 4am dawn which is usually done during the afternoon of the day.

we need a decent, and modern public tertiary/general hospital...CCMC is a poor excuse for a medical center (opinion not mine, but from a former clinical instructor who graduated from CCMC, and who refuses to use the term 'medical center' when refering to her alma mater) VSMMC is fairly decent, but IMO, it simply isnt at par with the health care facilities of those so-called 'international cities', if cebu wants to be in league with these cities/destination, then modernization of our health care delivery system and facilities should be among the first in order of priorities

2 groups eye management of Cebu convention center

Two private groups are vying for the management of the P1-billion Cebu International Convention Center, the venue of the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, to ensure the facility generates income even after the event.

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano told reporters the provincial government of Cebu and the city government of Mandaue would leave the management of the convention center to a private entity once the Asean Summit was over.

“A private entity will take care of the management of the facility,” he said.

He identified one group as represented by Yvonne Gomez, a Manila-based management consultant connected with the group of FF Cruz and the other as a Hong Kong-based consortium that is into hotel management.

“We prefer the Hong Kong-based group since it has more expertise when it comes to management of facilities like the CICC.” He declined to provide other details.

Ouano said the convention center, which has a gross floor area of 2.8 hectares, was comparative to the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila and was ideal for expositions, fairs, conferences and other events.

It will provide an alternative and bigger venue for events that require a large space. Before its construction, conventions and similar events were held in the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, which is owned by plastics king William Gatchalian.

“The CICC will boost the bid of the province of Cebu and that of Mandaue City to become a convention destination in the south. At present, Waterfront Lahug is not large enough to accommodate big events like the Asean Summit.”

Every year, we say that this year's Sinulog Festival is the grandest. So every year, it will be grander than the previous year :colgate:

Btw, the Christmas decorations hung on the new lampposts here in Lapu-Lapu City were taken off! Hmmm, I hope it was just a preventive measure for Typhoon Seniang and that they'll just put them up again :)

wa jud ko nag lisod mag binisaya Jhael :) pero i`ll humor u na lang.. :) went back na diri sa Iloilo after 6 yrs in Cebu. Ang kapait kay pagbalik nako diri, di na pud ko litok mag Inilonggo. Nya dia pa jud, akong counter for Iloilo and Negros, puro pud bisaya. Tiga Toledo. Am contemplating of going back didto kay na, Cebu got to me...... in short di na mawala sa akong system :lol:

one thing to be learned from this postponed ASEAN meet. hindi dapat masyadong bilib sa sarili. ambisyoso kasi masyado. its very nakakahiya for the international media and guests, and now it left cebu with the lowest hotel occupancy rate ever. its busted!

Looks like that is happening to me right now. Sa Iloilo, ang ako nga Hiligaynon is sagol na sa Cebuano. Pag naa man ko diri Cebu, ang Cebuano nako morag Ilonggo. ahahay.... :D

There's a new tambayan in Town.. It's GV HOTEL, 7th Floor (main hotel lobby with balcony and outdoor coffee shoppe). The hotel workers are very hospitable and accommodating.

Food is very, very cheap compared with Ayala FGU and the view is far more nicer too! (Coffee is only P35, Clubhouse Sandwich at P75.)

You're statement "Wag Masyadong Bilib sa Sarili" is actually not applicable in this situation. The reason why the ASEAN Summit was postponed was due to a typhoon and NOT DUE to a mishandling or screwing up of the Cebuanos on the event. It was something that was out of our control since it's mother nature. Aside from that, the ASEAN Summit postponement was decided by the National Government after consultations with ASEAN member countries. :okay:

"Wag Masyadong Bilib sa Sarili" would only apply if the ASEAN Summit was postponed because the CICC perhaps collapsed or that the Cebu Province screwed it up (like the local organizing committee didn't practice properly for the cultural shows, or food was not delivered thus the summit was cancelled, etc.). :okay:

Here's the view from GV Tower Hotel, 7th Floor. I was with Tj_brewed and Rage-Cebu. I texted the others to come but I didn't receive any reply :D :D Hehe..

- This was taken from the balcony where there are tables and chairs. The 7th floor is actually the main hotel lobby. The hotel looks very decent and clean despite the cheap rates and I guess we should have many of these here in Cebu in order to attract more tourists (in Malaysia, a high rise hotel that looks like 5-star charges around $80 per night. Here in Cebu, the hotel rates can reach as much as $250 per night. :bash:)

- I was only able to take a few photos since my phone battery went dead. Sorry for the quality too since these were shot using a phonecam. The balcony actually offers a 180 degrees view of Metro Cebu. :okay:

- Food is cheap (compared with others that also offer a nice city view) and I think we can hangout at this hotel anytime we like (e.g. Chicken Sandwich is P50, Juice is P25, Coffee w/ Cream is P35, Clubhouse Sandwich is P75). Hotel staff including the security guard at the ground floor are very, very accommodating.

- Parking is not a problem since they have a basement.

- The hotel has a function room at the topmost floor. Just a while ago, a Christmas Party was going on.
