ExWNY'er May 14th, 2008, 06:34 PM San Francisco is a good restaurant town too
Spoolmak May 15th, 2008, 09:02 AM I was gonna say, `Wheres San FranciscoÉ`
ExWNY'er May 15th, 2008, 07:38 PM I'm going to be up in Vancouver on business in mid June. This will be my first visit and I am really looking forward to it. Does anyone here have any good recommendations for restaurants and bars to check out?
Taller, Better May 15th, 2008, 08:46 PM Vij's is a must-go for anyone who likes Indian food. It is just about the best I have
ever had in my life. Vancouver is blessed with two huge advantages for foodies... lots of wonderful fresh garden market produce, and of course lots of fresh fish. Those are two
things chefs just love to have at their fingertips! :)

Gotham Steakhouse if you're into steak.
vancouverite/to'er May 15th, 2008, 10:45 PM Hmm I wonder how much of Toronto they covered? Probably a 200m perimeter of the CN tower.
Anyways glad to hear Vancouver made the list with so much tough competition. I'd recommend the restaurant at Van Dusen gardens in Shaughnessy. Great quality, lots of local ingredients. If you're on a real tight buget try Yopo a chinese phone-booth sized restaurant on Homer street in Yaletown. Brilliant little place!
If you've got $300.00 to blow try La Terrazza on Pacific. One of the three best Italian restaurants in the city with the best wine list!
I've heard Toronto's Scaramouche and Sassafraz are great if you're travelling there.

Try the cannery for seafood, pick local items. Commercial Drive also has a few good restaurants with decent prices.
ssiguy2 May 16th, 2008, 07:25 AM I can't believe Vancouver made the list and Montreal didn't and neither did San Fransisco. Also, from everything I've heard Melbourne is Australia's culinary capitol.
I'm surprised Buenos Aires, Milan, and Amsterdam didn't make the list as well.
Yellow Fever May 16th, 2008, 07:31 AM No offence to the people of San Francisco, but their chinese food suck! Sorry!
I am surprised that Montreal is not on the list.
Taller, Better May 16th, 2008, 06:10 PM Internationally, "Food Culture" has transformed rapidly over the past couple of decades, and magazines like Food and Wine will tend to reward cities that are keeping up with the times and creating new and exciting food. Lists like this are highly subjective, of course, but I think they did a pretty good job with this one.
