El proyecto, que lleva por nombre Fundadores, es un desarrollo de uso mixto creado por la sociedad conformada por Orange Investments y el Grupo CIM, empresa originaria de Los Ángeles, California.

La torre Fundadores podría empezarse a edificar a finales de 2008, contemplándose que, cuando esté totalmente terminada, posea alrededor de 60,000 m2 de superficie construida.

El proyecto consiste en 2 torres altas, la primera de oficinas y la segunda con condominios, teniendo locales comerciales en la planta baja de ambas torres. Se contempla la inclusión de un estacionamiento subterráneo con capacidad para 2,000 vehículos.

Orange Investments informó que en febrero pasado, en conjunto con Grupo CIM, contrataron para el proyecto al diseñador norteamericano David Rockwell, quien ha concebido los desarrollos W Hoteles, Nobu Restaurants, Teatro Kodak, entre otros.

Así mismo, contrataron los servicios del arquitecto Enrique Norten, autor del Museo Chopo, Parques Polanco, quien también ha recibido el reconocimiento Leonardo DaVinci, premio mundial de artes por el Consejo Cultural Mundial en 2005.

-Se edificará sobre un predio de 12,185 m2.
-El desarrollo contendrá 236 departamentos

-Tendrá 12,000 m2 de área comercial

-Contará con 23,000 m2 de área de oficina

Right behind Galerias Valle Oriente Mall--it looks like the land where is planned to be built is in San Pedro, but it's actually on the Monterrey side. So, it's official, this one would be Monterrey's tallest building and it would be surrounded by other good projects. :banana:

Good one, i hope they can build it. Monterrey is very beautiful with all that cerros (mountains) crossing the urban sprawl. It just need some height.

Planned as a mix use building, this project known temporary as Torre Fundadores, in Valle Oriente, will have 70 floors and a height of approximately 290 meters.

Con esto dejará abajo al proyecto de la Torre Reforma, que se pretenda mida 244 metros, en la Ciudad de México, y a la Torre Mayor, actualmente el edificio más alto en América Latina, con 224 metros, también en la Ciudad de México.


This project, will leave Torre Reforma in Mexico City down in hight with 244 meters, and Torre Mayor, the current Latin American tallest building also with 244 meters


"Les vamos a ganar. Va a ser el edificio más alto de Latinoamérica", señaló Norten, quien el fin de semana estuvo en Monterrey en reunión de trabajo con el equipo que realizará el proyecto. "Es un rascacielos, un edificio muy importante para cualquier ciudad del mundo".

La inversión aproximada para el rascacielos regiomontano será de 120 millones de dólares, aportados por un grupo de inversionistas privados, mexicanos y estadounidenses, liderados por los regiomontanos José Villarreal y Carlos Rousseau, a través de Orange Investment. The Mexican city of Monterrey could soon have a funky new skyscraper adorning its skyline if proposals put forward by Spanish group Orange Investors and Americans Group CIM are given the green-light.

Working with Enrique Norton of Mexican architectural firm TEN Architects along with another local architect Alberto Vidal and American designer David Rockwell, the team has come up with a rather spiffing skyscraper named Torre Fundadores or Founders Tower for the non Spanish speaking folk out there.

If built the tower will stand at 230 metres and have 54 floors not including underground levels that will house 2000 car parking spaces.

The scheme stands on an elongated podium base which has an almost wave like glass roof that culminates in a curve at the far end of the podium.

White concrete defines the shape of the podium that is colonnaded and semi glazed at its front. The podium directly under the towers stands a little higher than the other part of the podium and features green areas.

From this podium the towers rise upwards in an sweeping fashion on one side and straight upwards on the other side in a boxy kind of way. Here once more, white concrete is used to define shape and makes the tower look like it is a lopsided A shape with a hint of a twist. Thankfully, the architects have displayed amazing self control and resisted the urge to top the towers with any sort of height boosting aerials.

If built the tower will be a multi use complex. The podium will house all the fun stuff such as restaurants, cafes and a retail element while the tower will house 12,000 square metres of grade A office space, 236 luxury apartments.

Nueva York, Estados Unidos (10/6/2008).- Hacer carrera como arquitecto es un trabajo que toma toda la vida, algo que Enrique Norten tiene muy claro.

El haber sido el primer latinoamericano en recibir el Premio Mies van der Rohe 1998 no fue cosa de un día, ni tampoco el haber abierto su taller TEN Arquitectos en Nueva York, en el 2001, o haberse ganado importantes proyectos como el Guggenheim de Guadalajara, la Biblioteca de Brooklyn y la reconstrucción de la rivera en Nuevo Orleans.

Tampoco será cosa de un día llevar estos importantes proyectos del papel a la realidad, y es precisamente ese proceso el que el arquitecto mexicano tratará de comunicar a los regiomontanos a través de la exposición "InTENciones", que se inaugura en Marco el viernes 4 de julio.

El reconocido arquitecto a nivel internacional estará ligado a Monterrey por dos grandes proyectos. Además de la expo, construirá aquí el que será el edificio más alto de América Latina: un inmueble de usos mixtos que lleva el nombre provisional de Torre Fundadores, en Valle Oriente.

El edificio tendrá más de 70 pisos y una altura de alrededor de 290 metros.

Una primera proyección de cómo se verá se difunde por primera vez en la invitación que anuncia la expo en Marco.

La inversión aproximada es de 120 millones de dólares, que serán aportados por inversionistas privados, mexicanos y estadounidenses, encabezados por los regios José Villarreal y Carlos Rousseau, de Orange Investment.

'InTENciones'

"La gente tiene una concepción extraña de lo que es el proceso de hacer arquitectura. Un poco de lo que me interesa mostrar no es tanto obra terminada, que es también parte de mi trabajo (y sinceramente, la que menos me interesa ahora), sino los procesos para llegar a desarrollar ciertos proyectos, el momento presente de éstos, proyectos que están en distintos momentos de su gestación", dice el arquitecto entrevistado en su taller.

"InTENciones" surge no sólo de la gran amistad que Norten tiene con Nina Zambrano, presidenta del Consejo de directores de Marco, sino de la intención de la Galería Aedes, dedicada a la arquitectura y al urbanismo, de exhibir su trabajo.

"Estaban buscando socios para hacer la exposición y Marco se enteró de este esfuerzo", dice Norten.

La muestra, que abarcará toda la parte alta del espacio cultural, dice Norten, será mucho más exhaustiva que la que se planeó con la galería alemana, en donde arquitectos de la talla de Zaha Hadid, Thom Mayne, Daniel Libeskind, Frank Gehry o Rem Koolhas han exhibido su trabajo.

Esta idea conjunta que diseñó Norten junto con las mentes creativas de Marco se lleva a cabo por ambos equipos, con experiencia en el tema, pues fue precisamente este arquitecto el encargado del diseño museográfico de la exposición "El Imperio Azteca", que se presentó en el Museo Guggenheim de Nueva York.

Aunque la expo incluirá fotos de obra terminada, adelanta que será sólo para dar una idea a la gente que no conozca su lenguaje arquitectónico.

Arquitecto del mundo

Desde que Norten abrió su taller en Nueva York, no sólo el volumen y calidad de sus proyectos han aumentado, sino que pasó de ser un arquitecto mexicano a uno global.

"Yo sigo pensando que Nueva York es una de las grandes capitales y lo que te permiten estas ciudades, precisamente, es poder trabajar a nivel global, lo que desafortunadamente México no me daba.

"Yo quiero mucho a la Ciudad de México y tengo un gran compromiso con ella, pero no me daba las posibilidades de trabajar globalmente", dice.

"Por un lado, estar construyendo lo que estamos construyendo en Nueva York es muy importante para nosotros; por otro lado, desde Nueva York podemos trabajar al resto del mundo.

"Y por otro lado, desafortunadamente, que es algo que sucede en nuestros países, es que el éxito que estamos teniendo en Nueva York también nos ha abierto muchas oportunidades en nuestro propio País".

El arquitecto Hugh Hardy, miembro del jurado que seleccionó su propuesta, que actualmente realiza Norten para la Universidad de Rutgers en Nueva Jersey, lo confirma.

"El hecho de que tenga una oficina en Nueva York le da acceso a más proyectos en los Estados Unidos, aparte tiene una fuerza de trabajo en Nueva York, tiene un gran equipo.

"Yo lo veo como un arquitecto, un arquitecto contemporáneo; sí, viene de México; sí, habla español, pero ¿qué diferencia hace?".

Le da a Monterrey un vistazo crítico

Amante y observador de las ciudades "llenas de sorpresas", como Nueva York o la Ciudad de México, Enrique Norten, quien por primera vez trabajará en Monterrey en el proyecto de la que será la torre más alta de América Latina, dice sentirse sorprendido.

"Monterrey es una ciudad única, que tiene mucha admiración por los modelos equivocados *con todo respeto* o por lo menos así ha sido en el pasado", expresa Norten.

"Siempre hubieran querido ser Dallas o Houston, en lugar de imitar a otras ciudades con más consistencia, lo que ha llevado a una planeación extraña.

"Sigue siendo ese sueño americano de hace 50 años de ser la ciudad del automóvil. Si no está pensada así, si no planeada, así está soñada", comenta con un punto de vista firme, pero respetuoso en extremo.

"Lo que a mí me ha sorprendido mucho es que hay gente muy joven, una nueva generación de regios, viajados, muy bien educados, que entienden realmente las condiciones de hacer ciudad y que entienden las condiciones de densidad, de congestión, y que están buscando hacer otro tipo de proyectos que no hay en Monterrey".

De su nuevo proyecto en Valle Oriente, llamado provisionalmente Torre Fundadores, que tendrá más de 70 pisos y medirá 290 metros de altura (superando la Torre Reforma y la Torre Mayor, ambas en el DF), Norten afirma desconocer si contribuirá a cambiar la Ciudad.

"No lo sé, porque no es un esfuerzo de un solo proyecto. Es un esfuerzo de una comunidad y de la visión de una ciudad de querer ser de otra manera.

"Pero sí hay una energía donde la gente de Monterrey se da cuenta que tiene la capacidad de ser mucho más universal, de ser más cosmopolita y participar uno a uno en el discurso global de las ciudades.

"Eso es muy importante", agrega, "poder de alguna manera desprenderse de condiciones políticas del país para empezar a tener una personalidad global de ciudad como tal".

Mmm, i liked more the first render, but it still has a very good design,
and would be the tallest building in Monterrey, considering all the towers
around that don't exceed the 200 meters.

Awesome tower BUT the location seems like the least indicated for such a building. Not only is it completely out of place, it appears to be planned for some suburban style area with what appears to be a mall directly across the "street". I always hated this type of planning (if we can even call it planning in the first place)which is wide spread in many developing countries. It's too bad because this builiding really would've looked great in a more urban, downtown sorta atmosphere. Till then...

The Museo de Arte contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO), Mexico, presents TEN Arquitectos from July 3rd to October 2008. The exhibition presents thirtyfive of TEN Arquitectos projects created by the Mexican architect Enrique Norten. TEN Arquitectos has received numerous awards, such as those that will be on view in this exhibition.

The documentation, that serves to both register and prove that the different variations of the box introduce ways of transforming the space according to the project, form part of the show giving equal importance to all phases of the process: sketches, drawings and maquettes, images of analogous things, and plan or structure analyses are presented in a way similar to the maquettes and presentation images.

TEN Arquitectos works with diverse scales and topologies, including furniture design, single-family apartments and houses, residential, commercial and cultural buildings, parks, urban design and redevelopment projects. Amongst TEN Arquitectos' most recognized projects are the Guggenheim Guadalajara and Hotel HABITA, Mexico, and now Torre Fundadores, this will be over 70 floors and about 290 meters high.

MARCO, created by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, is one of Latin America 's leading cultural centers, which targets its efforts at promoting international contemporary art, with a particular bent towards Latin American visual arts.

El proyecto consiste en 2 torres altas, la primera de oficinas y la segunda con condominios, teniendo locales comerciales en la planta baja de ambas torres. Se contempla la inclusión de un estacionamiento subterráneo con capacidad para 2,000 vehículos.

Orange Investments informó que en febrero pasado, en conjunto con Grupo CIM, contrataron para el proyecto al diseñador norteamericano David Rockwell, quien ha concebido los desarrollos W Hoteles, Nobu Restaurants, Teatro Kodak, entre otros.

Así mismo, contrataron los servicios del arquitecto Enrique Norten, autor del Museo Chopo, Parques Polanco, quien también ha recibido el reconocimiento Leonardo DaVinci, premio mundial de artes por el Consejo Cultural Mundial en 2005.

-El desarrollo contendrá 236 departamentos

-Tendrá 12,000 m2 de área comercial

-Contará con 23,000 m2 de área de oficina

-Se contempla la inclusión de un hotel de 100 habitaciones y suites de largas estancias.
