GIBO IS THE TOP CHOICE OF MOST STUDENTS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN MOST MOCK POLLS NATIONWIDE

^^how come he's not doing well in the surveys conducted by abs-cbn? hehehe i guess their surveys came from the opposing groups. but honestly i tried my own survey, during the christmas party with family and friends (hehehe)... and guess what? i think you're right, Gibo topped the list.

I just love his youthful grin. I guess corruption is not an issue nowadays because in the first place Gibo hasn't been proven as a corrupt person. And besides, the early lifting of Martial Law in Maguindanao proves that the Arroyo administration isn't really that brazen to follow the examples of Marcos. So I feel safer now with Gibo. The situation with Marcos before and the present situations are just different. I guess Gibo just have to make more efforts to be more visible, and for his message to be heard more.

Hehehe... sorry guys but I'm not for Gibo. Based on performance I opt for Dick Gordon, though not really a popular choice, or with Manny Villar, even though the C3/4 (?) controversy has clouded his reputation. My choice is down between the two.

For Gibo, he might be a good person as he is projecting but I still want more from him. Jumping from a Defense Secretary to a President seems to be a long leap for me. I want to see impressive results on his performance, perhaps as a legislator, for me to be convinced that he is deserving to be president. Being smart is out of the question, Philippines already had a lot of smart presidents in the past, some of them are even top lawyers. Marcos for instance, was on top of his class at the bar exam, yet he became too smart for the good of the country. I want results based on performance and not just on paper.

ABS-CBN is biased. If you would really take a look on the way they report, there's always a slant towards Noynoy. On their year end Wagi/Lugi report, its very obvious they how they had built up Noynoy. As for Noynoy, he is one of whom Conrado de Quiro's had qouted as the "lucky ones", together with Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Ramon Magsaysay Jr., and Pia Cayetano, whose ascendancy in the political arena was due largely because of popular parents. Noynoy only came in to the presidential picture after the death of Cory and he is banking heavily on the legacy of his parents. As for his performance as senator, not much I could say. The legacy of his parents is not a birthright, he should earn it.

I'm not persuading anyone to vote against Gibo or Noynoy as each has its own reason in seeing the goodness of a person. Different strokes for different folks.

Happy New Year guys!

I believe Noynoy has to prove himself first. and besides I don't really like how he talks on TV. It seems he lacks conviction, mirroring his lack of experience, and perhaps naivety. His gestures are not really presidential, and he lacks the depth of a good executive. His figurehead is not needed nowadays too. I want a president who can perform and who has shown perfprmance, not just am inheritor of political birth right (if there is such a thing as this). Gordon and Villar are some of the people who have made their marks, though the latter has been tainted a little. But I believe he can deliver.

Gordon has proven himself with the transformation of Subic Bay. I hope Filipinos will become more educated and not just choose who is the more popular in choosing their leaders.

maybe ABS-CBN is torn between Aquino and Villar...

while its pretty obvious that most talents in the entertainment division na malapit kay kris are for Noynoy Aquino, a rumor has spread like wildfire across ABS-CBN newsroom after Luchi Cruz-Valdez left, and that has something to do with her disclosure to the upper management about Maria Ressa's alleged affiliation with a group that was involved in Villar's "image building". :bash:

^^this what i noticed with Noynoy Aquino, when a question is raised about a certain issue, he seems to be ready but when he starts talking... oh it's so wander-full... mag wonder ka tuloy and you'll end up wanting to ask him... are you serious? (hehehe). about Manny Villar, i don't know what this means... "para maiahon sa hirap"... he's been using this slogan since 2001... na fulfill ba nya?

I was actually a little disappointed when Mar Roxas gave way to Noynoy. He would have been one of the most prepared presidentiables. I could attest to his good performance as he was one of those who jumpstarted the boom of the IT industry (he was then the DTI Secretary), and pronounced Dumaguete as one of the more promising IT hubs. I remembered attending an IT conference with him as the speaker.

Even Makati Business Club and the UP community, both known to be critics of the administration, opted for Gibo in their respective mock polls. Enrile as well, known to be an ally of Erap, said that Gibo is his top choice.. :)

I like Gordon as well because of what he has done with Subic.. He is a transformational leader.. Gibo, on the other hand, knows what he is talking about.. It's Gibo/Gordon for president, and BF for vp for me.. Lantawon ra nako kinsa sa ila duha ang competitive sa surveys sa later part of the election period.. :)

At daytime, natural light dominates the whole mall eliminating additional electrical expenses from lighting fixtures. The ceilings may look warehouse-ish but it definitely adds personality, taste and sophistication of the mall as a whole since they are not left out to look industrial.

about the "The Gustavian" nga pala sa robinsons, when siguro ito mag open, any idea? i'm curious on how their food taste (hehehe)... na google ko and found out that they served European food pala. but we have Le Chalet here, some Swiss and German friends i know says that the food in Le Chalet taste good. and i think that's the reason why most foreigners go there to dine. they have this steak called "maitre de hotel" or "hotel de maitre" (whatever), it really taste good...

They still open 9am to 9pm except for sunday nights na 8pm lang.

i see. pero dapat palitan nila yun schedule nila na naka dikit sa mga pintuan, 10am - 8:00pm parin eh. oh btw regarding the movieworld? i think the size of each theater is just enough. because i noticed sa mga big movie houses, hindi naman talaga puno all the time, so, sayang lang ang aircon mo tapos konti lang pala ang manuno-od. dito sa robinsons, ok lang siya, around 187 seats? (17 seats per row x 11 rows- binilang ko talaga hehehe), tapos 3/4 full siya most of the time... btw, ive been there 3 times na and ganoon siya around 3/4 full.

and hey, after the July building? next is... (drum roll please!)... dumaguete business park!! full scale development na. this was revealed by the owners of DBP.

i just saw the news headlines tonight... and the news was about Efren P. and Angel Locsin. i said to myself... wow! (hehehe)

Chorus:
Some guys have all the luck
Some guys have all the pain
Some guys get all the breaks
Some guys do nothing but complain

Alone in a crowd on a bus after work
and I'm dreaming
The guy next to me has a girl in his arms
My arms are empty
How does it feel when the girl next to you
says she loves you
It seem so unfair when there's love everywhere
but there's none for me
(repeat chorus)

Actually, the three theaters do not have the same seating capacity. I was informed by one of the crew that the biggest is cinema 2 with more than 200 seats. The second is cinema 3 then the smallest yet has the best dolby surround system is cinema 1..:)

and hey, after the July building? next is... (drum roll please!)... dumaguete business park!! full scale development na. this was revealed by the owners of DBP.

This entry/exit point (encircled in violet) that leads to Rob through the back is already finished since last week! However, it is still not open to the public.. So, this is really it!!!!!...:) Start na full swing development sa Dumaguete Business Park and IT Plaza!!

How come I'm not surprised the main news today is Ultra Vision. I was there, as we have nieces at the building next to it on Cervantes.

The movie theater had closed due to Rob's, plus the permits to renew for the coming year are due this week. It is so obvious, howcome the authorities don't question the origins of the fire? Everyone who has posted on here seems to believe the same thing.

We'll just have to wait and see what will come in it's place. Maybe the plans have already been designed before the fire, hehehe. It is the second theater to burn on that block; in the 80's Dove theater burned down on the same block on Cervantes.

BTW Nicko, I didn't see Maybank (near the post office) on your list. They are just renovating.

The center island, just my opinion, is a waste of space. They could have placed more parking space for the customers. Although, nindot tanawon sa mata, it is not so practical. I guess customers have to find parking somewhere else.

^^ Savemore is not even a "mini-mall" type... its a smaller version of SM Supermarket with a "takal-takal" section where you can buy items found in wet markets at small quantities... but it usually has Watsons drug store express counter and "Bills Payment" counter. Some have BDO ATM as well.

Before, SM Supercenter was proposed for Dumaguete, I wonder why they shifted with their plans.

Thats true. However, administrators are hesitant to put down that tree probably because that has been in that area even before the hospital was put up... Sentimental reasons? Hmm.. Or perhaps aesthetic. That tree is one of the most beautiful i have seen.. And a green patch in a hospital helps a lot for therapeutic purposes, too..

I think a Savemore / Supercenter is SM's way of testing the market. If it clicks, then they will have to go head to head with Robinsons. The area also needs a decent supermarket to cater from those coming from the north since Robs cater mostly from the south..

^^imagine, it's beside st. paul university, one of the biggest and oldest school we have. most hacienderos sent their children to st. paul's. and bantayan btw has 3 hotels, plus, you have there city homes. and if silliman is willing to give up portion of their beach in bantayan, then it's nice if they can have a port there in bantayan... that will ferry directly people from the southern towns of cebu (Oslob, Santander, Alcoy, Dalaguete, etc.) to shop here in dumaguete, or SM bantayan.

Nice location.....pero ka duol sa airport.... di ba langas ra kaayo..heheheheh..... by the way...naay news for our airport renovation?..... kay makalolo-oy kaayo atong airport....maunhan ta sa tacloban...nice kaau ang ilang airport if marealize siya......naunsa man ang dumaguete....

Endangered tree species planted in Negros schools (http://mb.com.ph/articles/237178/endangered-tree-species-planted-negros-schools)
January 6, 2010, 3:54pm

Geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation took its BINHI: Tree for the Future project to the uplands of Bago City and Murcia town in Negros Occidental with a marathon tree planting activity held in nine schools recently.

The host schools which are also EDC's partners in delivering quality public school education in the area willingly provided planting spaces inside their campuses for endangered and premium Philippine tree species such as akle, almaciga, betis, igem, molave, nato, supa, and yakal-saplungan.

The tree species are the subject of the preservation effort of the BINHI: Tree for the Future project, which aims to rescue and secure the gene pool of the country’s endangered premium trees by planting and growing their seedlings into so-called “mother trees” in school grounds, public parks, and other safe havens. These mother trees would later on produce the seeds that will be used in future forestation projects.

School officials, teachers, parents and students joined hands with EDC employees in planting 100 seedlings of the above-mentioned tree species at the San Miguel Elementary School, F. Barandiaran Elementary School, Minoyan Elementary School, and Minoyan National High School in Murcia; and C. A. Dormido Elementary School, Mailum Elementary School, R. M. Araneta Elementary School, R&S Abindan Elementary School, and Ramon Torres Louisiana National High School in Bago City.

The two local government units host EDC’s Northern Negros Geothermal Production Field.

EDC’s goal is to bring the project in all 81 provinces of the country within three years. It has partnered with the Department of Education, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and LGUs to expedite project implementation. The company has already brought the project to Quezon City, Taguig City, Laguna and Leyte this year.

Apart from Tree for the Future, BINHI has three other modules, namely: Tree for Life (for bridging gaps of critical forest areas), Tree for Food (for livelihood of forest settlers) and Tree for Leisure (for ecotourism).

Don't you know that Dumaguete Airport's renovation has already started since the ASEAN was held in Cebu? It's done by phases. The first one was the improvement of the security fences around the airport perimeter.. Then others came along.. The latest development is the completion of the night landing facilities which cost millions. Not all domestic airports has this facility. What they are doing right now is thinking on the runway extension and how they go about it.. Kung paingon ba sa dagat or paingon sa mountains.. Lisud-lisud since wala nay area ang airport.

how about that angtay golf area? ...this one was the latest i heard about SM... mm not sure too if payments were made already. but i like the area tho (hehehe).

NOOO!!! It's the only golf course within the city imo pa kuhaon? Ayaw pod!... It's a status symbol baya.. We have three golf courses in our place and golf is played by the rich people! So meaning dghan jud dato dri coz kusug man ang golf.. And i don't think the owners of AngTay Golf Course are giving up their business even if SM would give them a good offer coz ila man gani gi renovate ila golf course lately.. Naa nay renovation sa entrance area and sa restaurant.

But I don't think people would still go there to shop...I mean it's only a supermarket thingy..... kung ako sa akong side...i'd rather choose Robinsons kay aside from the supermarket...naa pay department store and some other boutiques....it's all in one.... layo pa jud ang location unya supermarket lang.......

I think people will still go there whatever it may be (a supermarket / supercenter / hypermarket / savemore) since para sa mga taga-north, Rob is too far for them to do shopping esp to those who will only do their groceries and nothing else.... Im sure adtoon ghpon na. Look at LP Hypermart.. It's in Bagacay pero people still go there to do their grocery shopping. The area where SM is supposed to be is a nice location, IMO, since its located in a residential area where most people living are moneyed. And just a stones-throw away is the downtown district na.. I tried driving myself towards the area and its not that far. Tuyuon man gani adto sa mga tawo ang Gimmik resto, unsa na kaha kung SM na brand? Coz actually, cheaper man gyud sa SM... So if SM is really going to be there, then its good. Wala na man pod lain lugar nga duol sa downtown..:)

if you look at the trend ngayon sa mga malls, the latest na finish is greenbelt 5, it's very nice, similar to ayala cebu terraces but bigger, and has more trees and fountains. the golf course would easily fit in to the idea, right? bagay siya na magiging country style mall kung meh golf course siya, plus you have the mojon creek (actually it's like a river now} crossing the golf course... that's a very nice mall to look at, more green (like a little paradise). if you go to Singapore, mga buildings nila meh mga garden na. clean and green environment na tayo ngayon hehehe.

At daytime, natural light dominates the whole mall eliminating additional electrical expenses from lighting fixtures. The ceilings may look warehouse-ish but it definitely adds personality, taste and sophistication of the mall as a whole since they are not left out to look industrial.

That's true, Vince. But for me, i don't want to sacrifice AngTay, the only Golf course within the center of the city, just for a mall. If SM or other mall would really wanna put up such mall within a garden type setting and they have strong intentions of really doing it, they could recreate it since they have the full capacity to do that. I don't play golf pero lisud na ipangita lain space to have a perfect Golf course location anymore that is within the city.. Pero ang mall, they could have it anywhere and create such ambiance if they want to..:) Sayangan lang ko..:) Pero i am confident that AngTay wont give up their land for a mall...:)

okay. but if they can put up a mall that has a golf course in it, then why not? anyway the golf course is located only at the back, and the angtay property is around 12ha. i think they still have enough room to construct the store in front, along rovira drive, or another front along the national highway (city limit area).

just like Wack-Wack towers in mandaluyung?, although it is a condo but it has a golf course also... and it's nice too.

i don't know if this is true, but rumors circulating around that area that SM made a down payment already... either you take it or leave it. (hehehe) the reason? very few people are playing golf, so the owners opted to sell their property.

The whole area where the Ayala Mall Cebu sits was part of the Club Filipino Golf course. So it's possible the AngTay golf course may go.

The Wack-Wack Golf course in Mandaluyong is another story. It was there long before the Wack-Wack Towers was built and many members are the bigshots/the who's who of Manila, maybe to the rest of the country.

I was thinking about that too (about the tree having sentimental value or for aesthetic reasons). All things considered, I still think the designer/architect could have done better about the parking space. It's a medical center, you gotta have parking.

i see... and that's a possibility too.

what i like with the angtay property is that it has a live creek (mojon creek) croosing the area, thus, it would be a positive factor for the would be investor, specifically for the sanitary waste water of any proposed building later on, but of course they should have a proper treatment facility for that.

another thing, the location is very strategic, it caters to most cities in the north of negros and even the southern towns of cebu (in less than an hour trip) without reaching downtown dumaguete, mas less hassle.

sana nga totoo at matuloy na ito... :)

I have been to a lot of airports around the country, and I mean a lot, and in my observation, it is DGT that has really improved by leaps and bounds in just over a year. The only thing left to do now, for the terminal that is, is to have the check-in area airconditioned. Credit to the airport management.

Thousands avail of electrical installation loan program of Valencia, Negros Oriental (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=251580)

DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 8 (PNA) – At least 3,000 families of Valencia, Negros Oriental have availed of its Electrical Installation Loan Program.

The program aims to help indigent families who cannot afford to purchase electrical materials and the initial cost of installation and connection.

Vice Mayor Diodoro Olasiman said the families were chosen based on a recent assessment survey made before the end of 2009.

He said the program was implemented several years ago but due to lack of information, not too many people in Valencia were aware of it.

The village councils are tasked to make the assessment and recommendation for the families who are applying for the program.

Olasiman said the local government will spend for the materials and installation cost which shall be charged later to the monthly electric subsidy for the households.

Valencia residents are enjoying a P700 monthly power subsidy from royalty fees paid by the Energy Development Corporation for harnessing the town’s geothermal resources.

The vice mayor said P50 shall be collected from each household’s electric subsidy for those who have availed of the electrical installation loan program. (PNA)

Businessman dares LGUs to provide modern firefighting equipment to BFP (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=251571)

DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 8 (PNA) – A Filipino-Chinese businessman in Dumaguete, Roy Cang, has challenged local government units (LGUs) to purchase sophisticated firefighting equipment for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to boost the agency’s performance in responding to fire incidents.

The call came following Tuesday’s midday fire that razed a multi-level business establishment in downtown Dumaguete which lasted for several hours as firemen had difficulty containing the blaze due to lack of necessary equipment.

The fire was contained indoors as the building was totally concrete except for the interior. However, the lack of breathing apparatus and other equipment prevented firemen from penetrating the building which housed two movie theaters.

Cang, who worked as a volunteer of the Chinese Fire Brigade, lauded the immediate response of fire volunteers groups and BFP fire trucks and workers from neighboring towns and cities.

He stressed the need for fire fighting capability because it would also ensure safety of the fire fighters and volunteers.

Cang said back then, when he was still a fire volunteer, fire fighting equipment were expensive but nowadays they are already reasonably priced and affordable.

At least five volunteer groups responded to the fire incident at the Ultra Vision Cinema building last Tuesday, namely, the Filipino-Chinese Fire Volunteers, Solon, Lee Plaza, Sibulan Fire Volunteers and Silliman University Fire Brigade.

Other BFP stations that responded to the fire alarm were those of Valencia, Tanjay, San Jose and Amlan. (PNA)

2. NarraSupport - Call Center
3. SPI Technologies - Non Voice - Publishing

NarraSupport is a BPO/KPO for the non profit sector, while SPi has been referred to as a BPO/KPO outfit, notches higher than voice based callcenters.

There is also Lease-Seo (http://www.lease-a-seo-com (http://www.lease-a-seo.com), the virtual assistant firm near the Provincial Hospital and many others. Indeed Dumaguete's IT industry is consistently growing and thriving, quite an anomaly for a small city.

Top World and SEAT are different firms but dealing with the same field, travel.

Correct! Two ongoing constructions at the back of Silliman Medical Center Main Bldg. It looks like they are not yet satisfied with the Medical Arts Bldg as SMC is still keeps on expanding. With NOPH new 4-storey building, it looks like the hospitals of Dumaguete are getting bigger and better.

Silliman University receives grant from World Bank
PNA (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=251858)

DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 11 (PNA) -- Silliman University in Dumaguete City is among five recipients of the "Panibagong Paraan" knowledge sharing grant of the World Bank.

Titled “Multi-Sectoral Forum and Proposal Development on Investing on Young Minds for Household Solutions to Climate Change,” Silliman’s project will bring together in dialogues and link students to representatives of key sectors: academe, government, media, private sector and civil society, said SU director of Information and Publication Mark Raygan Garcia.

The project aims to generate proposals from college students on developing and adopting practical and cost-efficient home-, school- or community-based climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, Garcia said in a press release.

These proposals will be screened and endorsement for eventual funding.

Silliman is partnering with two other universities in the Visayas on this project: Central Philippine University in Iloilo and University of San Carlos in Cebu.

It will be launched with a moderated panel discussion featuring climate change experts and World Bank officials, among them, Silliman President Dr. Ben S. Malayang III, who is concurrently member of the Presidential Task Force on Climate Change, and World Bank Country Director Mr. Bert Hofman.

CPU and USC will be connected to Silliman via video conference during the launching. The launching is a prelude to the dialogues that the three universities will conduct on their respective campuses to feature local climate change initiatives and inspire more the students in the development of their respective proposals. Discussions will involve local representatives from the key sectors and will revolve around having a “green lifestyle” – green technology, green policies, green advocacies, and green curriculum.

At the end of the project, the selected proposals will be submitted to the World Bank, Garcia said. (PNA)

Hello friends.....I friend of mine na iyang sister in-law who is currently a Mall Manager of SM Mulino Cavite.....was here last night.....ingon siya na SM Save more daw ang plan na gi open for Dumaguete...huhuhuh..... Kay She is from dumaguete and ganahan siya na ma transfer here...but unfortunately dili siya mabalhin...kay ang SM Save More shop...dili kinahanglan ug Mall Manager.........Sana ma change ang Plan...we want a Full Service Mall......a 8 hectars 4 story mall...hehehehehe..... Bitaw....keep crossing your finger...heehhehe

Going back to this issue.....Last week that SM mall manager nag ask ug mga photos inside and out of robinsons na daghan tawo.... coz she is going to make a proposal para sa ilang big boss to open a mall here... it is because....ganahan na siya ma assign here kay taga Dumaguete man siya..... And Thank you sa nag post ug pictures diri sa blog kay diri jud sa blog nako gikuha ang pictures.......hehehehhe........

^^tanong ko lang, kaya pa ba ang isang malakakihang mall dito? ninoy aquino na nga yung ibang mga salesgirls (hehehe, joke lang). i think it would be wise if SM will concentrate their plans in Cebu SRP, rather than go province to province and build smaller malls. the Cebu SRP project btw is rumored to be as big as the MOA or even bigger. and i think it's just fitting to build it in cebu..... because (correct me if im wrong), the first SM dept store opened in cebu back in the mid 70's located at the first floor of ludo luym building.... although hindi pa mall, isang shoe store lang talaga (like zenco footstep).

Bitaw, looking at how Robinson's fared so far, murag mingaw man ang ubang mga stalls like Mendez. Although, I'll be happy if there is another mall but for now I'll just be contented Dumaguete helping Robinson's take its baby steps kay lisod na nga manirado ang ubang mga stalls.

Trip na Trip, ABS-CBN's award winning travel show, have constantly featured Negros Oriental. It looks like the gang of Trip na Trip have enjoyed Negros Oriental so much that they are present each year at the Buglasan and so far there are about 3-4 episodes about Negros Oriental on their show.

With the rate Dumaguete is developing... I think pwede pa ang usa nga mall diri. Malls usually takes 5 years to develop, and 5 years from now Dumaguete (including surrounding areas) will have more people and higher purchasing power.

I guess it's normal for Robinsons not to have a lot of people these days due to the following reasons:

1. People just spent their money for the Christmas holidays, so the months until March are usually lean months, same with June-November.

2. All the shops have not yet opened and people must have grown tired with the same shops every time they go there.

3. The mall is just more than a month old. It will take some time before people, especially those coming from other places, get used to a malling lifestyle which Dumaguete has started to establish.

Given the opening of new stores and new attractions in a few months, and once people are used to malls in Dumaguete, I guess Robinsons will start filling up as it did in November and during the Christmas season. Tenants and Robinsons itself are not looking at one time swarm of customers, or lean days, but the totality of it. Plus the direction the city is taking.

With the opening of more BPO companies in Dumaguete, I guess Dumaguete would be needing another mall, maybe even more in the coming years.

The coming in of Robinsons will create multiplier effects, though not immediately visible, like people wanting more to live here, tourists wanting to visit Dumaguete, or companies wanting to establish operations in the city.

The place evokes a pat of Bohemian; we're talking here of the ground floor. And the second floor? it's Bohemian to the bone with a whiff of understated elegance--I mean, with high ceiling and wide windows that open to the street.

LA RESIDENCIA ALMAR
Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete City

Located along the Rizal Boulevard stretch, fronting the magnificent ocean views, this antique mansion, of old European architecture, used to house the governors of the province in the early 1920s. Now, this is one of the most charming and expensive boutique hotels in the city.

The hotel houses two first-class restaurants, Don Atilano Steakhouse and Wakagi Japanese Restaurant in the first level.

Best paired with Don Atilano's Brew!

http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/4378/donwl1.jpg

And by the way, here's a trivia. Did you know that Don Atilano's Brewed Coffee concoction made it's way to New York Time's Food Article and coined it, "The Best Brewed Coffee in this side of the Globe?.." Wow. Now, I don't know how many violent reactions this may receive, but it's really true. However, it's actually very subjective so many may or may not agree with it. But the fact that a certain coffee from a restaurant in some far city in the Philippines made it's way to the big media from the west is already something. The article was found by Ian Casocot last year. Now I really wanna try it someday. But I'll have start saving for it.. Wew.

They say number 13 is unlucky...
They say it is a jinx...
They say many bad things happen on the 13th.
Some buildings do not have the 13th floor.

For others, it is a lucky number.

But facts prove that
1. Friday the 13th is a day where few accidents happen...
2. There are no facts linking the number 13th as being unlucky.

Lucky Thread 13 (just around 60++ more posts) is coming soon!

The place evokes a pat of Bohemian; we're talking here of the ground floor. And the second floor? it's Bohemian to the bone with a whiff of understated elegance--I mean, with high ceiling and wide windows that open to the street.

Wew.

You are correct in all your points Ritch. What concerns me though are the existing tenants of Robinsons. Selling at the mall incurs expenses and hopefully the lull will not be that long or else it will be a considerable loss. But then again Robinson's has just opened and so it's early to tell and hopefully all things will turn to good once the mall is fully operational.

To add another mall as of now might dillute the market and would bring more harm than good in the business sector. Just to clarify, I would love to have another mall given at the right time. As more companies will be coming in to Dumaguete and there would be an increase in the puchasing capability then it would be perfect for a new mall to set-up.

Kung mingaw.. dili pud na ingon na wala silay halin...... wala man goy amusement and mall...so after shopping...kung wala gigotom ang shopper of course gawas jud siya or lantaw ug movie.........mao sad nay gi sulti kana sa atong featured mall manager......ing-ana daw ang SM malino nag start.....mingaw kaayo...... ni sadya siya after two years pa....kay dili daw dali dali ang pagpasadya ug usa ka mall...........who knows... next year ma sadya na siya... don't know that BPO's are also coming in.......

Let's just hope and keep crossing our fingers........

I agree, medyo boring and Robinson's kay gamay ra ang amusement having only WOF and Movieworld. Hinoon dili pa fully operational but I hope they could add bars to really spice it up then then dako or daghan pud nga arcades. I've been here in Cebu for 9 years so I know unsay something kulang . E-mall for instance kay less than hundred meters ra ni sa ako gipuyan. Kabantay ko sa mga type of tenants nga nanirado ug kadtong nagpabilin. Dili siya bagay sa yuppies pero target niya kay students and Class B and C. So dako ila WOF, movies, cheap products so daghan mangadto. Or like Mango Square nga gamingaw lang sa una pero pag abot sa mga bars nagbaha na.

I hope Robinson's could come up with tenants that would excite the mall taking advantage of Dumaguete being a University Town and also the young professionals. Then madevelop pud ang Dumaguete Business Park pareho sa Ayala Cebu nga mao ang heart sa CBP nya gipalibutan ug mga companies nga maka cater sa class A and B. Dapat ma gets sa Robinsons kung unsa ang kiliti sa mga taga Dumaguete and Neg Or because I've noticed nga it has its own unique taste of the finer things in life nga different sa other places.

Speaking of BPOs, some of my previous colleagues were the ones who set-up Qualfon in Cebu. I have texted my friend who is the HR of Qualfon. Yes, it's true, they will be opening a site in Dumaguete.

One can apply by submitting application and resume to joinuscebu@qualfon.com. I'll check as to when they'll be having a job fair in Dumaguete.

in fairness naman, i think the food shops are doing very good at RPD, kahit yung hindi famous eh puno parin (hehehe). handyman is also doing good, and robinsons appliance is doing good as well. actually only few shops that are visibly na konti lang ang tao pumapasok. sa RTW section ng robinsons, wala doon ang Levi's eh, sayang kasi, folks from PNOC, and even mga engineers prefer this brand (hehehe).

GOOD MORNING DUMAGUETE & NEGROS ORIENTAL!!!:wave:

PPA projects completed
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE
The Visayan Daily Star (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2010/January/15/negor5.htm)

The Philippine Ports Authority has completed the P400-million expansion-reclamation project and the P52-million modern passenger terminal building at the port of Dumaguete City.

Port manager Renato Tolinero said preparations are being made for the inauguration and turnover in early February.

Tolinero said the projects were put up to deliver efficient services to the people of Dumaguete and the province of Negros Oriental that they pushed through because of the cooperation of the port workers, cargo handling operators, and port users.

Tolinero’s assumption as city port manager last year was met with a series of protest actions and pickets by port workers, who were negotiating for a new collective bargaining agreement with the new cargo handling operator.

Tolinero also said PPA had surpassed its target collection this year by 8 percent, with an income of more than P41 million.

The collection represents fees and charges for use of the port, anchorage fees, wharfage and storage fees, and share from the cargo handling operations, among others, he said.

Meanwhile, the newly-completed modern Passenger Terminal Building of Dumaguete City will offer added services to waiting passengers, such as reflexology, body massage, pedicure and manicure services aside from the usual food, drinks, coffee, souvenir and pasalubong items, he said.

This will also address the proliferation of ambulant vending at the port, he said. He added that the PPA is training at least 30 persons to conduct reflex foot therapy on passengers.

It will also negotiate with blind masseurs in Dumaguete to provide body massage services to passengers. Payment will be on a donation basis, because the port spaces will be provided for free.

Tolinero said these services will be included when the PTB is handled by a private operator.*JG

Plus the fact that Cebu is celebrating Sinulog, people are enticed to go more to Cebu than come here. But given enough time I believe Dumaguete has unique attributes that would be an attraction to people, especially the shoppers.

And in fairness to RLC, they have given us a really beautiful mall signifying that even from the start, they know that Dumaguete folks can have a very discriminating taste. Their mall would set the standards in the malling lifestyle here since, of course, big competitors of Rob (e.g SM) would not allow their mall to look inferior to their mall here. So in the near future, we would be looking at malls that would be, in over-all, much better than Rob.

As what vince said, food tenants in Rob are always getting the bulk of the customers.. Palakaon gyud ang mge tga Dumaguete and business here in Dumaguete would never go lugi if you open a food business (but you have to be competitive enough). People doubt of what would become of the Gustavian and Pino since these are expensive restos. On the other hand, I am confident that Dumaguete wont let them down..:)

Btw, BO's Coffee, just started with their renovation of their space. All along I thought December sila mo open. GUD Trading Corporation is the one that franchised Bo's and Sunburst. So probably, both will open at the same time..:)

There are still about more than 5 spaces that are still not occupied at the Al Fresco Area. I hope bars would also open. I just get tooo irritated seeing LBC at the Al Fresco area. Na out of place gyud...:ohno:

Still a very big space at the back...
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/6596/photo0322.jpg

A very big empty space. Sayang. This area would rather look so much better if there is a fountain. Will it still be pushed? Since it's on the renderings... But I think the bricks there are just laid temporarily. Gibutangan lang just for the opening. I still think this big space will soon become a fountain area... Although, this much space was taken just for the stage last Christmas Carnivale Fashion Show which took place exactly on that area, aptly named the "Outdoor Activity Area"

PORT SERVICES
