All but one of these photos are from the side angle... here's a few more.

It's listed as only about 80m tall but actually it's much taller in the city because of its location on the summit of a hill. You can see in my 2nd photo how all of the old town looks up to it.

Anyway, this is one of my favourite historic buildings. 10/10

I cosider this castle-style structure.
18- storey structure is not a skyscraper, in my opinion

Sweet - this should be a stop on the ghost tour of the city.
8 - considering its timelessness.

Who cares whether the place is a skyscraper or not? I sure don't! :D

And, without the benefit of having seen it live, it gets the full 10 from me because this sort of building is right up my alley!

Thank you, Kommentare, for making this entry, and thanks, D-Mac, for the additional pix! :okay:

I love it and always have. All of the Canadian Chateau Style Railway Hotels are Beautiful :D.

If anyone is curious other ones that come to mind are: the Banff Springs Hotel, Lac Louise Hotel, and The Bessborough in Saskatoon.

Quebec must be a wonderfull city, but I don't like this building. It's much too massive, dominating and a kind of fake medieval style. I can only give this 7, sorry.

This type of architecture is unique to Canada and is often called Canadian Chateau Style or Railway Gothic. It first appeared in the late 19th century with grand railway hotels like the Chateau Frontenac and Banff Springs Hotel. It was a mix of Victorian Gothic Revival with the castles of the Loire in France. This French-English mix is considered distinctly Canadian.

Other examples would include the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, the Supreme Court building in Ottawa, and the Hotel Vancouver.
