Abu Dhabi based Injaz Mena Investment Company PSC joined with UK-based Global Haly Investment Limited to develop a landmark US$750-plus million shopping mall and office complex in Defence, Phase VIII, Karachi. The joint venture project is proudly announced under the key sponsorship and Patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nayhan. Global Haly Development (Pvt) Ltd. the Pakistan based company tasked with undertaking the full development signed and announced the newly appointed Chairman & CEO Mr. Mubarak bin Fahad, in addition to the team of national and international consultants assigned to undertake the establishment of the distinguished development “Creek Side” the exclusive shopping and office complex.
The complex is situated next to the Creek Golf Club along the Arabian Sea coastline, benefiting from unrestricted creek views. The planned complex, approved by Defense Housing Authorities, will provide high quality shopping as well as premium office space on 5.3 acres of land. It will provide an area of about 1.7 million sq ft of which over 700,000 sq ft will be saleable space. The complex consists of three basement levels for parking, a ground floor, a first floor and five upper floors, offering well over 400,000 sq ft of dedicated retail space while the remaining will be dedicated to exclusive space for offices. The development will house all the facilities and infrastructure required to offer a luxurious lifestyle shopping experience. Creek Side will set the benchmark, and be an excellent example of a true mixed-use centre project combining retail, restaurants, cafés, and world class food terraces coupled with an exclusive office complex.
Roya International is the lead consultant providing consulting services for sub-consultants throughout the design and construction phases. Saunders Global the lead architects for the project undertook the structural and building services engineering design for the entire project in liaison with local engineers Engineering Associates. With the approval of the Defense Housing Authorities awarded to Global Haly Development on the 19th of March, 2008, the project is due for completion in 2011. Creek Side project is developed around the concept of delivering a luxury retail experience coupled with executive offices which has required significant liaison with a number of consultants and local bodies to turn the design into reality.

Hindustani May 18th, 2008, 10:38 PM very nice.
siamu maharaj May 18th, 2008, 10:54 PM It looks bigger than 5.4 acres. 5.4 acres ain't that big really. And I think this mall is the reason why Creek Inn closed down.
Red aRRow May 18th, 2008, 11:27 PM Siam?? WHAT??? You want a guy from Thailand to take the pics???
No, I want all of Thailand to take pics.  :bash:

Creek Inn closed down, I liked that place.
Anyways there must be some other reason for it to close cuz this is not located where Creek Inn was, here is a Google Earth image of the location:

HSK May 19th, 2008, 12:58 AM Beautiful! I love how the sails and bow make the whole thing boat-sy.
Has anyone bothered looking at this Global Haly outfit? Seems like they have no experience in construction. Site: http://globalhaly.com
siamu maharaj May 19th, 2008, 06:31 AM They have a counter on their site??? I call shenanigans!
HSK May 19th, 2008, 08:49 PM They have a counter on their site??? I call shenanigans!
I smell the same. Some food for thought:
1. The first thing you see when entering their site is "An Investment Company - Registered in London - Under the Laws of United Kingdom". Why even emphasize that? Never believe a company that brags about being a law abiding company from the UK. Ever.
2. They claim to be in Singapore, South Africa, UK, and Pakistan - but why no projects under the portfolio? A quick google search for "Global Haly" shows a grand total of 79 hits. Not impressed.
3. The only project listed on the site was "awarded" by DHA. Global Haly has no projects under the belt and DHA hands them a multi-million dollar contract?
4. The contract was won in February 2007. The website was registered in December 2006.
It's a great looking building, but something about this company [Global Haly] just doesnt seem right.
siamu maharaj May 20th, 2008, 09:32 AM See, I said the same about another project too. What happens is that a 'relative' of powers that be in here goes abroad, opens up a company and 'wins' the contract. Nothing to be surprised at.
X-entric May 21st, 2008, 08:56 AM DHA=Army, and there is never any transparency in army deals.
Guys we are in this state (the way things are in Pakistan now) after 60 goddamned years because of a REASON!
brightside. May 21st, 2008, 09:32 AM ^^ What are you trying to imply? Because throughout our history it is the army which has got the most done.
Red aRRow May 21st, 2008, 09:33 AM @X-entric I think Army is one of the least corrupt institutions of Pakistan. Much less than our judiciary and politicians. If there is one institution I trust in Pakistan it's the armed forces. Now stop croaking Kermit.
brightside. May 21st, 2008, 09:49 AM If the army was corrupt, Pakistan would not exist today. Let's not take this discussion any further.
NewYork-wala May 21st, 2008, 10:53 AM Nice...
swerveut May 21st, 2008, 10:55 AM Guys, no need to go out of whack about this project. It has already been launched and site is being prepared for construction to start. I went yesterday and got the brochure and price list... complete with ground plans and more architectural details. Will post them sometime soon. It has been designed by Saunders Global of Australia.
Cheers.

Clearly you haven't visited any of their offices and you are talking out of something that is used not for talking.
Visit the DHA office some day and then visit the local City Govt. housing office as well and you will notice the difference.
Its funny how you guys have seriously no idea of the realities and just have conceptions because of what you hear. I'm glad I lived in Pakistan for the majority of my life, because I love how I can shut people up.

X-entric May 22nd, 2008, 12:40 AM obviously these pseudo-intellectual kids believe what they see. These army lovers need to open their eyes a bit. Maybe you should read 'Army Inc' by Dr Ayesha Siddiqa.

Your shooting yourself, again your basing it on a book.
I am talking on realities and not on some book or some drawing room conversations.
Anyways, this is not the place to discuss this so I don't know why you even brought it up in the first place.

Books are usually written after a lot of research so I would be more willing to give that book credence than any of the rhetoric you might be inclined to post here. And ESPECIALLY I would be more willing to believe a person who has done a doctorate in military tech and defence decision making from King's college London, and has been the director of Naval research in Pakistan for 11 years instead of some layman. If you want to know more about her, read here:

Anyhow, without further going offtopic or causing more controversies, here is my attempt at photographing the brochure I got from their site office. The pictures came out shit, but they might be able to give a fair idea of what this development will be like.
Cheers and enjoy...

zees May 25th, 2008, 10:24 AM $750mn plus for just a mall
In Dubai they had build the World's tallest building for just $1bn
siamu maharaj May 25th, 2008, 04:14 PM $6 billion, not $1.
oogabooga May 25th, 2008, 06:29 PM $6 billion, not $1.
And if you take the whole BurjDubai Downtown development into consideration then $10 billion!
siamu maharaj May 25th, 2008, 08:29 PM BTW, I do think too that $750m is a LOT for 5.4 acres. 5.4 acres is a tiny tiny tiny place. It's not as big as the renders make it look like.
brightside. May 25th, 2008, 09:22 PM 5.4 acres is approximately the area of 5 American football fields. Thats not that tiny.
HSK May 26th, 2008, 04:05 AM 5.4 acres is approximately the area of 5 American football fields. Thats not that tiny.
For $750 million, it's very tiny.
siamu maharaj May 26th, 2008, 09:31 PM A football field is tiny. Also my college was 6 acres, so I know exactly how big 5.4 acres would be. I always use my college to compare sizes in acres.
zees May 27th, 2008, 07:04 AM $6 billion, not $1.
The tower alone worth $1bn, Here are some details
Burj Dubai will feature more than 160 floors, 56 elevators, luxury apartments, boutiques, swimming pools, spas, exclusive corporate suites, Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani's first hotel, and a 124th floor observation platform. $1 billion skyscraper is in the heart of downtown Dubai, a 500-acre development area worth $20 billion.
siamu maharaj May 27th, 2008, 09:03 AM $1 billion seems too little. I don't know where I got the figure of $6b from.
OK, I just checked, Wikipedia says $4.1b. in 2004 dollars.
brightside. May 27th, 2008, 09:19 PM Creekside sales fast gaining momentum
KARACHI (May 27 2008): Creekside - Karachi's new waterfront lifestyle and business icon - is a joint venture project by Abu Dhabi-based Injaz Mena Investment Company PSC and UK-based Global Haly Investment Limited. The joint venture project was officially announced under the key sponsorship and patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Nayhan, says a press release.
An exclusive shopping mall and office complex, Creekside is inspired by some of the world's most prestigious developments, built to the highest international standards. The project worth $750-plus million is being developed in Phase VIII, Defence. Designed by the leading Australian retail architects, Saunders Global Creekside features sublime architectural style, premium retail and office space, prime waterfront location, first class security and ample covered parking. The planned project will provide a shopping mall and office space, spread on an area of 5.3 acres in a Prime Location of Defence Phase VIII.
Global Haly Development (Pvt) Ltd Chairman and CEO Mubarak bin Fahad expressed his views: "Creekside is a uniquely designed mixed use facility which we firmly believe will bring a new level of luxury and enhancement to the standards of shopping expected today.
The development boasts a design that gracefully maximises sea views whilst maintaining optimal functionality and locality." Creekside site office located in Defence, Phase VIII is accepting bookings, and is facing an unprecedented demand in sales for its retail, office and restaurant spaces.-PR

They would also use Pakistanis as slave labourers and force them to work night and day in 40 degree heat to achieve that. Dubai isn't particularly efficient, its particularly exploitative.

Yeah, they regularly visit Peshawar, hold guns to everyone's head and ask them to come to Dubai and work as slaves or they'd be killed. Poor laborers, they have absolutely no choice in it.

Rkhan September 13th, 2012, 08:47 PM I believe this project is now called Arkadia Mall. I was driving by this Sales Office but it doesnt say creek side on it. And around it...Paragon and Principal Contractors are mobilised.
Paragon has started piling works and while i was swinging by, concreting works were also being mobilized. Not sure about Principal's movement on the project.
Please Correct me if i'm wrong about the projects being the same.
