During my holiday i went to Lyon, the third city of France (aprrox. 500.000 inh./ 1.250.000 included suburbs). I was surprised of the diversity and beauty of the city. Here my pictures of the city center and a few pics of the (sometimes) ugly suburbs.

Lyon is a very old city, but also kwown a an industry city. Here you can see the suburbs with the large oil-industry of the French multinational Fina.

Wow. Those are some perfect shots of Lyon and its contrasts, as well as the Saone and Loire (wait, did you not mean Saone and Rhone?) regions.

By the way, we say basilica in English.

And this is funny. When the French are taken in photos talking they are often puckering because of the way they form their mouth to pronounce many words.

Thanks for these photos :)

I like how Lyon is a transition between northern and southern France, as well as between the alpine regions and the rest of the country. The romans were right by making it the capital of the gaulish province. Quite frankly, it would have made a very good french capital as well.

Thanks for the replys.

@edubejar
I found baselic a strange word, but didn't know the right word. Thanks.
The region is Saone & Loire. The Loire is also a river in France and lies western from the Rhone.

Wonderful shots, it is much more hilly than I thought it was - those stairs look like a good bit of exercise. The Fourviere quarter also looks wonderful. Thanks for showing them!
