Nice design. This is what we all expect to see in the tallest block--unlike Marina Sky Towers, which has too much density. Location? I guess one of the two plots beside MAG 218.

It's not for certain but by the shape of the podium it looks like it is. Although they said they got special permission to build this one so maybe it's next to the tallest block, where the summit is.

Looks like all the towers announced in Dubai lately have more than 100 floors, soon they can rename Dubai to Coruscant :)

Well, it's hard to say exactly what access for these towers will be like. I know with Mag 218 there is one access point along the small service road pictured above and another access point at the front of the tower. At present, however, the front access point can only be reached by circumventing half the block. My guess is that this front side access will open up to the main road, otherwise the Marina Arcade mall entrance would also be non approachable without first circumventing half the block. That would create a traffic flow nightmare--so I can't see these access points being constructed that way in the end.

Then again, the Al Sufouh tram will presumably be passing that way as well, so who knows?

Only in the tallest block and Dubai would a 107-story tower go largely unnoticed. There seems to be very little attention given this tower. It is only going to be something like the 5th or 6th tallest building in the world. Does anyone know if it is still progressing?

^^ I think the reason little attention is given to this is because it's hard to access the site.

the typical highrise residential floor height for units in dubai seems to be about 3.65m.
if this is the case. marina106 has 107 floors thus 390m to roof, then the see thru strutcure which equals another 20m= 410m to top. then another 25m for spire, thus 435m in total?

435 would be an awesome height !!! :omg:

MEFG has such a distinctive pattern of work that I have never been able to tell at what stage they are, based on what they're doing. They also have a history of working on projects that got abandoned either completely or temporarily: Al Attar in SZR, 2 other plots in SZR (opposite side) that were abandoned after the shoring was completed, Dubai Marina in front of TT & MH, Burj Al Alam etc.

I will suspect only the shoring of the site is done and maybe, maybe a few test piles. However with this contractor you never know.

I just love the new design. This is even better than the first one. Kinda like a more modern version of Marina 101. Malec, you seriously need to build this in sketchup. :)

I will give it a go. I should get some time on sunday to do it. Plus that design should be fairly quick to model.
