Hello, I'm thinking (not sure yet) in going to Budapest this summer, but I pretend also going to Slovenia to visit some friends, in a small town there.

This town is very close the Hungary/Slovenia frontier (about 6 km from Lenti).

I want to catch a train from Budapest to Lenti (about 300km from Budapest), and then cross the frontier by taxi (about 6km from Lenti).

I need to know the average prices, both train and taxi. For what I've seen on internet, the train Budapest-Lenti costs about from 3500 to 5000 Forints.

The Taxi between Lenti and the Slovenia frontier I don't know. Taxis are expensive in Hungary?

and what about Bus, what is the average price of a 300km travel? cheaper than train?

Train from Budapest to Lenti is between 3800HUF(regular train all the way) vs 5300HUF partially with IC. Fastest is 5:30,longest is 11:18 long.

A question...why not take the train all along? I dont know if taxis can take you over the border...International buses dont serve local lines, most probably wont even stop at the border, since we're both in Schengen...

thanks for your answer!

I need to go to Lendava (Slovenia). It's about 6 or 7km from Lenti. http://www.orbe.com/slovenija/slomap/map.jpg

For what I've seen on other maps, Lenti it's the closest train station. I will stay just a few days there and then go back to Budapest.

some years ago I've been in Switzerland (Geneve), and one time I have crossed the Swiss/French frontier (3 km travel) using taxi without any problems. But it was expensive...
