New Jack City October 3rd, 2003, 09:16 PM 3 and less/10...I absolutely hate it! I don't care how much ornamentation or what year it was built, you don't give a skyscraper gold and black as colors! Never!
RafflesCity October 5th, 2003, 12:13 AM 8.5/10
Chocolate delight! I like the colour, it helps the building age well. Elegant!

You do have a good point there.I still think it looks alright besides the gold and black issue.7.0/10
D-Mac October 6th, 2003, 02:15 AM I always thought this was a really nice building until I actually saw it in person. It didn't impress me at all (unlike most other NYC 'scrapers) ... the ornamentation is nice, but the rest of it is pretty boring. 6/10
Bratzo October 6th, 2003, 04:14 AM yeah..i like the shape of the building...but the colors..emm.....
SteelCity32 October 18th, 2003, 11:38 PM wow, 7/10

Trances June 29th, 2004, 09:36 AM I like it a lot but expect there are quite a few like it around the city
7 World Trade June 29th, 2004, 05:08 PM the first of a great series of art deco skyscrapers in nyc. i like its brown and gold color, really unique among all art deco skyscrapers.
they should've built it taller with a slightly lighter facade though.
8.5
Patrick Highrise June 30th, 2004, 12:52 PM this is like a skyscraper horror house with all that black and gold and ornaments...but still I don't really hate it or so but don't like it that much either: so a 6.
bobdebouwer June 30th, 2004, 01:00 PM A classy classic skyscraper like skyscrapers are meant to be... Too bad about the smog on the building, I believe it was dark brown before... 9/10

The colour contrast of black/brown with gold looks really bad IMO. And the shape of the building looks a lot like a radiator too. :(
lovecharlie August 13th, 2005, 02:41 PM Black and Gold were 2 of the most used colours in Art Deco, I think it works well, but can also see how others wouldn`t like it, I think it would of worked well in green-blue like the Eastern Columbia in Los Angeles. The base is also very detailed and imaginative but is rarely pictured. I think It also would of worked well as a much taller building say 800-900 feet lol. 8
i_am_hydrogen August 18th, 2005, 01:58 AM Gorgeous ornamentation.

DecoJim January 5th, 2006, 02:37 AM A very important skyscraper. I think it was Raymond Hood's first major commission. One of the first Art-Deco buidling with setbacks. The color combination is not appealing IMO but at least it adds variety to NYs cityscape.
8/10
