Like the surrounding Balkan countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina has had a turbulent past marked by frequent foreign invasions and occupation. As a result, Bosnian music is now a mixture of ethnic Bosniak, Croat, Serb, Greek , Roma (Gypsy), Turkish, Hungarian and Macedonian influences along with influences from the western part of the world.

Merci Reda. :)
In Bosnia we have both oriental and western music. Oriental has somewhat lower status and it's mostly popular in rural parts of the country and with working class people. Oddly, those people who like modern middle eastern sounding music dislike traditional music, also oriental, that has very high artistic value and complex lyrics. That music style is sevdah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sevdalinka)
Rock and western pop is mostly popular with urban young.
