View Full Version : Extending Sydney Arcades?

So far, the arcades just branches outwards from Town Hall and Wynyard station. Town Hall arcades attempts to link the major shopping centres within its close proximity.

Possible extensions:

Town Hall: Extend it to World Square, but this could be difficult given the cityrail rail tunnels and potential for George St cinemas to be redeveloped. Possibly just linking it to Lumiere shopping centre would be good. As for the North, link the Pitt St Mall to MLC Centre and St James Station.

Wynyard: Link it to East Darling Harbour and Town Hall via MLC Centre.

Martin Place: Extend it to Chifley Square.

Some may be in conflict with future metro plans. hmm...

I'm very disappointed that the retail complex at Luminere was not connected to Town Hall Station. That would have increased the success of it's retail complex.

Lumiere's arcade is just another typical china town style development and doesn't server the needs of anyone beyond that niche group.

That's a big call considering it has completely opened yet.

You may well be right but I think we should let time tell. There'll be a large Upmarket Grocery store in teh basement which may have wider appeal.

How did you know that?
Are they open already?

I may not be in Sydney, but at least i know the shopping centre is open.

Nah, seriously, the website is indeed useless. They should at least list the stores.

Decided to poke my head in tonight and it is very much more of the same that you get in arcades down that way and beyond. Anyone need to get their nails done by chicks in medical masks?
