It's called Bab Riafa and it's a very popular tourist attraction despite being one of the many old gates and former entrances into to city. It's situated on the Avenue de l’Unesco, near a middle school called Azize Amine.. not far from Batha and Boujloud squares

Eux au moins, ils argumentent et justifient leurs choix, ce qui me derange pas personnelement ( apres tout le gout c'est comme les couleurs ca ne se discute pas), mais dire je n'aime pas je sais pas pourquoi, c'est de l'ignorance avouer, ca n'a aucun sens, meme Marine Le pen fait preuve de plus de logique:lol:

J'ai jamais dis que je n'aime pas Tanger, au contraire c'est une super ville avec l'ambiance les couleurs, la nature et la culture hispano-mediterraneenne mais ce que j’évoque souvent et que je trouve absolument inacceptable c'est le "style" architectural adopté pour une cette belle ville.

je pense que fes a son propre charme , elle est bien structurée mais il n'y a pas de tour en verre ni des desings extra moderne c'est pour ca que la plus part des forumeurs ne l'aiment pas .

yup they are doing a great job with the Medina.. it looks much better and cleaner than it used to be.. not all of it, but most of the major street and alleys :)

So the plan is actually to get first proper GPS coordinates of 3 or 4 points around the medina. It is nescessary to monitor the signal over a longer time period and evaluate precise values on a statistic basis.

This means i need let the GPS unit track over a certain time span and maybe visit the 3-4 reference points on more than one day.

Later i will use conventional aerial photography with the information of certain "inaccurate" GPS tracks of the main derbs to draw a digital map using http://josm.openstreetmap.de/

The oldest of Moroccos imperial cities, Fes, is also the most chaotic and authentic - city where the way of life seems to have remained unchanged since Idris I founded it in 789. City where the air is filled with the sweet scent of wood shavings coming from carpenters' shops, the overpowering smell of raw leather from the tanneries, spices and fruit from its numerous souks and of course the shouts and cries of the traders, street performers, and faux guides. The medina contains many important monuments, El Qaraouiyin University (founded in 859) and Bou Inania Madrasa being just a few examples, and is a treasure in itself, but its layout of steep, narrow, winding alleys and many dead ends ensure that a visit to Fes is always going to be an exhausting but also an exciting one.
Take your time, lose yourself, climb the numerous terraces of the riads or the hills for the views and enjoy...

39. The water clock which also goes by the name of Dar al-Magana, it was built in 1357(!). This is what wikipedia has to say about it - "The clock consists of 13 windows and platforms carrying brass bowls. The motion of the clock was presumably maintained by a kind of small cart which ran from left to right behind the twelve doors. At one end, the cart was attached to a rope with a hanging weight; at the other end to a rope with a weight that floated on the surface of a water reservoir that was drained at a regular pace. Each hour one of the doors opened; at the same time a metal ball was dropped into one of the twelve brass bowls. The rafters sticking out of the building above the doors supported a small roof to shield the doors and bowls." Fantastic stuff!

The place is a tannery where they make leather from the skins of animals which does not easily decompose, just like the old way that our ancestors used to do.. like I said a living museum !!

une vrai ville imperiale , il faut sauver notre patrimoine culturel , car il ya bcp de places sont entrain de detruire

Tu as raison. Les villes ont été saccagées par l'exode rural, il faut un plan d'urgence pour dédensifier (j'aime bien l'euphémisme) les zones historiques et patrimoniales, pas seulement les médinas et pas juste à Fès! C'est une urgence si on veut sauver ce qui reste à sauver.

Les parties rénovées sont très belles. S'ils repeignaient tous les bâtiments de la médina et enlevaient les paraboles, la ville deviendrait sublime.

c'est incroyable quand on compare le style de vie de nos ancestres avec celle d'aujourd'hui.. le schema urbain de la medina, dans chaque quartier on y trouvait une mosquee, plusieurs fontaines publiques, Medersa, Msid, un hammam, un four.. et puis des quartiers specialise's dans la menuiserie, les tissues, le bronze.... etc

et puis le cas des exodants qui detruisent ces petits bijoux qui sont nos medinas.. la hawla wala 9owata illa billah !!

on a restaurer pas mal de quartier sur Fez, a priori les circuits touristiques, wama khafia kana a3dam !! faut plus et encore plus ce n'est pas suffisant du tout :ohno:

juste pour la precision, la muraille a droite est bien l'originale qui entoure la medina qu'on a restaure' que recement, quand a celle de gauche, elle etait un peu courte et on lui a donne' de l'hauteur au meme style et design de l'autre pour cacher le cimetiere, et pour laquelle je salus l'initiative des responsables, ainsi ca donne plus de charme et du imperialisme a la ville sainte :cheers2:
