SoboleuS October 3rd, 2003, 02:16 PM I think it's rather average for a city of this size... 6/10
Big! October 3rd, 2003, 05:48 PM 6/10
Eduardo Lopez October 3rd, 2003, 06:26 PM Milwaukee has a recognizable skyline already and landmarks.
6/10
renell October 3rd, 2003, 07:14 PM 6/10 looks like it's one of those typical Eastern US skyline. some stout boxes and some cool 1930's stuff;)
Peter The Great October 3rd, 2003, 11:19 PM This skyline is far from typical...let me tell ya that.
But nothing special about it for a city that size...( 17th largest in the U.S.A.).

Had to give it a good high score. Hometown bias you could say. But its still a great skyline. It has a great mix of the old and new. And with the new highrises going up, it'll only get better. How I miss seeing it being away at school.
Javier October 4th, 2003, 08:59 AM 6/10
Fiddlerontheruf December 1st, 2003, 11:40 PM 6/10. Milwaukee is a cool city live in but the skyline is certainly not a great one. It's fair, but the problem is the skyscrapers hide the real nice buildings on the street. Some ugly buildings, including 411 Wisconsin, the Faison and other Po-Mo or brutalist crap clutter the skyline. And it's so spread out. The true downtown commercial skyline is about 20 blocks wide and only 4 or 5 blocks wide. Plus, there is a very dense, impressive skyline on the lake that no one can really see unless you are one the east side. So, in fairness, you can't really take a good picture of the entire skyline.
Sniper December 4th, 2003, 12:31 AM 7.5/10. I liked that night picture.
Fabio January 5th, 2004, 12:04 AM 7.5/10

PegRules04 January 12th, 2004, 01:22 AM Surprised at the lack of taller buildings for a city this size. Looks like a beautiful place though. I'll vote a 6.
ParraMan January 12th, 2004, 01:27 AM 6
Small, with the odd highrise building.
CG5 February 18th, 2004, 01:30 AM 7.0
I like my hometown skyline, but it's nothing to sing songs about. The people, the atmosphere, the festivals...these one could sing about. But not the skyline.
Wu-Gambino February 25th, 2004, 03:13 AM 7/10
I like Milwaukee. Faison and US Bank are my favorites in Milwaukee.
skyperu34 February 27th, 2004, 04:48 AM i dont like this city too much because it has kind of disperse skyline with only a tall guy that dislikes the forumer´s eye

DunceConfederacy December 12th, 2004, 09:36 PM 7/10. Whenever I head up to Chi-town, I plan to spend some time in Milwaukee and see what's going on.
Boschdijk December 13th, 2004, 12:13 PM I'm surprised by this relatively unknown city to us Europeans. I rate its skyline a 7,5.
BuffSam December 17th, 2004, 11:31 AM great city!!!! 7/10
i_am_hydrogen January 13th, 2005, 09:00 AM 6.0/10 -- The downtown and East Side are really attractive areas. That line of high rises along Prospect Avenue also makes for a nice mini-skyline as one drives down Lincoln Memorial Drive. But Milwaukee's skyline is too low and loose and has too few buildings to merit anything higher than a 6.0 imho. I still dig that city immensely, though. I'm originally from there.
hauntedheadnc January 13th, 2005, 11:10 PM A skyline does not necessarily need to be gigantic to please or inspire. Milwaukee has a clean skyline that's elegant in a modern way, and is immensely helped along by the new art museum. 7.

nomarandlee October 30th, 2005, 06:29 PM Milwaukees strenght is not its skyline. Its beauty and good points come from its great river front, lake shore, and festivals.
If people from Milwaukee want a great skyline they just have to drive an hour south to Chicago. Otherwsie they have a great mid-size city that offers plenty. I kind of like the fact that they didn't feel the need to try to build a mini-Chicago skyline. An effort that would have been futile and pointless. Instead they made one of the better lowrise and mid-rise downtowns in the mid-west IMO.

I totally agree. Why should I care about our skyline when I can see one thats in the top 3 in the world--in around an hour and a half?
Ours isnt that bad. Its better than most people think it is. I would say its more attractive than many other bigger skylines--made up of ugly, plain towers. Milwaukee just has all of its tall buildings spread so far apart.

Don Omar October 25th, 2006, 06:29 AM 9 cause there is so much to Milwaukee.
With summerfest, state fair, miller brewery tours, and all the cultural fests aside, Milwaukee still has some great buildings. The Caltrava is breathing taking outside and inside. There should be some more photos of Marquette University and some of the old factory buildings in West Milwaukee and else where. Even though some people don't like them, the Domes too.
I live out in New York now, but my favorite part of milwaukee was driving over the 35th street bridge in the morning. I miss the cheap beer, the world's largest music fest and the Marquette and UW-Mil parties.

robituss February 18th, 2007, 11:47 PM I love the ill mil. Like some have said already, the skyline is not the best part of milwaukee, theres a lot of other stuff thats great.
For the skyline, being so close to chicago, its gonna get overshadowed. Like many have mentioned, part of the problem is the skyline is so long that the buildings are spaced out too far; stretching from the wells fargo building, like 15 blocks east to the usbank building. (Kind of the opposite problem of the Mils wisconsin brother, madison - skyline is short but dense). The new condo towers on the east side are definitely a good thing, as skyscape and milwaukeemarks pics already show.
I like the architecture of a lot of the existing buildings, especially city hall (even though i never liked the tallest - firststar building). I gave the skyline an 8, maybe out of midwest bias or something. But the skyline is sure to improve.

Some of the better pics of the city in a thread full of pics that don't do it much justice..
Nice town. Yes, it is boring, but still pleasant. 6.5/10

It has some nice older buildings, but they're hidden beyond the big boxes. I really don't like the U.S. Bank building. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Had to give it a good high score. Hometown bias you could say. But its still a great skyline. It has a great mix of the old and new. And with the new highrises going up, it'll only get better. How I miss seeing it being away at school.
I would say bias.

*Jarrod March 5th, 2011, 10:08 PM Skyline isn't the greatest but it's nice.
Milwaukee looks like a city I'd like to live in. Not too big, not too small and laid back. My kind of city

nice but not many tall buildings.
royal rose1 January 8th, 2012, 09:21 PM 8 for me! Beautiful skyline! Simply kills the ratings with such a small number of skyscrapers, but such strong density.
Can I ask what's it like from street level?
